《Meta Human》Chapter 14: David is back

"Hello, guys. This is Alex." Abigail walked to her sister and her friends who were seated on the carpet discussing some questions.
They shifted their attention at the duo that just entered.
"This is awkward." Alex thought to himself as he quickly looked at the flow.
"Hi Alex." said one of them.
"Is he the one that got you that bracelet?..." he gasped as a thought crossed his mind, "Is he your boyfriend?"
"Stop it, Thomas. He's not. " Abigail said a little shy.
"Alright so which subject are you guys doing now?" asked Abigail quickly changing the topic.
"It's math" answered Julie who was leaning her head on a pillow.
After studying, Julie and Abigail decided to accompany their friends home.
"Alright, that was fun. It was a pleasure reading with you. Bye guys. " said Thomas and then branched off to his home.
"Bye." they bid him farewell.
Alex saw his brother from afar.
"Bye, Abigail, Julie, Val. I'll continue from here," he said then sped off to follow his brother.
He wanted to surprise him, so he followed behind him for some time.
David was now across the road and the next moment, a car swoosh passed him and he disappeared.
Alex scratched his head in confusion because just a second ago, he had eyes OK David across the road.
Alex headed back home and went straight to his room.
He took a quick bath and changed into a new set of clothes.
Alex picked out a piece of paper from his bag.
He has written down the subject exams they were going to do the week after.
They were to do English and mathematics on Monday, so he decided to just relax cause they were easy or to put it clearly, he had already studied them.

Alex lay on his bed, looking at the ceiling, thinking about Julie.
"Are you thinking about a girl?"David's voice could be heard.
Alex quickly sat up and noticed his brother leaning against the wall flushing him a playful smirk.
" How long have you been standing there?"
" Anyway no, it's none of your business. " Alex replied defensively.
David sighed; "Bro. I've been there. I bet you're thinking about a girl that doesn't like you back."
"No." Alex's face flushed red.
He picked up the pillow next to him and threw it at David.
"Hey... Am Judy speaking the facts. Hahaha," he laughed dodging the pillow.
But just as he dodges it, another flew at him.
"You're being nosy." said angry Alex.
"Haha haha, what's her name?"
"Julie." Alex's thoughts drifted away for a moment when he said that.
David went to Alex's bed and sat beside him; "If she doesn't like you, she doesn't like you. You gotta move on. There's someone out there for you." he placed his hand on Alex's shoulder, reassuring him.
"I wish it were that easy. I really like her. But she's always showing me an attitude." Alex said looking at the floor sadly.
"If she's shoeing you an attitude then that's her way of telling you she ain't interested, You shouldn't be abscessed to the extent that she can see it. Just act like you don't know her and you'll get her attention. Maybe you'll become friends."
"Is that reverse psychology? Can it even work?" asked Alex doubting what David just said.
" Now why would I tell you something I haven't tried and tested. " David said with a playful smirk, "I had come to call you for dinner," he walked to the door, "Let's go."

They said grace and had their dinner.
As Alex had his dinner he remembered that Alvin had told him to practice his telepathy at home.
Alex did as he had done when he was with Alvin.
He couldn't make out clear voices cause they were all tangled up.
He then envisioned the voices into colored strings just as Alvin told him.
He picked out a red string from the pile of disorganized strings.
"Hmmm...I wonder what Marga is going to do this time." he heard his mom's thoughts. She was thinking about a sop on TV.
His mom's thoughts were quite funny. She only thought of sops.
Alex then picked up a blue string from his subconscious, and immediately he heard his dad's thoughts;" What should I get Jessy for our wedding anniversary?"
He went into the next string, an orange one, but whenever he tried concentrating on it, it would turn black and disappear then reappear again.
"How comes I can't get into David's head?" he thought to himself.
After the dinner, Alex went to his room and texted Alvin.
"What does it mean when I can't read through a string?"
Alvin replied almost instantly; "It means that person's thoughts a protected. Why?"
"Nothing just curious?"
Alex stared into the air in thought.
He snapped out of it when he got another mortification from the bracelet; "Good night Alex." Abigail texted with a sleepy emoji.
"Good night," Alex replied.
Alex didn't go to sleep yet since it was a weekend.
He decided to stay up till midnight, playing an online game on his laptop.
He finally got tired and headed to sleep.
Alex appeared to be in a dream again, but not his own. He just stood there and watched.
Dr. Hudson sat at his desk looking at the photo frame in his arms.
It was a picture of him, his wife and daughter.
He caressed the photo with his thumb then put it back on his desk.
His thoughts drifted to another world.
Rain hit the car roof Dr. Hudson and his family were in.
He had pulled over by a supermarket.
He removed the seatbelt across his chest then looked at his wife on the passenger seat;
"I'll go buy you some snacks. Okay. Wait for me darling it won't take long."
He opened the car door and stepped out strapping his coat over his head.
He ran to the supermarket doors and immediately he touched the door, he heard his car's engine start.
He immediately looked back only to find out a masked man in pursuit had entered his car and sped off with his family.
He ran behind the car but the distance between them only increased until he eventually stopped gasping for air as he cried for help.
Three black SUVs swoosh past him following his car.
He thought that finally someone was going to help him but that wasn't the case.
Another masked man in the first SUV put his head out of the car and shot at the car in front of him with his submachine gun.

I have no Idea what will come of this, but it should at least be a fun experience for all involve. The writing improves gradually as the chapters go on. I invariably learn some stuff after writing a bunch, finding what works and what doesn't. I definately need to work on paceing and dialouge and flow. Those are the three main goals for now. **Chapter lengths float around the 2300 to 2500 word range as of current chapter Thank you and happy reading.
