Gan opened his eyes slowly but sat up immediately, he was laying inside some grass. That was when he suddenly heard some growling, he looked over and saw 2 creatures looking at him fiercely.
Gan was stunned, he easily recognized these 2 creatures at first sight. They were both pokemon, being Vulpix and Growlithe!
Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, he didn't make any sudden movements. It would be a joke if he died just as he got to this place. This wasn't a game, these pokemon could set him on fire and kill him easily!
The Vulpix and Growlithe showed little sneers on their faces, indicating that they looked down on him. Afterward, they both ran back into the bushes, disappearing from his sight!
"Dare look down on me!" Gan cursed to himself. He quickly stood up and looked around, the grass wasn't that tall but it was tall enough to hide little pokemon of their stature. He could see the way out, in fact, he could see a little road someways away. Gan counted to 3 and darted towards the road.
There were wild pokemon in these bushes. Just when he made it to the road, he saw a little blue pokemon with tall leaves coming out of its head, it had little stubby legs and feet.
"Oddish!" Dangerous was an understatement with this pokemon, it was a poison and grass type that knew many status affecting moves.
The oddish gave up its pursuit after Gan ran from it.
"Dang! These pokemon are just as crazy as they are in the game!" Gan scoffed, then he called up his status page.

"Okay, there should be a Starting Box or something." Gan said and continued, "Starting Box, come forth!"
[Ding! Would you like to open your Starter Box? Y/N?]
"Open!" Gan didn't hesitate and quickly opened his Starter Box.
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: PokeBall (x5)]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: GreatBall (x3)]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: UltraBall (x1)]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: Potion (x5)]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: Full Heal (x2)]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: Appearance Card!]
[Congratulations Gan, you've received: TM-Water Pulse!]
Gan looked at the starter items and felt satisfaction. However, he wished he was given a pokemon, anything would have been good.
After checking himself, he found that he had his own personal storage, so he didn't need to carry a bag on his back like most trainers.
Gan thought of a new appearance and changed it at will. This card could only be used once and it would obviously disappear afterward. There were only a slight few changes to his appearance. His hair was jet black and he had one red and one blue eye.

His hair was longer with big bangs covering his forehead. He basically took the appearance of Kayn from League of legends.
Author Note: Yes, I'm obsessed with that League of legends character! lol!
"Good, this will do." Gan looked around and followed the path, he was defenseless and a bit afraid of a sudden attack from any pokemon.
At that moment, a man came out of the forest, he had a huge beard and wore all brown. He had a round stomach with a cane in his hand and a hat on his head.
It was a Hiker!
"Oh, hello there young lad. I see you're a traveler, I guess you're heading to town." Once the hiker saw Gan, he asked.
"Yeah, I'm actually lost, so I don't know where town is, can you tell me?" Gan was actually relieved when he saw this man.
"Of course, of course, just up this way is Celedon City, we are currently on route 7, it's just up ahead." The hiker pointed in the direction and said.
"Route 7, this explains the Growlithe and Vulpix." Gan knew he was in Kanto for sure when he heard Celedon and saw both Growlithe and Vulpix in the same area. That place is where they appeared in each of their versions, such as Leaf Green and Fire Red.
"I'm actually heading to Celedon, I can accompany you there if you like." The Hiker could tell that Gan was a rookie, so he offered his help.
"Yes, I would like that a lot." Gan didn't deny his help. And so, they continued on the path.
"It's a good thing that you're okay, there is a biker gang back that way blocking the path. I was forced to take the grassy area to get to this area and avoid them." The hiker recalled those Biker gang members, they drove around on motorcycles and demanded a fee in order to pass by. They all had tall mo-hawk, while some were bald and fat guys with many tattoos.
"It's a good thing I can run, so they couldn't catch me, but they also didn't notice me either." Gan laughed and said. But this was only for show, so he had to worry about gang members now?
Gan had no background in this world, so he could lie if someone asked. With no Pokemon or background, he wanted to join Team Rocket in the meantime, he didn't mind stealing and robbing people for now.
Gan strangely had the thought of robbing the two PokeBalls from the man's waist. If he was a hiker, he must be using rock type pokemon. But this thought was instantly discarded by Gan. The hiker was a huge man and if he managed to send out a Geodude or worse, an Onix, he would be in trouble.

