《King Of All Heavens》Chapter 18: Battle of Bloodlines

Wang Tian walked slowly towards this hellish abyss. The surroundings became darker and darker. Due to his low cultivation base, even if Wang Tian's left eye could see in the dark, he still found it pretty hard to see. Wang Tian walked for almost a day. Sometimes he'd sit down and take a nap. His stomach was grumbling nonstop. He didn't bring any food with him and his Qi hasn't been replenished since he hasn't killed anybody or anything yet. He didn't encounter any creature on his journey and that proved to be very disadvantageous for him. As he walked deeper and deeper into the tunnel, he noticed that the place was getting wider and taller until the ceiling had reached about 1000 feet in height. Wang Tian found this to be very odd but he still continued to walk.
After a few more minutes of walking, Wang Tian found himself stopping and looking at a certain direction. There was a big creature looking at him with big red eyes. The creature was more than a hundred feet tall. It had wings that extended to 150 meters. Its scales were dark red in color. Yes! This beast was a dragon! Wang Tian couldn't help but gasp in shock when he saw the dragon. 'Dragons exist in this world?!!' he thought to himself. He fell into a daze and only after a few minutes did he manage to gain his composure again. The dragon looked at him with a lofty air. Wang Tian felt as if he was an ant, no, a speck of dust when he's in the presence of this dragon. In his past life, dragons were regarded as myths. They were one of the creatures that were feared and considered as holy. The Dragon race was a fearsome race. They were the overlords of the skies! They breathed fire and their size was gargantuan! Now, Wang Tian has seen a dragon right before his very eyes! He couldn't help but nod as if agreeing to the information about dragons in his past life.
"Brat, what are you doing here?" The dragon spoke. It looked at Wang Tian with a piercing gaze.
Wang Tian was grasping for air at this moments since the pressure unconsciously released by the aura of the dragon was extremely suffocating. He looked at the dragon with great difficulty and said,
"I am here...as-as a ch-challenger" Wang Tian said. Pain written all over his face.
The dragon looked at him interest and said, "Kid, are you really a challenger? You're the third person to have ever reached me in the past thousands of years. One is dead and one is captured." The dragon pointed towards a skeleton and said, "He's your predecessor."
Wang Tian didn't bother to look at the corpses since he was already having a hard time standing there.
The dragon withdrew his aura and then asked Wang Tian a question.
"What is a member of the Arachnid Tribe doing in this planet?" The dragon looked at him with great interest.
"Arachnid Tribe? What's that and who are you talking about?" Wang Tian asked. He was bery confused.

'Arachnid Tribe? What's that? Is he talking about me?' Wang Tian thought to himself.
"Yes, Arachnid tribe. They're a tribe that is more powerful than the Dragon race. They come from the distant Planet Arachne. The Arachnid tribe are part of the... Demon race" The dragon said that last line very strangely. Wang Tian's answers greatly interested him.
'What's this? This kid doesn't know of his own tribe?'
"I'm talking about you" The dragon looked at him seriously.
"You've got to be joking. I'm a mere human! My father is just a blacksmith! And my mother..." Wang Tian found himself unable to say anything about his mother.
'Mother? Father never told me anything about her... I have no memories of her' Wang Tian thought to himself.
'Demon race??! There are demons in this world?!' Wang Tian continued thinking.
"It seems like there's a very interesting story behind your birth." the dragon said and then roared.
"I am the final guardian of my master's tomb. I will give you the test of bloodlines! I don't care if your bloodline is that of a tribe that is far superior to mine. My test has always been the test of bloodlines! My pride as a member of the Dragon Race forbids me from making unjust adjustments!" The dragon roared. The dragon race was always a righteous race. Even back then, when they still roamed the universe freely. They were a race that enacts justice to those oppressed.
"A test of bloodlines?" Wang Tian mumbled. The blood inside his body started to boil. It seems like it was angered by the thought of being challenged by someone as lowly as the dragon race.
The dragon chose this test even if he knew that there was a very high chance that he was going to be defeated. The bloodline of a tribe from the demon race was not something to be laughed at. The demon race is a race that strikes fear to those who mentions their name. They were a violent, brutal, lustful and reckless race. They loved to fight. But more than a thousand years ago, they stopped wreaking havoc. Only those who have powerful cultivation know the reason why. That includes the dragon race. Although the dragon that Wang Tian was facing right now didn't have a monstrous cultivation base like his master, he was still a member of the dragon race. He knew that the reason why the demon race stopped their plague of destruction had something to do with the Arachnid Tribe. That's why he wasn't so hostile to Wang Tian even though he knew that Wang Tian was one of those vile demons.
The dragon roared and then in an instant a human appeared. This human was the other expert that came here before Wang Tian. He was captured by the dragon. The dragon had incredible foresight. He knew that this expert would be of use someday. That's why he captured him. This expert came here a thousand years ago. He defeated the three guardians successively. However, once he arrived at the dragon's lair, he found himself unable to beat the dragon. They fought using their bloodlines. However, his bloodline was infinitely weaker than that of the dragon's since he was only a human. That's why he lost. He didn't want to accept it. He resorted to force but still lost in the end. The dragon was put here because he was qualified to! He was the strongest amongst all the other guardians! Someone who followed that supreme master who rocked the universe with his strength wouldn't be weak.

