《The call of curiosity》Chapter 9: A guest

William was training while listening to the 'voices' like usual. It had now been almost a month since his father entered secluded cultivation, it was theorized that he would be leaving the secluded cultivation either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Of course that was just a educated guess, while there existed prophets in the world, prophecies were not absolute, not that their clan had any one who could predict the future. The guess that Sigmund would breakthroughs soon instead came from Victors and the other elders observations of the heaven, they could feel it prepare to start a divine tribulation.
Even William somewhat believed that his father would come out soon, his belief did not only stem from his trust in his elders words, but also because the 'whispers'. William had over the days listening that some of the 'whispers' would be not only understandable but they would also repeat above average compared to other 'words' that he could understand, they were also much clearer than the unintelligible noises that was a constant thing now that the 'whispers' weren't focused on improving his technique.
Over the days he had started forming a list over what 'whispers' he had heard that seem to hold a meaning and was repeated more than others. These were then differentiated depending on whether the 'whispers' were 'focused' on him or if he just 'overheard' them. On the list of overheard words that had been repeated were: "migration", "change", "intruders", "enemies". On the list of focused word that were repeated were: "Guest", "training", and one other thing that was on this list was a countdown. This countdown was why William thought his father was soon coming out since the countdown had gone down one number everyday that passed, it had only stopped counting down one day but then it had started up again and it was currently on 2.
When William stopped his training these days he had a tendency of keeping the cleared mind that he had while training. This allowed him to hear the 'whispers' for a bit longer, and when he was in this state he tried to communicate with the 'whispers'. His technique had said that he could communicate with nature but so far he had only heard the 'whispers' he hadn't been able to 'say' anything to it, anytime he tried to 'talk' to it his mindset would disappear and the 'whispers' would quickly start to fade away. Today was no different, as when he asked who the guest is the 'whispers' faded away.
"Who is the guest?"
His response only being a quickly growing silence had made him annoyed in the beginning but now it was just business as usual and he didn't mind it. William also now knowing who the guest was could also have been a factor into why he didn't get annoyed when his question wasn't answered. After failing to properly communicate he ended his training to go take a bath.

Blaz was currently running while having his movement technique suited for long distances activated fully. He was moving towards the Aurora clan at a pace that would make him arrive there within the hour, he could already see the mountain that his old friend had decided on building the base on. Technically he wasn't in much of a rush since he hadn't been officially been invited just yet, but unofficially he had gotten a letter from his daughter that his son-in-law was going to be reborn as a celestial, and he would really like to have some time with his daughter and grandchildren before the celebration got going and all manner of people were invited to the clans celebration. He would also like to have some drinks with his old friend and vent some frustration before he had to be overly political with the other forces coming to the celebration.
He hadn't seen the list of who was going to be invited yet but considering how his son-in-law was probably going to turn into a greater celestial if not a divine celestial, the celebration would be full of different sect elders, and he really needed some good alcohol and venting before dealing with those stuckup snobs. They were even worse than the nobles of the capital in his opinion, something that he hadn't believed was possible in his younger years.
He had to slow down when he was approaching the Nama mountain. He would have liked to bypass the city to just rush to the entrance of the Clan grounds immediately but that would flag him as an possible intruder by the various defensive formations of the clan, and while they wouldn't do anything to him until he tried to enter the clan grounds it would still be very rude to ignore the main path, even if he was very close to the family. Besides the factor of being considered an enemy by the formations he still had to act with dignity, he was after all partially here as an envoy and ambassador for the king and that forced him into being as proper as he could be, at least while outsiders could see him.
Blaz deactivated his movement technique by stopping his Qi from moving in the correct meridians and paths. While Blaz was still standing a bit away from the city he moved his Qi into a different set of meridians and patterns while also calling upon the connection deep inside himself. Blaz extended his arm while opening his hand as water generated from it. The water gathered into a medium sized ball before stopping it's growth. The water moved to spread itself into a thin sheet of water standing two and a half meters tall before it started to bubble and blur, the bubbles and blurring effect stopped after a couple seconds. What was standing in front of Blaz now was the same sheet of water but now it reflected light like a mirror.

