《Broken》Chapter 11.3 Scarlet

“I know I'm not happy but I thought it would make you all happy if you thought I was” Said Lucius admiring the rising sun.
“Why would you think that?” Asked Scarlet.
She could not understand why he would do this.
“Because the way you looked at me last night. You were afraid of me and I don't want you to. If this helps you feel safe around me I will endure the pain” Said Lucius his broken smile tearing into his face.
She held him and could barely hear the beating of his weak heart. Something so fragile that true joy had brought him close to death many times before.
“It's isn't worth it if it hurts you. If it hurts you stop. Stop and think about yourself. What are you doing to yourself” Said Scarlet beginning to cry.
“Don't worry, I'm already dead inside” Said Lucius.
His smile said more than she ever wanted to know and his eyes were something she dared not look at. He felt her tears and it numbed his body. He could feel her crying. He felt her pain like his own. Scarlet held him close wishing he could just understand how much she care for him. She wished she could take all his pain so he could finally smile a true smile.
He felt it. He knew it was not the pills. It wasn't the seals. It wasn't the artifact. He felt like he care for her. Someone he barely knew and he felt like he wanted to protect her and not because he would disappoint his sister. Scarlet felt his hand touch her face. She looked up and felt his lips against her cheek.
“I'm sorry I hurt you” Said Lucius. She kissed his cheek. He kissed her back. They looked at each other for a moment.

“What are you two doing” Said Athena.
“Kissing” Replied Lucius.
Scarlet felt as if he had given her a death sentence.
“Very funny” Said Athena with her eyes so beautiful that calling them flawless would be disgraceful.
“Come on let's go eat” Said Athena reaching out towards Lucius.
Scarlet stood up and followed. They walked down stairs and the food still sat waiting.
“So what were you two actually doing?” Asked Athena.
“Watching the sunrise” Said Lucius.
“Don't be like dad” Said Athena with a smile.
“What is your dad like?” Asked Scarlet.
“Well we love him and all but he just likes too many people. He would flirt with anyone he thought was cute. But it ended when he met mom” Said Athena.
“He’s a whore” Said Lucius.
They walked down stairs and they ran into Scarlet's mother.
“Good morning” Said Dorie.
“Morning mom” Said Scarlet.
“Wow, who cooked all this” Said Dorie.
“I did” Said Lucius.
“You wouldn't mind marrying Scarlet would you?” Asked Dorie.
“Not at all” Said Lucius.
“What do you think Scarlet, do you think he's cute?” Said her mother.
“Mom!” Yelled Scarlett blushing.
“I'm joking,” Said her mother “she's single”.
Lucius walked to the table and served her mother.
“Wow,” Said Athena with a smile.
“She's a lot like my mom”.
“I'll be right back” Said Scarlet.
Scarlet watched her brother walk over and she got food for him. She ran to the bathroom and washed her hands. She came back. She could hear her mother and brother laughing with Lucius. He was smiling and it still wasn't a real one. If she didn't know better she would have guessed he was trying to say sad. Her mother and brother left for work soon after. It was about seven when Penelope and Evelynn woke up.

“When did your girlfriend get here?” Said Evelynn.
She managed to look absolutely beautiful in a white T-shirt. She looked so similar to Aurora but had an ease about her that seemed almost enticing. They had the same ancient beautiful eyes.
“Aren't you going to give me a hug?” Asked Evelynn.
Her eyes fixed on Lucius. He smiled, it almost seemed complete. Penelope looked at Lucius and lifted her hands towards him. He picked her up. Scarlet could imagine him scooping up their daughter. Bright red wavy hair flowing down from a small head with blue eyes.
“You would be a great dad” Said Scarlet without a second thought.
She was surprised when he walked over and held Penelope between them.
They both cradled Penelope and he said “You would be the perfect mother”.
“Are you two going to kiss yet?” Asked Penelope.
“Hey we have chocolate” Said Athena looking at Penelope.
She got herself free and ate some chocolate with Athena. They all ate breakfast and Scarlet walked with Lucius to his room.
“I'm headed to Morrie's house” Said Lucius.
“Care to join us?” Said Havana.
Scarlet nodded and followed with Penelope. She knew Aurora would get Hex to school. She alway did. A cold breeze rushed through her hair. She shivered and looked at Penelope to make sure she is not cold. She smiled when she saw that Penelope had one of Lucius’s shirts and a jacket. She felt a cold hand on her shoulder and Lucius placed a jacket on her. Scarlet felt warm, not because of the jacket. She felt happy but wondered if he was happy. She hugged Lucius from behind to keep him warm.
They arrived at a library and she saw what Morrie had done to herself. She had curled her dark almost purple hair. Both her and Havana looked at Morrie with envy. When had she gotten so beautiful. Her pale and nearly flawless skin with the exception of small birthmark on her cheek only helped her ever growing beauty. The birthmark only made her look more adorable.
“I made you muffins” Said Morrie handing Lucius a box.
She pushed her bangs out of her face. Her jade green eyes seemed far more vibrant than usual. The sweater Lucius had given her seemed to give her a hidden beauty that could only be felt. Her usual sweatpants were now black shorts that reached halfway down her thighs.
“Thanks” Said Lucius stepping away from Scarlet.
“Anything for you” Morrie then gently clasped her hands together and looking away.

A King in the Clouds
Tanlar. A cruel, repulsive, and foul word. It meant untitled, officially, but it also meant ungifted, unable, unworthy, unnecessary, unhuman. It was more a curse than a term, a badge only the damned and condemned wore. To be a tanlar was to know your life, your entire being, was insignificant. Once Kaizer had resigned himself to such a fate, but those times had passed. He may have been untitled, but he was anything but untalented. He refused to scrape by at the bottom of society. Those who stood above him could sneer all they liked, but he wouldn’t suffer being stepped on for long. He’d be better, much better. But of course he would be. ‘Fate’ demanded it so. [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] What To Expect: The story of a boy becoming a man becoming a king + everything that entails. Largely gamelit, but later arcs could be called litrpg. Also schemes. A lot of schemes. I do love some good ol' fantasy politics and intrigue. Minimum Word Count a Week: TBA after Writathon Release Time(s): Daily for as long as I can/until the end of the Writathon. I also write The Deathseeker [Returning Dec 5th]

You Are The Gods.
You read the title right, YOU are a God within this story. In fact, every single reader of the story is a God. Many stories like to take the path that there are Gods that watch over the characters of the story, helping them or hurting them as the characters progress. What if, the readers of this story are the Gods that are watching the Main Characters? What if the readers could accrue points by reading that they could spend to help the main character, hurt the main character, or to even create new characters, dungeons, and scenarios? That is what I aim to create! I am trying to get the community involved in creating a reality that the readers themselves can directly influence! If you have any interest in this at all, I implore you to read the intro chapter called 'The Tutorial' and join everyone else on many interesting stories on Planet Earth and what it is to become! Volume 1 is where you can find how the system works, and the various things within the system! Volume 2 is the actual story and invasions itself. Volume 3 is where you can find previous polls and the such. Volume 3 is so we can all look back at the decisions made. Quick note. I am not the best writer, and will try my best to create the best quality story. There might be some grammar errors, or I might write in a simpler way compared to other authors because I do not have much time, nor can I write ahead either! If you wish to give me advice on the system as the story goes on, then I will gladly accept it. Lastly, just have fun with the story as I try to do something completely new!