The human expert was in a cage that was made from the dragon's Qi. It was something that not even Wang Tian's father could break in his present state. The human expert was sleeping when he appeared.
"Wake up" the dragon said arrogantly.
"Old D you don't get to order me around! We've been spending our time with each other for a thousand years already! I'm not afraid of you!" The human expert snorted. He then looked at Wang Tian.
"A little human brat? What are you doing here?" The human expert asked Wang Tian.
"I've come to challenge the dragon" Wang Tian replied.
"Challenge the dragon? With just your puny Xiantian cultivation? If I were free, I could kill you with just a single breath. Brat you don't have a chance! You still reek of your mother's milk! Go back home and cultivate for another million years and then come back. Then you might have a slight chance of defeating this sly old fox." The human expert mocked Wang Tian. It is normal for humans to scheme against each other. Humans are a prideful race that are full of greed and are very selfish.
'Humans never change' the dragon thought.
"Old friend, don't forget that my test isn't that of strength but that of bloodlines. You were defeated by me because your bloodline wasn't strong enough." The dragon mocked the human expert's arrogant tone.
"Don't push it Old D! You think this kid can defeat you.. eh???" The human expert was surprised when he noticed Wang Tian's left eye.
"A descendant of the Arachnid Tribe? You may have a chance! Brat, if you can defeat this dragon and set me free, you will forever have my, Liu Hao's thanks!" The human expert laughed and his eyes started to shine brightly. It was as if he didn't mock Wang Tian before.
'You dare mock me and think that I will help you? Let's see how I'll deal with you later' Wang Tian snorted to himself.
He looked at the human expert and pretentiously smiled at him as if telling the human expert that he agrees to his request.
The human expert's eyes shined and then he laughed out loud. "Old D! Looks like this old friend of yours will enjoy in watching you suffer!"
The dragon laughed and then said, "oh? You're on his side? Then it looks like It won't be an issue if we use you as the tool to measure our bloodlines?" The dragon grinned at him.
The human expert's face went pale and then said in fear, "what?! No-no way! I won't allow it!" He yelled as if he were in a position to bargain.
The dragon grinned at him evilly. "Did you know why you lasted for the time it takes an incense stick to burn back then? It's because I didn't take you seriously" the dragon said arrogantly.
"Hmp! Don't be so arrogant!" The human expert said angrily.
"Now child, with the voluntary assistance of this old friend of mine, we shall use him as a tool to measure the power of our bloodlines. Humans are a race that are on the neutral side. Their blood isn't subservient to other races. That's why they're the perfect tool to measure bloodlines!" The dragon explained to him.
"Hey! Fuck you! Who says I'm volunteering?!" The human expert scowled at the dragon.
The dragon roared, "be quiet!"
The human expert's mouth tightened in an instant.
'Using the power of our bloodlines eh? How? I don't even know this Arachnid Tribe that they're saying much less how to use the bloodline that they say I possess.' Wang Tian thought to himself.
As if knowing Wang Tian's thoughts,
"Do not worry, I'll go first so that you can understand how to utilize your bloodline." The dragon said.
The dragon walked towards the human expert. He lowered his head. He looked into the eyes of the human expert.
"What are you doing old friend? Are you in love with me now?" The human expert said.
The dragon didn't reply and instead, he circulated his blood. The aura of the sovereign of the skies slowly appeared! The owner of the heavens resurfaced!
The dragon's aura enveloped the human expert's body. The human expert tried to resist but it couldn't! It was as if his body wanted nothing more but to serve the dragon!
"Impossible! He had this ability with him when we fought! He didn't even use this and yet i still lost! Is the disparity between the two of us that large?!" The human expert blurted out and gritted his teeth.
"Kneel before the sovereign of the skies" the dragon said arrogantly.
"Thud" the knees of the human expert dropped down. The human expert coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"Dammit!" He said with great difficulty.
"You see old friend, back then I didn't take you too seriously. If I did, then you would have died in an instant! The power of us dragons aren't something that you humans can fathom!" The clear disdain for humans appeared in the dragon's tone.
The human expert felt as if Mount Tai was on his shoulders as he was forced to kneel down by the dragon.
The dragon looked at the human expert in disdain and then finally retracted the aura of his bloodline. He snorted at the human expert and then said, "if you can beat me then you will have the right to pass and go towards my master's legacy. As for whether you are capable of inheriting it, that will depend on your abilities"
