《State of Flow》Chapter 5

Deciding quickly I throw myself forward to the ground, and thankfully I did because as I did I heard the sound of something passing though the air quickly. Right as I hit the ground I push myself forward while getting into a crouch, turning as I pull out my daggers, the first thing I notice as I come to a stop is giant feathered arm with claws that look like they would shred me retracting. As my eyes follow the arm to the source the feathers shrink before turning into scales, the arm itself is attached to a serpentine body that strongly resembles a cobra that meets my eyes in height, as I stare it starts hissing before retracting its head and, I again realizing what's about to happen, I jump back again. As I do I see its head and arms launch forward and its claws close where my torso was just a moment ago. “Oh you have got to be kidding me.” Based on the speed alone I feel like this is an impossible task, oh well that same speed means I probably wont be able to run. “Lets test the waters a bit shall we?” Brandishing my two daggers I throw one at its hood to test this things durability, it doesn't even manage to pierce the scales just bounces right off. “Fuck me” Okay I think I'm doomed, oh well lets start with baiting, dodging, and then retaliation. As I settle on the plan its getting ready for another strike, it flies forward and swipes I manage to just duck under its left arm my dagger running across its feathered forearm, and I don't even manage to get past the feathers, the feedback feels like I'm slashing at steel. “Alright plan B the feathers are too tough to pierce.” Thinking so I ready for another attack and try the same strat going for the hood this time, however this time the snake seems to realize what's going on and keeps one arm back and when I dodge the first strike and go for the counter it swings its other arm and manages to clip me “Fuck” It launches me backwards with a score of claw marks along my side, since I managed to see it coming albeit late I was able to reduce the hit but damn even with the pain dampening in this game it still hurts. Before I manage to collect myself its already launching itself at me, reacting quickly I throw myself backwards dodging the first claw and before it stopped moving it moved forward more its second arm coming down from above I have to dodge to the side quickly to avoid being crushed. As its arm slams into the ground I manage to aim a slash at its arm where the feathers where much smaller resembling fluff more than anything else, and actually manage to pierce the skin even if only slightly. “If it can bleed” I mumble to myself as both me and the snake retreat slightly. It isn't long before its launching at me once more dodging again it repeats the technique, this time I'm more careful and feint a counter and as I do I notice its tail swinging around from the side and it whips where I would have been if I committed to an attack. “It seems to change up its pattern every time” I guess the way to win this fight will be predicting how it will change up its attack and pre-emptively counter it, as I finish this thought it launches itself at me again dodging the first two swings I manage to hop over the tail as well and plunge my dagger into its bicep finally landing a solid blow I tear my dagger out and throw myself backwards. “Alright I think there's a chance now” As I think this the snake gets ready for another attack, preparing myself for the switch-up and dodge the first strike and as I go to dodge the first strike and then jump to the side in preparation of the second swing its tail swing around and knocks me off my feet I have to roll the side to dodge the second claw that slams down onto the ground next to me I manage to nick the arm as I get up and jump back this time. “He only has a few options and mixes them up after each attack” This time I work under the assumption of a tail attack coming after both arms unlike the last time as it seems to mix it up after it takes a hit. After it swing both arms it whips its tail at my torso and duck under it and since I saw this coming I manage to Get a damn good hit and manage a deep score in the same place I stabbed earlier. “I'm starting to stack up good hits” After this I fall into a rhythm and manage to start scoring hits one after the other. After a few more of these exchanges I find myself getting into the zone taking less near hits and cutting up its arms even more, after one particularly solid stab I am distracted by a sound. *ding* The momentary distraction caused by the level up knocks me out of my reverie and gives the snake an opportunity to counter attack with something new, he launches his head at me and manages to latch onto my arm as I fail to pull it back in time before pulling me off of my feet and smashing me into the ground with its right arm “FUCK” And before I can do anything to stop it I am smashed by the other arm as well and my vision goes dark. You have died Time before respawn 59:59
