Alex slid his bed room window open and climbed down to the ground. He winced in pain when from the sting the impacts gave to his injuries.
But suddenly, Uncle Ralph appeared out of no where with sparks going through his body.Alex squinted and raised his arm above his eyes to protect them from the gust of wind that came after.
"What happened to you?""It's nothing, I got into a fight.""What do you mean you got into a fight? And you got beaten up bad at that. I thought you were now level three."
"My powers failed to work. Moreover they were three." Alex looked away embarrassed."Hmmm." Ralph paused, "Alright come with me."He held Alex's arm and win an instant they vanished leaving a cloud of dust behind.
Ralph stopped in the Hq's hall way sending the papers around them flying."Agggh... How many times do I have to tell you to stop that?" complained Tammie as she bent down to pick the papers."Sorry."
"Tammie, would you please do a quick check up on Alex. Join me, Stark and Alvin after that.""And you can't say please." Tammie said in an exaggerated angry tone raising her twin peaks."Alright please."
"Good boy." she said in a please tone then turned to Alex, "Follow me." And with that they immediately left.Ralph looked at the two leave and couldn't help but chuckle.
He proceed to the lounge where he found Alvin listening to loud music."Your back. Calvin said when he caught sight of Ralph and then clapped twice which made the music stop.
"Yep" Ralph simply said then let out a deep sigh as he fell on the couch.
*at the test room*"Hmm. Interesting." Tammie said looking at the results on the screen in front of her."Anything wrong." Alex couldn't help but feel nervous.
"The readings on your mutation keeps on changing.""Soo....?" Alex asked raining one brow up."So... You're powers will come and go. That's your body a way of adjusting to the cell mutations. This happens when you've just gone through a break through. No big deal."
After the test, they proceeded. to meet Ralph and Alvin at the lounge. "Great you're done." Ralph said standing up, "Alex, follow me."
Ralph took Alex down to the confines in the basement. "What are we doing here?" "Nothing much, just paying and old friend a visit." A boy could be seen through the glass wall lying on his bed. He played with a ball throwing it up and down. But then suddenly, he halted;"What brings you here?" he said without looking after sensing footsteps approaching.

"Oh how are ya boy. We need to ask some questions." Ralph turned to Alex, "try and read his mind."The boy chuckled revealing a sneer;"And what makes you think I'll answer." "Cause if you do, we'll let you go." "Hmmm."
"So, what's your name?"Ralph crossed his arms above his chest. "Joseph." the boy answered in a non bothered tone. Ralph turned to look at Alex. "I can't read it. Hold on. Tammie says it comes and goes. Give me a second."
Ralph turned his head back to the boy and continued his interrogation; "Alright, we'll take you're word for it." he paused, "Do you know those people you were with?""yes.""Are they part of an organisation?" A smirk formed on Joseph's face and he continued playing around with his tiny ball. "I asked a question kid." "I know." he halted his play, "I don't want to answer that."
"Don't you want to be free?" but the latter didn't receive an answer. "Alex." Ralph simply said. "He doesn't know anything about that." Alex answered kinda bemused. "Are you trying to play around with us?"Ralph looked at angrily.
" I didn't say anything wrong. I just said I won't tell you about that. I didn't say I know. "the boy defended bemused. Ralph let out a sigh as he shook his head;" Alright, how did you get acquainted to them. "
" hmmm. Well it's a long story. "Joseph said striking his chin with his index finger," My father met my mom, he let his little swimmers in and I was made.... "Joseph paused smirking when he saw the angered face staring at him." Okay, maybe that's too far. "he paused," Anyway, that lady found me through a friend of my friend's friend's sister's brother's friend.... "Joseph said innocently but with a playful smirk. " Okay kid, you're really testing my patience."Ralph pinched the skin between his brows as he spoke. Although his voice wasn't that loud, it was filled with a chilling intent.
" Okay okay. Am done. That lady caught me using my powers once and she hired me work with her in her so called next mission. Well the reward was hefty so how could I refuse. And I need money for my sick mother in the hospital." Joseph paused with a glint of sorrow in his eyes," Anyway it was a one time. thing. So that's why you found me there. "

