《Unknown Past》Volume 2 Chapter 4: A Failure's Second Chance, Part 11: Hunter's Perspective

(A harmone.) I think. (The strongest state an individual can go into. A form that can easily rival an outcross like myself. Pity I can never awaken mine. After all...I know how one achieves this awakening. The method is simple, while also being the most difficult thing possible: learning and accepting who you are.)
I escape the city hall and watch over the skirmish among the yakuza members.
(Following your heart in the greatest way possible, allowing for the rhime in one's body to let the heart beat to a unqiue rhythm. The rhythm of one's harmone song. The reason learning how to awaken it is discouraged is that it clouds the mind of those who know. Most people never awaken their harmone because they either don't know something about themselves, refuse to accept a certain quality, or perhaps believe themselves to be something they're not. But nothing like a near-death experience for people to reflect on their lives.)
I look down at the brawl. Not surprisingly, my minions have the upper hand. Although the opposing side is cured of my poison, they still didn't get the same level of treatment one can get at a hospital.
What is surprising is how they recovered from my poison in the first place. Actually, that Yamiso kid was poisoned too.
(How're they cured? Could...Oren have been responsible?)
I continue to watch the now one-sided battle.
(No matter. Let's end thi...!)
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A large beam of electricity is shot into the mob, hitting many of my lackeys. All those previously fighting stop to look at the source of the shot. Closing in fast, on floating carpets...
Are the Keisetsu members, all with serious expressions on their faces.
Within seconds, they reach the mob and start beating my minions, turning the tide in their favor.

"CHARGE!" the one called "Katsumi" yells.
GA! BATAN! SASA! FFFFUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And with them...
"Plant Drive: Pelican Plant!!!"
Is Togo, whose plants capture many more lackeys.
(Why!?...WHY MUST THEY CONTINUE TO INTERFERE!?!?!?)
I send most of my mist cloud into the fray...
BATAN!
As my solidified feet crash to the ground in the middle of the battlefield.
"You! All of you! Everything I've worked for! Ruined by the likes of you!!! No more games! And no more mercy!!!"
I engulf my body with as much rhime as I can muster...
"HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And transform into my full body hydra form.
"SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
While most of the yakuza members flee from me, the keisetsu members remain unfazed. One member, the fattest of the lot, starts walking towards me.
"Let me handle this." he proclaims.
"You can't fight this snake alone!" the one called "Crystal" shouts.
"Don't underestimate me. THIS is my time to shine."
Katsumi sighs.
"Don't destroy too much, okay?"
The fat one nods, takes out a recording crystal...
PARIN!
And throws it at the ground, shattering it. Rhime dispersed from it, along with its recorded audio.
Linked horizon's "Guren no Yumiya".
As the chorus starts the song, the fat one yells.
"Three months of calories. Nearly three months of rhime! All for this moment! Prepare yourself for my full power!"
Seid ihr das Essen?
Nein, wir sind der Jäger!
"Fire Drive: Magma Armor - Goliath! HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
(Feuerroter Pfeil und Bogen)
A pillar of fire rhime erupts from the man's body and gradually increases in radius. Everyone, friend and foe alike, retreats from the ever expanding flames. Ever expanding. Continuously dispersing.
Until the pillar dissipates...revealing a large golem of magma. One so large even my largest snakes, when raising themselves as high as they can, will just barely match its height. And that easily matches the tallest building's height, surpassing 200 meters!

But it doesn't matter. I still cannot lose. I sent my remaining mist back into the theatre. No matter how strong my opponent, they can't kill what has no weak point.
Fumareta hana no Namae mo shirazu ni
Chi ni ochita tori wa Kaze o machiwabiru
"SSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!"
Bo! Bo! Bo!
I send three snakes directly at the golem, but each one is immediately punched aside with great force by quick boxing jabs. For a golem, its movements are surprisingly agile.
Inotta tokoro de Nani mo kawaranai
Ima o kaeru no wa Tatakau kakugo da
Another snake is sent towards the golem's legs, coiling around it while slithering up the body.
Ggggaaaaaaaaaa....
Enduring the heat, the snake tightens its grip, crushing some of the armor.
"It won't be that easy!" the man's voice echoes from the golem's head. With every word, flames disperse from the part where its mouth would be.
Shikabane fumikoete
Susumu ishi o Warau buta yo
The golem's body begins to glow red, creating more heat.
"SSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!"
Melting the flesh off my snake, leaving nothing but bones.
Kachiku no annei Kyogi no hanei
Shiseru garou no jiyuu wo~
I send five more snakes his way, making some circle around him, while others attack the golem directly.
Torawareta kutsujoku wa Hangeki no koushi da
Jouheki no sono kanata Emono wo hofuru JÄGER
BATAN! BATAN! BATAN! BATAN! GA!
The first snake sent forward is hit with quick jabs, then the second one is socked downwards before getting stepped on. The first circling snake attacks from above, but is hit with an uppercut. My second circling snake closes in from the side, just to be grabbed and melted. The last one, flanking from the opposite side, is also grabbed...
And is spun around at increasing speeds, lifting my body off the ground.
Hotobashiru shoudou ni sono mi o yakinagara
Tasogare ni hi o ugatsu
Guren no yumiya~
The golem lets go, tossing my hydra body high into the air. To prevent a crash landing, I convert my body to mist, then send the cloud towards the golem. I make my cloud surround him, but not too close to the body, risking evaporation.
"SSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!"
As the guitar solo begins, I solidify parts of the cloud into snakes from various points, sending them at the golem at once.
(I refuse to lose!) I think. (Not to anyone! Not anymore!)

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
