《Heart of a tree》Chapter-12 NEW LIFE{PART 1}

I was surprised at myself, few hours I was having a panic attack, crying, cursing and whatnot
Now a few hours here I was sitting in a boiling hot room thinking how I could get out of here how I could kill those mother fuckers
In the beginning, I was considering killing myself, but crying for a few minutes, I grew angry at myself for thinking such, it wasn’t the promise I made to my father or any other wishy-washy reason,
It was a simple sweet cliched thirst of revenge and I wasn’t going to use a knife to destroy them I wanted to use my own bare hands
I wasn’t some super smart person who can think six moves ahead and plan the destruction of my enemies from a safe distance and going down that road was not going to help me.
The more I thought about myself, my situation the angrier I grew
They wanted my eyes so took them killed granny in the process and To put salt on wounds they not only left me alive they healed me
My anger soon turned into rage, I wanted to grab that gold man who took my eyes and tear him limb from limb
I was blind there was no point denying it I wasn’t going to see anything anytime soon, but that didn’t mean I was helpless this was a magical world where there were humans who were literally superman with flying, lasers eyes and shit.
I had memorized the cultivating techniques that granny Yu had given me but without knowing what spiritual roots I have or even if I have any these techniques were useless so that left me with the martial art technique named ’oceanic tide body art’, the Confucianist technique “True flaming essence art” and the ‘ghost technique ‘5-ghost body art’
The martial technique in beginning was easy enough I needed to practise certain exercises to create a state of mind where I can simulate my vital energy, which in turn can aid me senses the Heavenly vital energy but that is just the beginning I would need medicinal baths, medicinal supplements and even body tuning equipment which I didn't have
The ghost technique was a combination of body and martial technique didn't require anything but perseverance, luck and five fucking ghosts which would attach themself to me and stimulate my body potential and aid me generating ghostly energy which I would use to subdue these ghosts and harness the yin Qi to cultivate, now where would I get 5 ghosts to get started
That left me with the Confucianist technique ‘true flaming essence art’ that was also had a heavy requirement it required a seed of thought with fire nature what that was I didn't know; granny had said that required a teacher to plant on me
I began growing frustrated with my condition the more I thought about it, none of the techniques I had could be practised with me being locked in this prison and without any support from anybody
A sharp pain through my left abdomen, interrupted my chain of thought, as I waited for the pain to subside the moment of silence brought me a clarity
Rome wasn’t built in a day I had to first take small steps to reach my goal,
First, I had to learn more about my situation, I went back to the place where I was conversing with the old man just now
“Hey old man” I shouted
“What?” the old man replied irritated

“Old man where are we? how did I get here?”
Instead of an answer that could shed some light on my situation I heard a shrill laugh first
“Didn’t your parents teach you etiquette stop calling me old man this old man and you are in purgatory”
I wanted to hold this man and beat the living crap out of him instead I suppressed my anger and shouted
“Junior has seen old senior, cand old find it in his heart and forgive this ignorant junior?”
Another shrill laugh
“Good, Good, Good, you have some manners after all”
“Can old senior enlighten this junior about this place?” I asked striking the iron while it was hot
“Purgatory camp of sunglass valley” came a prompt reply
“Where is that?” I asked back confused
“You don’t know?” a surprised voice came
“NO” I answered
“Wait a minute I will come to you”
That reply blew my mind out of the water, isn't this is a prison weren’t the doors locked, I heard the rattling of iron doors and then some footsteps then the same iron rattling sounds
“Move aside let the old man come in” a voice sounded right next to me
I was startled and for the second time today I fell back on my butt
“Much better” the same voice came it must be The old man
I felt confused the voice no longer sounded rough, hoarse voice of an old man, it had become smoother and deeper
“Oh, you are just a child, no wonder you don’t have any answers” the old man continued
I decided to sit instead of getting up
“You don’t seem to be a practitioner of any sorts; you seem to be mortal” I heard him analysis
I was surprised by the assessment, but before I could say anything he continued
“Tell me kid do you practice something that I can’t sense?”
I shook my head and asked
“What is a practitioner?”
He ignored me
“That means No”
“Then why are you in the practitioner section of the camp in the foreman room no less”
The first question that came to my mind was what the hell, practitioners camp foreman I was growing more confused and anxious
Then I heard a sound like a clap
“Oh, I know the foreman must have taken a liking to you, so he brought you here?” said the old man
“Taken a liking to?” I asked dreading the answer
“Oh, he has a preference for men rather than women, do you understand what I'm trying to tell you” He answered rather gingerly
“yes” was all I could answer
“Well good luck” old said
In a panic, I shouted “wait” and tries to hold man but all I touched was air
“What now?,” the old man asked back
“What is this place?” I asked
“Oh, it’s a mining camp one of many presents in sunglass valley” he replied
“Where is sunglass valley” I fired another question
“Hmmm difficult question well the closest landmark I can tell is sun eating mountain range”
That made no sense to me so I gave that line of questioning, instead, I tried to be friends with this man
“What's your name?”
“Old Bu, but you can call me senior Bu” he replied
Asshole, I wasn’t going to get anywhere with him if I continued in This direction
“Can you help me, I'm scared?” I said in my most childish voice