Ralph looked at Alex and he received a node signaling he was telling the truth. Ralph proceeded with his questions. " So you're not related to them whatsoever?" "Correct."
"Hmmm.""Alvin. You can unlock the door now." Ralph said through the earpiece on his ear. And in just a moment, the glass door clicked as it unlocked.
"You can come out now."The Joseph stepped out of the confinement then looked back at his bed; "Awww. I was starting to love that thing." he said playfully. "You know you can go back in if you want." "No no... I'm just kidding." the boy hurriedly defended after hearing Ralph's serious tone.
"Perfect then." And with just that Ralph led Joseph and Alex to the lounge. "Wow. That's so cool." Joseph drooled over his shirt when he saw the futuristic room in front of him. Ralph coughed bemused, being him back to reality. The boy took a step ahead but then a red flash caught his attention.Hr subconsciously looked down to his foot noticing the anklet he still had on.
"Wait. Aren't you going to remove this?""Nope. Still don't trust you." "Hmmm fair enough. I tried to kill you." Joseph said biting his bottom lip as he looked away.
Alex would have loved to stay but he was getting tired. He informed his uncle and with in an instant, he was outside his house. "It would be cool if I was a speedster. But I have this stupid telepathy." He said inwardly as he looked at the empty space from where he came from. He climbed up his window and went to sleep.
"Hawk I need your help." A female voice yelled. This time Alex was in another unrelated dream. The sky above him had a weird reddish colour. It gave off the feeling of being in hell.
But the, the earth quaked violently. Alex looked at where the quake came from only noticing a giant foot print in the ground and a giant running towards the girl that yelled.
Without farther hesitation, he started running. It was like he wasn't in control of his body. Wings sprang out of his back and immediately he leaped into the air and flew towards the giant. "I won't let you touch them Thudius."
Who was this Thudius he mentioned? But judging from the direction he was headed, he could guess it was the giant ahead of him.
He quickly flew over to the girl who screamed who was currently helping her companion move to escape for their lives.
He stood in between the giant and his friends and crossed his wings around his body to shield himself giant axe that was headed his way. Dust rose when the two objects collided. When the dust settled, the so called Hawk could be seen standing quite a distance away due to the impact that pushed him back.
But just then, he leapt into air and flew directly at the giant with ring of fire forming in his hands. He threw the fireball right at the giant's eye.
A familiar voice spoke behind him. "Alex, wake up."He turned around to see the source of the voice noticing a strange creature. A talking cat in boots with a hat.
"Puss in boots?" he asked trying to come to terms with what he was seeing. "Alex. It's time for breakfast." And without another word he was in reality.
The vague image of his mother shaking him was the first thing he saw. "Yess....am awake."Jessy had a bemused smile on her face as she looked at the Alex, "You still dream about puss in boots?" she chuckled later following with a little laughter.
"It's not funny mom." he shied away in embarrassment. "Alright...have a shower and come down for breakfast." But she couldn't help but continue laughing as she stood up and left Alex's room.
Alex sat up and let out a loud sigh as he rubbed his eyes to take away the little sleep remaining in them. He then took a shower and dressed up.
But as he was checking himself out in the mirror, a notification came in. He quickly displayed it and it was Abigail message. Whatsapp message from Abigail: hey, good morning. How are you now? He sent a text that he was fine. But shortly after five minutes, he received another message. *Can you pass by my place? I need your help with the preparations for the party*
He had completely forgotten it was already Saturday. "Yes I'll be there shortly." he replied.
Alex wore a white hoodie on top of his shirt and proceeded downstairs.

Grim Beginnings
For most, ghosts and monsters were fantasy. For Tessa Byrne-Reyes, they were a constant in her daily life as a reaper. The legendary gods and creatures of mythology were, to her, historical figures. From a young age, she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, possessing what she saw as a curse but what her family considered a gift. It was her birthright, to use her abilities to guide the deceased to the afterlife of an eternity in peace or in torment. Her classmates viewed her as "the fainting girl" who would pass out in the middle of a lesson with inexplicable injuries. She experienced each death in the town of Belmont Falls, from the mundane to the gruesome. A gunshot wound in the gut, broken ribs, her heart ceasing to beat for several minutes. No one understood what caused these incidents but over the years, she gained a reputation for being abnormal. While Tessa is the freak of Belmont Falls, Fin Belmont, the charming rebel and son of the richest man in town, is her polar opposite. Knowing each other for years but never saying more than a dozen words between them, one night changes everything, thrusting them into each other's unfamiliar and daunting worlds. Together, with the help of her best friend/his ex-girlfriend Elena, they begin to unravel secrets about their town and their pasts, learning that some secrets are better left buried and grudges can be held for centuries.
