《Meta Human》Chapter 19: be like you

"Hey Abi." Alex said holding the eight strap of his back pack.
"Hey, we're having a house party this weekend. You coming?" said am excited Abigail.
Alex thought for a while before replying, "I'll see but I can't guarantee."
That wasn't the answer Abigail was hopping for but at least it wasn't a no.
They latter met up with Thomas, Julie and Calvin then went back home together as they chatted.
Alex knocked rang the door bell for some time but there was no response.
" Where the hell could have David gone?"he thought to himself.
He sighed in frustration then tapped on his Circrate bracelet and called David.
"Hello David, am at home but no ones here I need to get in." he said raising his wrist to his chin.
"I won't be back home for while. Tell mom and dad but I left the key under the door mat." the party on the other line said.
Alex's tensed expression seemed to have eased a little after hearing that.
"Alright. Thanks bye." he said the hang up the call.
He flipped the door mat and got out the keys then opened the door and went straight to his room.
Since he no longer has exams to do, he took a quick bath and left the house.
He met Rudd at his apartment door looking through his keys.
It looked like he had just got there.
"Uncle."
Ruff turned around and looked at Alex with a friendly smile.
"Oh Alex, what brings you here?"
"Can we go inside first?" Alex said pointing at the door.
"Oh sure... Sure" Ruff finally got the key to the apartment and he quickly opened it.
They both stepped in and Alex made himself comfortable on the sofas.

Ruff continued to the kitchen and brought back tow cups of coffee with him.
"So... Anything you want to discuss?" he said handing Alex one mug.
He then sat down sipping his mug of coffee.
"I saw you on TV the other day... And..."Alex paused.
" And?"
"I want to be like you."
Ruff's mood changed for the worse when he heard what Alex said.
He stopped his hand holding the the mug half way to his mouth then placed he in the glass table in front of him; "What do you mean Alex?" he asked as if not understanding what Alex just said.
He understood what he meant but he didn't want to be true.
Alex insisted on what he said and repeated it again.
Ruff frowned hard when he heard it the second time.
"No you can't and you won't." his voice seemed a little deeper than usual.
"But unc..." before Alex could complete the sentence, Ruff interrupted while raising he palm gesturing him to stop, "No buts Alex."
"Why?" Alex couldn't help but ask displeased.
He finds out he has powers but fate plays a joke on him because he can't use them.
He surely wouldn't accept it.
"Because... It's dangerous."
"I have powers, don't I? And your telling me to sit at home doing nothing with them."
The atmosphere in the apartment tensed up.
"Alex, you don't understand. You'll risk putting your life in danger." Ruff pinched the skin between his brows in worry.
"I am ready for the danger, uncle." Alex said still insisting on his plan.
Ruff could only rub the skin on his fore head in frustration. "Alex listen..." before he could complete Alex interrupted with another long explanation.
Ruff pressed his temples as he listened to Alex until he couldn't take it any longer.

He raised his voice while standing up on anger; "You can't Alex just listen."
Alex was a little shaken hearing his uncle raise his voice at him for the first time.
Ruff calmed down and spoke softly after realizing his sudden out burst, "Listen, there are a lot of Metas out there. Not just any Metas, dangerous criminals. What will you do if they found out your real identity and threatened your family?"
Alex thought that what Ruff said and nodded his head as his eyes wandered.
"And not to mention Hudson. He can do what ever he likes since he has the money." Ruff paused, "I've been in this work for a while now and I know what kinds of dangers lay out there."
"Exactly uncle. That's why I'm still insisting. You can't handle all this alone."
Ruff couldn't handle his nephew's stubbornness any longer and just agreed after considerable thought.
Alex made sense. He couldn't handle all those metas by himself. He needed more metas on his team.
He let out a deep sigh while holding his waist and down at his nephew on the sofa, " Alright. But on one condition. "
A pleased smile immediately formed on Alex's face when he heard his uncle. He didn't hesitate a bit and accepted the condition even without knowing what it was.
The tension in the apartment eased up a bit and Alex plates a video game with Ruff for an hour before finally heading back home at dusk.
He found his dad in the living snuggling with his mom as they watched news.
"Hello mom, dad." he greeted.
They turned to look at Trevor who had just entered and greeted him back with a smile.
"David said he won't be home for some time."
"That's alright."
Alex made his way upstairs and played online games until they called him for dinner.
After the dinner he went back to his room and slept immediately.
Alex moaned in pain in his sleep as cold beads of sweat escaped his fore head.
He floated above his bead along with the things in his room.
"No. No. No." he shot his eyes open and immediately gravity affected him and he fell back down on his bed.
The sound of things falling filled the air.
He sat up on his bed as he breathed heavily.
His mom came to check on him when she heard the loud screams he gave out in the middle of the night.
She looked around his room noticing the mess it were currently in.
But her gaze moved towards Alex who sat up in his bed looking in blank air and breathing heavily.
She hurried to him and comforted him; "Sshh shh... It was just a dream Alex. Calm down."
Alex calmed down and went back to sleep almost immediately.