Gan had already begun to contemplate his future in this world. He would work as a Team Rocket member and also earn his badges all the same. This meant he needed a disguise to hide his face or he would be recognized.
Once he made it to Hoenn, he wouldn't need to work for Team Rocket anymore, or he could just quit earlier than that. Team Rocket's influence wasn't in Hoenn and only stretched to Kanto and Johto, which was quite remarkable for a gang of any sort.
They were the only gang that had power in 2 regions!
In no time, they made it to Celedon City, there were no gates blocking the entrance, you could just walk straight in.
"Wow, this place looks amazing!" Gan looked around and was stunned. The first thing he saw was the Pokemon Center. There were several other Buildings with many people walking on the streets. The main attraction was the Casino, it was addicting to most people with the possibility of winning a pokemon at that!
"Oh, yeah, this city is a business-like place. Everyone comes here for their vacation, even spending the night in a hotel would cost a pretty penny." The hiker didn't beat around the bush and told it to him like it was, you had to be rich to be here.
"I can see that, thank you." Gan nodded, he was already liking this city the most.
"Alright, you be safe around here. I've heard that Team Rocket has their hands in some of the businesses around here, but that's only a rumor." The hiker warned before leaving.
Gan grinned, he naturally knew this. He needed a pokemon right away, he wanted to go back into the forest and throw a Pokeball at some random pokemon to try his fortune. However, if he failed; the pokemon would chase him in a rage, he thought.
Gan used his memory and walked through the luxurious City. The place he was heading was to the casino, of course. Gan could see many people walking with their pokemon in the streets, he saw a slowpoke, Poliwhirl, and several other pokemon.
|Name: Poliwhirl
|Type: Water
|Level: 28
|Gender: Male
|Ability: Damp
|Potential: ★
|Nature: Rash
|Moves: DoubleSlap| Hypnosis| Dig| Water Gun| Tackle|
Gan rubbed his eyes and thought he was seeing things. "I can see a pokemon's status, this will make catching Pokemon easier" He was elated that he could see this much, things should go smoothly in his future hunts.
"This is good, this is really good!" Gan was now certain he could accomplish many things in this world. Soon after, he made his way into the casino, it had a nice little pond near it with many pokemon inside swimming, to bad he didn't have a fishing rod.
"Fuck! I lost again! This machine is rigged!" Some donut style hair-cut old man yelled.
"Haha, you lost out on more money again, you really need to go home to your wife or she'll end you for losing so much money." Another old man next to him laughed mockingly, he seemed to be doing well at his machine.
"Ah, screw you!" The old man replied back and continued to play with no regard.
Gan didn't pay any attention to these old men or any of the people here for that matter. Walking through the casino, he saw a poster with a large R on it, to be exact, the bottom of the poster. This was where their base was located, it was here in Celadon City where all the money was.
Team Rocket was making a killing in this City!
Unfortunately, the poster was being guarded. There was a man sitting in a chair next to the poster reading a book and he looked around every now and then.
Gan walked over to the man and appeared before him.
The man looked up, his eye cold and indifferent.
"Can I help you?" The man's said in a chilling voice. Gan was intimidated by his demeanor, but this was to be expected.
"I've come to join Team Rocket," Gan said in a low voice.
The man's demeanor changed and he looked Gan up and down.
"Hmm, wait right here, we'll see if you're qualified." The man touched his ear, there seemed to be an earpiece on it.
After 10 minutes of waiting, the man nodded and said. "Right this way, there is a test to see where you stand. Even if you fail, you can join us but you'll be at the very bottom of the ranks." The man said coldly, then he pulled out a device from his pocket and pushed a button.
Suddenly some stairs appeared, but most people here didn't care because they were either too busy playing their casino games or they thought this was where the special staff members would go.
"Follow me!" The man walked down the stairs and Gan followed.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more.
