《Broken Emperor》Chapter 44

The wind roared around Amina. Her cold gaze stared deeply into Mammon's soul, who stood there with his eyes widened.
Slowly cracking sounds resounded as her fingers crushed his wrist.
Mammon didn't let out a sound, staring blankly.
The blossom petals surrounded her again, dancing in the air.
But this time their color slowly turned dark.
The wind soared.
Mammon suddenly disappeared. Appearing a few meters away next to Arne.
His hand was missing. He put his other hand out catching the souls of two of the demon knights.
Sucked to his hand, his other slowly regained its form.
The entire time he looked at Amina, not taking his eyes off of her, watching her expressionlessly.
She slowly took out the sword from her stomach, throwing it away with his bloody hand.
The hole in her body got covered by the dark petals, then disappeared.
She breathed out steamn for the petals to dance wildly again around her, as her dress changed.
She wore a dark warrior gear, yet gave the impression of a light dress.
Her majestic black hair slowly descended on her shoulders.
She opened her cold lizy eyes. Opened her arm in front of her calling for all the black petals.
Diana's knife started vibrating violently. She didn't take a moment to look away, no one did.
It's coming, they all thought.
The ground around them shook terribly as Amina slowly flew in the air.
She held all the dark petals, then crushed them in her hand.
A huge wave of darkness took over the entire palace as a sound of screaming busted their ears.
Diana could feel another scream coming from her knife, as if it wanted to go out.
The darkness took over everyone's eyesight. With the roaring screams even Mammon held his eyes closed tightly unconsciously.
Then it dissappeared. Nothing changed around them as they opened their eyes to look around.
Amina looked at her knife confused. She never took it off it's sheath as it was too hard. But it looked fine on Cayn's hands. When it screamed and shook she instinctively knew the reason why it didn't open up to her. It had the same energy as the swords and knifes of the second shelf that she wasn't meant to touch, at least not yet like Cayn told her.

But why this reaciton now? The answer slowly appeared in front of her as she woke up from her wondering.
Everyone woke up from their trance to the sounds of idling hums.
They all turned to look at Amina.
Their eyes widened, even Mammon's, who started gritting his teeth.
Diana chuckled with her astonished eyes. That's why! She thought.
Amina's white feet slowly touched the ground.
Her black dress gently followed.
With grace, elegance.
She held in her hand, a dark and thin spear.
No, it wasnt a spear. As they raised their eyes, it was a scythe.
They felt their souls being sucked as they stared at the blade.
The humming sounds and screamed intensified.
Amina gripped the shaft to the scythe tightly.
Her hand holding it started bleeding.
Everyone could see, the blood dripping down the shaft.
Adding to their confusion, the blood ran upwards towards the blade part, slowly drawing weird patterns on it's fuller.
It screamed once again. Everyone closed their eyes and their ears. Mammon wasn't an exeption.
Then a loud thud resounded in the entire palace.
Amina, with the blade part above her head, struck down her scythe to the ground.
Mammon opened his eyes to this scene, followed by everyone.
The atmosphere grew silent.
Diana suddenly noticed something. She stood up and walked next to Amina.
Everyone else stood up and followed without a word, raging their auras and waiting.
Diana suddenly spoke in a low voice, "We have your back. You can focus on him."
Mammon never took his eyes off Amina, who started walking towards him as she heard her daughter's words.
He scoffed, as clear signes of sweat appeared from his forehead. "R-really," he laughed, "I am the demon?" He screamed, "I AM THE DEMON WHEN YOU HOLD SUCH A BLOODY WEAPON?"
His demonic energy raged. His sword appeared again on his hand. His wings opened. He disappeared. The palace shook.
Amina stopped him with the tip of her scythe. His eyes widened. She raised her scythe. He was still in motion. She slashed down. Luckily he defended in time. Another one came. Like a dance, they kept coming. He was pushed back little by little. She suddenly disappeared. Appearing in front of him. Just enough for her scythe to wrap around his neck. He held his sword by the side. Noticing finally, his sword that became pitch black. The scythe's black broke it. He screamed. A head flew in the air. It wasn't Mammon's, but a demonic knight. They switched places. Mammon was sweating, taking the soul of another knight next to him he straightened his posture. Amina's scythe roared harder. The blood from her hand was flooding uncomfortably.

Diana immediatly screamed to the others. "KILL ALL THOSE KNIGHTS!" She roared and jumped. Unsheating her swords.
Amina went faster into their lines were stood Mammon. He roared and made another sword with his demonic energy. She held her scythe upside down, slashing upward. His sword rotted with the darkness with that one hit. He was sent flying outside the hall breaking walls. Amina followed.
And only then did Diana hold her swords against a 9th demonic knights. The other's followed suit. They were still at an advantage, now even more with Arne already keeping both Fujiii and Salman busy.
Diana was surprisingly on equal grounds with a 9th rank. No, even more. Her swords and aura were different than usual. Her dancing was terrifying on the battlefield, focusing many enemies at the same time. Pulling their agros. And bringing confusion between their lines as she never would always jump to another knight as soon as the other defended. One who was too focused with Sakura found his head cut off falling to Diana's twin blades. She was too fast to be caught by the others who followed. Scream and rage was the only thing the demonic knights could do, they couldn't trust each other's back anymore. Diana, kept dancing. Breathing strong, sharp breaths. No long than two seconds with an opponent for her to suddenly jump on the other. One. Two. Three. The numbers kept falling. They couldn't focus. They crumbeled.
She was in a trance. She couldn't hear her people's calls. The demons who decided to not follow her anymore focused the others. But as soon as they did her swords fell on their necks. They all fell like they played cat and mouse.
And soon enough the numbers evened. Everyone stood for a moment. While they could still hear the sounds of explosions coming from outside, they looked at each other. And one person no one could ignore, was Diana. Her figure darkened, her eyes were the only ray of light. Terrifying, she stood in front of them. Steam appearing on the side of her mouth. Her cold breathing brought them chills. Her eyes bloodthursty, yet in a trance.
Everyone was silent.
A demonic knight opened his mouth trying to speak. Diana dissapeared from sight. Appearing in front of him. Clashing swords with him. As if moving was a trigger.
The fight suddenly continued.
Suddenly, as Diana and Sakura had their weapons on a demon's neck. Mammon exchanged places once again.
He gave it his all to block Diana leaving Sakura's spear piercing his waist.
He retreated a bit, looking miserable, bloody.
Amina slowly descended in front of him. She looked out of breath, sweating.
Arne went to his side, for Fujiii and Salman to join Amina's.
Everyone looked ragged and tired.
Mammon took the lives of the remaining demons to stand once again.
He was furious, mad.
He kept staring at Amina coldly as a black portal appeared behind his back.
"I shall remember this!" He screamed at them. Then turned to Amina again, "Fucking ant, I will come back with my real body, you will become my possession. And I shall have, all the fun i want with you," He was laughing wildly as he walked towards the gate with Arne.
Turning around he found a figure standing in front of the portal. Even standing so close he couldn't see it's face clearly.
"The fu-"
"Fi-nish-it." The figure spoke slowly, emphasising his word.
Everyone became quiet.
The cold and domineering voice freezed everyone.
A ground breaking sound resounded from behind.
The light of a blade's edge shinned. Mammon and Arne stood there unaware. A ray of darkness, drawing a line on their necks as it descended.
Only then did they see, the man in front of them, with a maniacal grin. His beastial teeth, scoffing at them with a big smile.
Amina with her black hair dancing stood behind them, staring coldly, grinning.
Thud, thud.
Their heads, hit the ground.

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.
