Ch. 3 Scarlet
He grabbed Scarlet's hand and pulled her outside. Once they were out of sight he told her "Let's get you something new to wear".
"Do you want to walk or should I call a cab?" Said Lucius.
"Lets walk"
She had never been to the mall before. She wasn't able to afford anything there anyway. At least not anything she couldn't find at one tenth price in the market. Everything at the market had been used before and was rather old but she couldn't afford much else.
"I'm giving you a budget of ten thousand marks. I didn't get my credit card this morning and that all I have in my pocket" Said Lucius.
Scarlet didn't know if she had heard him right. Ten thousand marks was what her brother made in a year of work
"What?" Said Scarlet with absolute confusion in her soft voice.
"I only have ten thousand marks to spend today" Said Lucius still holding her hand.
She didn't want to spend his money on anything. She felt like it would be wrong to use his money for herself. She didn't just want to tell him he couldn't buy her anything because she had already dragged him this far.
"And just in case you are thinking that you owe me anything you don't. I am doing this because I know you deserve it" Said Lucius.
Scarlet didn't know what to say. She felt like she was using him but she had never asked him to.
She opened her mouth "You don't have to do this".
"I know that, I told you already you idiot. Do you actually think I don't know that? I am doing this because I care about you" Said Lucius turning away from her.
She didn't know he truly felt nothing towards her. He viewed her as just a pretty thing to look at. Just something to look at when bored.

"Really?" Said Scarlet with joy.
"Why would I lie to you" Said Lucius.
She felt happy that he cared for her. Aside from her family few people did.
"How old are you?" Asked Scarlet still holding his hand.
"I don't know" Said Lucius.
She thought this was odd but she could just ask Athena later. They reached the mall and he looked at her.
"Are you hungry?" Said Lucius.
"No" Said Scarlet.
"Why are you lying to me?"
"Really I'm not" Said Scarlet attempting to seem more convincing.
"Let's go get some food" Said Lucius.
They walked to a fancy restaurant and walked up to a waiter.
"Sorry kids no hand outs" Said the man.
"Shut your mouth you pig, give me the most expensive garbage on your menu and a large table" Said Lucius.
"Now watch your mouth" Said the man.
"Give me the most expensive food on your menu and a large table" Said Lucius holding out a massive stack of cash.
"Well of course" Said the man.
Lucius handed the man two hundred marks and said "Thank you for your hospitality".
They were seated at a table for two and Scarlet was impressed. He seemed to be in control of the place within minutes. A tall thick man walked up behind Lucius. Scarlet could see he was well off because his clothing alone was worth more than her house.
"Lucius? Is that you?" Said the man.
"Moriarty, how are you" Said Lucius.
"I am well and who is your lovely friend" Said Moriarty with a thick old voice.
"She is Scarlet"
"Nice to meet you" Said Scarlet.
He seems overjoyed and shook her hand.
"I haven't seen you at the table lately. You got a few million last time, and thank you for the ten percent cut" Said the man with a chuckle.

"Perhaps I will this week. And just remember to follow all my instructions, getting the jackpot will be no problem" Said Lucius.
"Well I will leave you to enjoy your dinner with your girlfriend. And your cut will be in your account tomorrow morning" Said Moriarty with a tilt of his hat.
"Thank you and have a good day Moriarty" Said Lucius.
Scarlet wanted to ask why he was gambling but didn't want to make him mad. They brought over beautifully decorated food. It smelled better than it looked and it looked like paradise. Scarlet ate everything even the garnish and decorations. Lucius ate a small place of ice cream. They brought one to Scarlet. She noticed Lucius was making small noises and seemed to be more than enjoying his food. She stood up and walked over to Lucius. He turned towards her.
She leaned in and whispered in his ear
"You seem to really be enjoying that food".
He coughed and blushed slightly. She walked over with her rum ice cream and gave him a spoon full. They finished eating and left the restaurant and walked out.
"So do you want to check out the clothing store?" Said Scarlet.
He took her hand and said "I'd rather check you out".
They walked to a jewelry store. He walked and looked around the fancy store.
He picked up a few diamond earrings and said "Which do you like more?".
"I don't know" Said Scarlet.
"I mean me or the earrings" Said Lucius.
Scarlet covered her face with her hands "You".
She felt the warmth cover her face. He grabbed her hand and walked over to the cash register. He bought the earrings and handed them to Scarlet. They spent a decent amount of time looking at the jewelry.
"Want to share a smoothie?" Asked Lucius.
"That would be great" Said Scarlet with a smile.
She wasn't hungry but wanted to do it anyway.
He held her close and they walked to a smoothie shop.
"One Vanilla heart please"
She felt warmth sweep over her body and wanted to hug him. They took a seat and she was red as could be.
"You look really cute when you're blushing" Said Lucius.
She wanted to say he was cute to but she was overwhelmed with joy. She wanted to say it.
"Thanks"
The drink arrived and they got two straws. Lucius drank small sips and Scarlet pretended to.
"My mom and dad had this kind of smoothie on their first date" Said Lucius.
"Really?"
"Yeah, by the way I like your hair it looks like my moms. Well one of them"

A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality
TL;DR Synopsis: Man dies from falling banana, gets interrogated but answers vaguely, suffers consequences Actual synopsis: Spirit veins. Many consider them to be the pillar on which the world of cultivation is built. These things served as the foundation for the first few realms that would allow humanity to achieve its everlasting dream of immortality. However, in the present age, these pockets of condensed energy only exist to be under the foundations of massive organizations, fostering a new generation of fighters while passively radiating the energy they contain. Nevertheless, spirit veins are still an important element in the world of cultivation, albeit much less so. With that in mind, have you ever considered what it would be like for someone to turn into a spirit vein? No? Well, Arthur never thought about it either. Going through the usual reincarnation schtick (if one could consider it usual), Arthur was eventually brought into a place where a god asked him where he would like to be reborn. Unsurprisingly, Arthur told the god his ideal rebirth. However, soon enough, he would come to realize that he should have been more specific with it. Now being reborn as the smallest spirit vein, or if you could even consider him a spirit vein, Arthur wondered what he could do other than wait for time to consume him…and that’s where the system came in. With it, he would experience multiple stories of hardships, adventure, romance, and action…all underground. Unless…? Do keep in mind that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize in advance if there are any grammatical errors, typos, miscalculations and so on. In fact, I'd highly appreciate it if you tell me those mistakes. Also, this story focuses quite a lot on the gradual progression of the MC at the beginning, but in the long run, upgrading sprees would probably be more common. Thanks for reading this small note!
