Pxan was walking in the residential area when he saw a large crow of people that had gathered near one of the richest homes in that district. The district manager had died but the crowd wasn’t there for it. Dead is a natural fact of existence and must be accepted, what is so exceptional about another dead man at the end?
No what really suprised them was that the entire building was closed by the police and the manager in question was under investigation for crimes against the state and the council. His body was also torn in half, like some sort of beast had attacked him in the final moments.
No one knew what to say, even if saying anything. In the manuals, there wasn’t a situation like this. > one of the men in the crowd said > the crowd seeing that a command was given they obeyed. Soon everyone, including his family and close friends took distances from the man and abandoned the place. Only Pxan and a few others remained.
A man placed his heavy arm on Pxan shoulder > it was Lhyps, he had been called there because a few of his robo-dogs and men had been assign to this investigation > the men with the robo-dogs agreed with the head.
It wasn’t hard to kill a man, even a district manager if one sat his mind to it. Everyone had some secret, some little crimes committed in the past for the sake of a greater good, especially when said people hadn’t been so wealthy, to begin with.
Rudolf, that was the manager name, had cheated on several tests, corrupted many officials, seduced a few people and evaded taxes several times. For his position, he was way too clean. It wasn’t that hard for a member of the inquisition to find those Infos and documents and delivered them to the police. But not the local district police, no. That was too much in his control. Why not that bunch of brutal policemen with Robo-hounds?

But Lhpys was right, this was too brutal and unnecessary, next time only silencing.
In a few days, time another manager came in charge. This time he didn’t even come near that house. After a bit people stopped denouncing Pxan for being weird and so Pxan could finally work in peace to his next project. After weeks of trials, he had managed to construct a walking robo-dog. There was just a problem he didn’t bit, he was useless in combat. He needed to upgrade it. In order to do so, he needed some “extra-legal” pieces of equipment.
To his surprise no one in the inquisition seemed to care about the legality and it was Rene himself who introduced him to the mystical world of the black market.

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.
