《The Celestial Venture》Chapter 12 - Lantern III - Dragon

Moving her gaze between Gum and the scaled figure, Kree was trying to think on a way to dissolve all this. But it seemed whoever it was, they knew well what buttons to push in order to get each person to fight with another.
"Hurm. You're an odd one."
Fixing her gaze on him as he spoke up, Kree spinned on the spot and flung Gum right against a tree, which he got stuck against as the trunk was quickly starting to dissolve.
"Odd for not wanting to fight others?"
"No. Can't read your mind, that's how you're odd. You don't come from a psychically-enhanced species, do ya?"
As Kree understood what it meant, she chose to remain quiet as she dodged another bounce from Gum that was aimed at her, and Gum went right into a bush. Starting to run in the direction of Twy'la and Jarvell, she was hoping to get a better look at what was going on between the two of them. And as she got closer, the sight of Jarvell pushing Twy'la into the ground was seen, while getting hit with shots from Twy'la's Cosmos.
"What are you two doing?" Kree shouted to them, before getting knocking forward by Gum, who got himself stuck to her folded wing "Argh, not now!" She said, and spread her wings wide without warning, causing Gum to be thrown off, and he seemed to stop and just stare at her wings.
Both Twy'la and Jarvell seemed to also look in Kree's direction as she spread her wings and stop fighting.
"Why are you fighting?"
The question seemed to ring in the area for a moment, while the other three still looked at Kree, until she folded her wings. A moment later, Twy'la and Jarvell looked at each other.
"He's my competition."
"She's a danger."
And with that, the two resumed their fight, with Twy'la using the brief break from his grasp to roll away and aim more shots at him, while Jarvell charged forward towards her.
Kree jumped forward, taking the hits from both the Cosmos shots and Jarvell's impact, before rolling on the ground a couple of times as she came to a stop.
"Geez, you're both stronger then you look." Kree said as she slowly stood up. The other Kly'ta's Cosmos shots were nothing. As she wondered if this was another perk of Twy'la's Angel Cosmos, while also feeling a lot of pain where Jarvell's punch had hit her.
Twy'la looked shocked at Kree's action, as her Cosmos started to revert back to its original form. Twy'la could feel her energy then falter, as she acted so instinctively, and used a lot more of her Cosmos then she was used to. She quickly fell the the ground as the adrenaline left her.
Looking at both, Jarvell first approached Twy'la, starting to check her injuries "Calmed down?"
"I can barely move. Counts?" she asked, moving her gaze away from him
Jarvell nodded "Yeah, that counts."
"Then you won. Go on, take the spot on the ship with Kree'aria."
"What?"
"You heard me. You beat me."
"But there is enough space for all three of us."
Gum bounced on the spot.
"And Gum."
Twy'la looked back "But Regur said-"

"So that's his name? Figures it'd sound bad," Kree said, slowly coming to the other two "Mind reader and a warmonger. Probably the type to try and cause conflicts anywhere he goes. So lets not take his word on things that might cause conflict."
Lowering her gaze, Twy'la nodded slightly, before feeling a pat on her shoulder from Jarvell, who smiled at her.
"No real harm done. But your Cosmos pack a lot of punch, you know?"
"I didn't know. I was never trained to use them offensively. I was basically copying what I saw the soldiers do from the side."
Kree raised her eyebrows "Well, as someone who also got shot at by the regular Kly'ta, yours definitely hits harder."
And Twy'la's gaze lowered even more, to the point where half of her face was threatening to vanish behind her collar.
"That was a compliment!" Kree said, sighing and looking at Jarvell "Can you carry her back to the ship? I think we all need to get replacement breathers. Don't know if ours got damaged or not."
Jarvell nodded and proceeded to gently pick Twy'la up, who just glanced at him briefly before looking away.
As the group made their way back to the ship, Kree saw that Regur was still sitting on the ship, clearly disappointed from the outcome.
"Can you get off my ship?"
"Only if you punch someone." Regur said.
Kree approached Regur and punched his face, only to feel pain pulse through her fist and arm from the impact. And Regur didn't move an inch from the impact, instead beginning to laugh.
"You got moxie, I'll give you that," Regur said, before moving away from the ship "And a lotta will power too. People can't normally just ignore my influence."
"Tsk. What the hell are you made of?" Kree asked, glancing at him, before getting help from Jarvell to climb onto the ship and begin making their way inside.
"Aside from skin, flesh and bones? Dragon scales."
Kree froze on the spot upon hearing his answer, while Jarvell quickly turned himself and Twy'la to face him.
"Dragon scales?"
Regur started picking something out of his teeth with his nails "Yeah, dragon scales. Or at least, that's how they were described back when they were bestowed on me." He said, moving to sit down on a tree trunk.
As Gum jumped into the ship, Jarvell and Twy'la both looked at Kree, who gestured for them to go inside, as she sat down and just looked at Regur.
"A warmonger on a radiated planet that doesn't seem to have a sign of life for over three hundred years, and have dragon scales?"
Glancing in her direction, Regur nodded as he looked at a piece of bone he picked from his teeth and flung it away.
"Then why are you on this ruined planet?"
"I was the one who brought it to ruin."
Kree's eyes widened "What?"
"Like how I influenced your friends, I can influence world leaders. And that's exactly what I did here."
"You made this world destroy itself?"
Regur scratched his cheek "Well, I suppose you can say so. Though when I came here, I had no idea they possessed goddamn nuclear weapons. My fault for not doing my research. Though it was definitely interesting watching those explode first hand."