I decide to ask this old man for help I saw no other way, if I was about to be raped I needed to get help
Old began to laugh
“Child if it had been anyone else, they would be fooled but not me I can see the intelligence in your eyes,” he said
I gritted my teeth and answered “I don’t have eyes, not anymore”
“Did I say eyes? I meant face I saw the intelligence on your face” old said without skipping a beat
I ignored his tomfoolery and repeated my question in a normal voice this time
“Can you help me?”
“Help you in what” the old man asked
“You know Not getting raped, finding my ropes such things” I answered
“I don’t know how to get your ropes” the old man continued
I was getting frustrated and scared that the old didn’t want to help me
“Please help me?,” I said desperation clear in a voice my perseverance to climb to the top and kill all my enemies lasted all but a few minutes
How could I think about revenge when I wasn’t sure I could live through the night?
“Oh, I understand what you want help with?,” the old man said
I was afraid to hear the answer
“You want my help to survive”
“YES!!!!” I shouted
I had to admit this was put much more elegantly than I could ever possibly do. I was elevated that the old man can help me and by the sound of it he will help me
“I can help but why should I?” the old man words poured cold water on my hopes
But being in the sales game long enough I knew, that it was not the old man who didn’t want to help me but he wanted something in return
Sales 101
I tried to sell myself
“Senior, I'm young and eager for strength I can be useful to you”
The old man began to laugh again I hated that Damm laugh
“Tell me your story boy?”
I didn’t know this man and he hasn’t told me he will help me
So, I did the obvious thing, I LIED
“I was a servant in the main Liu family house, who made the mistake of bumping into some senior for I was punished,” I said
The Oldman made a clicking sound
“Good lie kid”
I didn’t miss a beat “I didn't lie”
“Yes, you did, the wound of your eyes is completely healed which shows that you were blinded a long time ago, but from your movement, I can tell that you are not used to being blinded Those points to you losing your sight recently”
I was surprised by the analysis and decide to tell half the truth but before I could do that
I felt the sharp pain from my ribs again rendering me unable to reply
“what's wrong with you” I head the old man ask
I wasn’t in the mood to answer, so I stayed quiet
Suddenly I felt rough hands undershirt, I tried to back away buy some held me in place it was very similar when I was picked by the flying old man at the pagoda
I felt the pain intensify as the rough hands do something against my ribs
“Interesting very interesting” the man murmured to himself
The man took his hands and I fell to the ground, the pain started to subside
I spoke with head down
“What is interesting?”
“This” I felt the same rough hand grab my Sholder and pass something cool in my hand
I felt it cold ring with a smooth surface, I remembered the ring granny had shown me
“Senior Bu, what colour is it?” I asked this man called old Bu
“silver” with that answer I surprised myself twice today I started to cry
“Whose ring isn’t?” senior Bu asked
“My grandmothers” I answered
The room became quiet with only my sobbing sound to be heard
“Look kid I don’t know who you are, If a believed your story someone blinded you then healed you and then sent you here a place where you will surely die and your grandmother who can sculpt your flesh a nascent divinity realm ability”
I was shocked by the information granny Yu was a nascent divinity realm master?
“So, tell me child why will I help someone who lies to me, not to mention your complex identity”
I was silent after that
I didn’t hear footsteps or the iron bar rustling so this old Bu did not leave he was waiting for my answer
“My name is...
I paused for a second choosing what to tell him
“My name is David; I don’t know my parents I was raised by my grandmother at the red star sect..............................
I told him half-truths and half lie telling a story of a man who I just invented I told him about the torture I told him about the golden eyes and about the fight at the pagoda I didn’t tell him my given name ‘Liu Wang’ I didn’t tell him about my birth parents nor that I was a reincarnation just that I changed some facts to make it more believable
After I was done there was silence neither of us spoke
“David huh a western name and golden eyes, interesting very interesting” Old Bu murmured to himself
I waited there quietly my anxiousness had disappeared I had accepted my fate, whatever happens, will happen I can’t stop it
“Look Kid I will help you; it won’t be the kind of help you have in mind”
I stayed quiet waiting for him to continue
“I will train you in my practice it won’t be easy and when it is done, I will make a request you can’t refuse”
Old Bu said in a Solem tone
I didn’t hesitate
“I will do anything seniors asks of me”
“Are you sure child?” old asked again
This help was like a heavenly blessing I wasn’t seeing any other option in front of me to get out of this mess
how can’t I be sure this seems like my only chance?
If I had any other choice I would refuse his help in a heartbeat, Everything about this situation was too surreal to coincidental
his room is right next to the room I was in
I couldn't afford to risk confirming his gay foreman story
and his help came to timely of course I was not 100% sure and of course I was doubtful
but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth
“Then rest we will begin tomorrow” with that I heard the old man leave I heard the iron bar door shut
I just sat there feeling melancholy with granny’s ring in my hand
I will survive and I will live, I couldn't wait for tomorrow
Tomorrow my new life begins

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion.