What was reflected was a man standing a little over two meters. He had very short grey hair covering his head while his beard was short and neatly trimmed, his beard had also turned grey over the years. But what his age hadn't been able to affect just yet was his muscles. His muscles made him look like he spent most his time training them. He wore a official military outfit that was a mix of navy and dark blue, signifying his knight order. He hadn't put any of his medals on it since he wasn't in a ceremony right now. Normally he would just wear some other more comfortable clothes or his armor, but he had heard that there was a lot of activity from the army and some other knight orders in the city right now so he choose to at least wear his outfit for official matters.
It would be good if the other knight orders took note of his appearance here today. It wasn't just because he wanted to see his family that he came this early, it was also politically advantageous. If others saw and spread the information that he was here now, then when the clan announces that Sigmund has become a celestial a week later various connections would be made. The most important would be that the clan was working directly under the king, not that this was something that was untrue but the clan wasn't completely at the beck and call of the king either. The clan was loyal to the king but not blindly so, there was a reason why the clan had decided to place it's base next to a forbidden zone at the edge of the kingdoms territory. The clans loyalty to the current king was something built upon the friendship and prior history of the King and Victor, not exactly a solid foundation to stay loyal for generations to come.
Blaz moved onwards to the city gate closest to him after checking that his appearance was fine. Rushing at full speed at City gates wasn't something Blaz could recommend if you didn't want to be injured or pay a large fine, the only ones able to get away with doing such a thing was people who carries important news or people who could abuse their position to get away with it. Sadly Blaz had too much moral integrity to abuse his position to save a few minutes, so when he reactivated his movements technique he kept it at a low enough power that his speed wouldn't alarm any of the guards.
Blaz quickly managed to enter the city with his official documents. He didn't stay in the city too long, only long enough to visit the clan members in the city who handled invitation to the clans main living area. This would also be long enough that his presence was observed and reported to the people in charge the expansion into the danger zone.
As Blaz left the city he could feel eyes upon himself. They had gathered while he was talking to this clan member handling reporting that a guest was going to visit the clan grounds, something that had been done quickly since he was here on matters directly given to him by the king, it also helped that he was the friend of the core founder of the clan, father to the clans leaders wife and and also the grandfather of Aaric who would inherit the position of clan leader.
He didn't enjoy the eyes that observed him but he did enjoy thinking about the panic that the people would have when it was reported that he entered the clan grounds. The officials here would probably think that he was here to take a piece of the pie that they would get from building a base in a forbidden zone, something they desperately would want to keep to themselves. Not that he had any interest in that. Entering a forbidden zone was always dangerous, but it could be worth it, trying to build a base of operation in one of the zones on the other hand was just the height of idiocy. They were classified as forbidden zones for a reason, and this forbidden zone was a high ranking one. The clan had only managed to fully develop the lands outside the zone after years of hard work and they had more than ten celestials, many of which are greater celestial and one which is a divine celestial and ranked as one of the strongest in that category, and if Blaz knew him then Victor had absolutely gone to the heart of the zone to check for any dangers that might leave the zone and harm the city that was under the clans care, and if he had stopped the clan from pressing on into the deeper parts of the zone than what hope did these idiots have. But these idiots must have gotten excited with all the things happening in the world and thought they could build a base inside the zone itself with a handful of celestial and a few hundred soldiers of different cultivation realms, did they not learn from others mistakes.
Blaz got quite annoyed just thinking about the people planing to build a outpost inside the zone, but thinking about his lovely daughter and grandchildren made the annoyance disappear. Thinking about his friends alcohol collection and personal brews also helped, he knew for a fact that Victor had the first batch of a special wine ready and he was drooling thinking about it. Besides, stupid people had a way of fixing themselves, in one way or another.

A Broken World [Rewrite]
In a world of floating islands of stone in the sky, where rivers flow through the air and defy gravity from one island to another, and ancient ruins can be found containing wonders beyond what can be produced by the lands current inhabitants- a millenia long war rages. In the distant past, beyond recorded history, when the crown of humanity's glory, the city of Uri, had stood whole against the enroaching demon swarms- even as hope seemed lost, a band of heroes, against all odds, managed to steal powerful magical knowledge from the demons. With the demon's forbidden knowledge, in the heart of Uri a new ritual was made. Called, "The Millenial Summoning," the ritual had the power to call a being from another world that would have the power to change the world forever. The first being summoned became known as "The Speaker," and he brought the power of the Gods to the world. With the blessings and power of the new priests, the unstoppable demon hordes were finally halted. A thousand years later, the ritual was used again and "The First Sorceress" was brought to the world. She brought the knowledge of advanced magics, and techniques to find and refine magical talent. With the magic power now added to the battlefield, the stalemate was broken. And for the first time, the demons were pushed back. Another thousand years later, and all of humanites hope for a final victory were dashed. Traitors slew the ritual's participants and took their places, and humanity quaked as The Demon King stepped into the world. His name, his nature, where he came from none of these are known, but what is known is his overwhelming power and his brilliant strategic leadership of the formerly formless hordes. Still, despite their position being even more dire than it has ever been since history has been recorded, humanity held on for another thousand years. Aided, thankfully, by The Demon King not taking the field after the first few years and battles. Now, the ritual is being cast again and a new hero is being summoned. In our world, after nearly three decades of study and hard work, Lucas Jaeger is making his dreams come true. With a double doctorate in both genetics and microbiology, as well as an associates degree in accounting, he has finally, after nearly driving himself mad from stress and sick from overwork, been able to put to together a presentation and ask for a business loan. His long time dream, earned by his own blood and sweat, to start his own commercial genetic company is finally coming to fruition. Lucas's car never left the banks parking lot and Lucas was never seen again in our world. This is a rewrite of "A Broken World." It is basically the same story, just a thousand times better and with decent length chapters!

Manaseared
Adventuring is for losers. Only the absolutely impoverished or the megalomaniacally mad would stoop to graverobbing and dungeon-delving to put food on their tables. As a career it is dangerous, unreliable, illegal, and infinitely unpleasant. Most who choose this life have no other options. They're the seventh sons of seventh sons, the disowned, bastards, impoverished and desperate, and nearly always young. And they are, without fail, losers. Eris is an adventurer. Eris is a loser. Like most of her make she's a teenage runaway with no other options. Unlike her company, she isn't fodder for the meatgrinder. She's beautiful, brilliant, and a talented magician; she's also vain, callous, selfish, and proud. This is her story, as she grows into adulthood, masters her abilities, and learns to care about more than just herself. Manaseared is an episodic fantasy adventure serial. It's also a pastiche of early D&D and RPGs in general, and an attempt to explore at what it might really mean to be a first level adventurer.

Clement
A man finds himself lost and far away from his home and this is his story. I know the description isn't much to go on but I'm going to leave it like that in hopes that people end up curious enough to give the story a read. Fair warning, this is my first time writing a novel and honestly would love some constructive criticism. leave a comment below the chapters if you find anything that should be corrected or if you have any questions. PS: I'm really into RPGs and the story is going to reflect that obsession.
