《Meta Human》Chapter 17: robbery

"Hello" Ruff greeted on the other line.
"Has Alex been with you?"
"Yes, he has."
Henry put down his phone and nodded at Alex.
"There's food in the kitchen," he said.
Alex wasted no time and went to the kitchen immediately.
"Why do they have to be such control freaks." Alex breathed a sigh of relief.
He went to his room after having his dinner and slept immediately.
Hudson stood in front of clones lined up.
They wore serious faces as if they had no emotions.
"There's a shipment of tachium tonight. I want it," he said and the clones nodded and left the premises.
Alex woke up early the next morning and did his routine.
His bracelet flushed as he organized his collar.
A screen display on his arm.
Mutation: telepathy level 1
And a blue upward arrow showed on the number 1.
He turned off the bracelet and grabbed his backpack then went to school immediately.
Alex sat at his new assigned desk flipping through page pages in his textbook.
A student who was seated to his right kept throwing a surprised look whenever Alex flipped to the next page.
"I bet he hasn't understood anything." he thought to himself.
Alex smiled when he heard his thoughts but ignored them.
After another minute, Alex was done with the book and he closed it.
He lazily tapped his pencil on the desk as he waited for prep time to end.
After 20 minutes, the bell rang and everyone exited the classrooms to store away the book they were reading in their lockers.
The latter came back to class and found the examiner already standing at the front of the class.
He gave everyone the papers and the examinations commenced.
Alex finished half an hour earlier than the rest of the class as usual and sat lazily at his desk.

"Times up." The examiner said and the students handed in their papers.
Alex stood at his locker picking the textbook of the subject they wet doing next.
As he turned to leave, someone bumped into him and the book fell.
"Oh sorry." She bent down to pick up Alex's book.
She tacked the black silky hair falling over her eyes behind her ear as she stood up.
Her appearance was unique in Alex's school.
She wore a black leather jacket that matched her black trousers.
She wore black lipstick.
It made her look like a demon was that just crawled out of the depths of hell.
"Thank you," Alex said taking the book in her hands.
Her eyes flashed red and back to their normal color, brown.
Then she walked to her class.
Alex didn't know if what he saw was real or not because it all happened so fast.
He turned to look at her leave.
He shrugged it off and went to class to flip through his book.
The exams ended later at 4 pm and everyone went back home.
Alex tossed his backpack on the couch.
He sat down and picked the remote on the table in front of him and turned on the TV.
"Mysterious happenings have been taking place lately. From money suddenly disappearing from the bank with no trace to a person melt to water. What could be the cause?" a news anchor said on TV.
Alex watched on carefully.
"And... Oh... An incoming call from Jeff." and immediately the screen behind the TV anchor displayed a reporter standing outside the bank, "So Jeff can you tell us what is going on there."
The red and blue lights from the police vehicles illuminated the news reporter's face.
"Am standing outside City Bank right now where a robbery is taking place.

An armed man is inside right now and has held people hostage. The police are trying whatever they can to solve this problem."
The new anchor lifted his arm above his face to avoid the gushing wind that suddenly blew in his direction.
The sensors of the vehicles parked around went off and they started making noise.
A man in a black and blue suit covering his face down to his feet suddenly stood at the entrance of the bank.
Blue sparks ignited from his body.
He then disappeared from the entrance and was now on the bank where the employees were lying in the ground with their arms above their heads.
A man in a black mask stood at the counterpointing his submachine gun at the cashier.
"Hurry," he said without a worry like as if he didn't know the police were outside.
The cashier behind the counter trembled as she loaded the black back with money.
The masked man turned around when he felt a gust of wind hit his back.
"Good to see you again." he spread both his arms wide still holding the gun in his right hand and took two steps forward.
Alex could only see the far as the camera saw through the glass walls of the bank. He leaned closer to the TV.
But all he could see were two figures standing face to face with each other.
He recognized the figure blazing with blue sparks; "Uncle Ruff?" he asked himself.
In the bank, Ruff sparked even more and his eyes glowed bluer.
The masked man seeing this said, "Your fast. But you can't stop me." he then laughed wickedly.
Ruff disappeared but then suddenly, a green force field appeared around the masked man, and immediately, Ruff was sent flying landing on the wall with a thud.
The masked man smiled seeing Ruff like that.
Although he was wearing a mask, someone could see when he was smiling by the crow's feet that formed on his eyes.
"I told you... You can't stop me." he turned to the cashier and stretched out his free hand for the black bag filled to the brim with cash; "I'll take my leave now." he said then walked towards the glass door while whistling.
"Three." said Ruff standing up on his feet, "Two."
The masked man turned to look at him when he heard him count down.
He immediately knew something wasn't right and immediately activated a force field.
"One."

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