Sitting on the ship's wing, Kree was trying to figure out if she could believe anything this guy was saying. After what he did, she had no reason to believe him, and yet, he seemed geniune. Even a bit remorseful, as he spoke about what happened on the planet.
"Kree'aria, here."
Hearing someone from behind, Kree saw a new breather be handed to her by Twy'la, who still seemed rather weak as she saw down next to her.
"Thanks. Shouldn't you be resting?" Kree asked, before taking a deep breath and then replacing the breather quickly.
"Well, I got worried after you sent us in and didn't follow," Twy'la said, before looking at Regur with suspicion "Why is he still around?"
Regur shrugged "Don't have anywhere else to go. My own ship got blown up three hundred years ago when the bombings started."
As Twy'la opened her mouth to say something, Kree moved her hand in front of her and shook her head.
"With all the materials left, you could've repaired most ships. And probably also generate enough energy to get off the planet," Kree said, leaning forward "So a good question would be why didn't you."
"Great question. And I can say, I broke a rule. So I decided myself to turn this planet into my own prison. No one comes here anyway. At least, not until you lot came here. Why'd you come here anyway? Studying about extinct races?" Regur kicked a skeleton towards them.
"We were following a lead about a legends. Seven Celestial Dragons. There was a rumoured spotting of one on the planet."
Regur smiled "I see. And who, pray tell, was the one who told you about the rumoured spotting?"
"It came from a book. Author was called Trella." Kree answered, her eyes narrowing.
"Trella. Even now, still leaving breadcrumbs for others to find. Always was the one to think we should be more openly known," Regur stretched his arms up before standing up "Anyway, congratulations. You found yourself one of the seven. You can now revel in the knowledge you were right, try and tell others, only to realize no one else will believe you."
Twy'la's expression turned stunned, and she quickly glanced in Kree's direction, only to her surprise, Kree kept her compsure.
"If I wanted to tell others about the seven celestial dragons, I would've told every single person about the legend alone. That's not why I sought you out."
Now Regur seemed curious, as he fixed his gaze on Kree "Then do pray, Wings, why did you seek us out?"
"There is an even older legend from my home. When the seven come together, the galaxy can be changed. Past, Present and Future will be at their mercy, for they can change it all. And if your influence over people is any indicator, then-"
"Then nothing. What you seek won't happen."
Regur's expression turned grim as he turned his back to Kree and Twy'la "It's a fool's errand. Go back to your home."
"Why? Even if you decided to stay here, why can't I try and get the others to come here and-" Kree started to argue, only to see Regur shake his head again.
"It has been several millenia since we last came together, if not longer. And back then, we together decided it would be our last meeting, as we realized we had grown too far distant. Only one of us ever made an effort to keep us together, and she was the one who led you here."
Looking at her feet, Kree seemed to turn despondent.
"What if we went out, sought out the rest of the dragons and brought them here?" Twy'la suddenly said.
Regur and Kree both turned to look at Twy'la, who somehow seemed to have turned more encouraged then before.
"If there is anything my people know how to do, is bring even distant people together. We're basically the experts on ensuring we stay in contact in our system."
Regur seemed a bit conflicted on something, while Kree just seemed surprised from Twy'la's sudden claim.
"Look," Regur said, getting the attention of the other two "I wouldn't get your hopes up. But if you are so goddamn stubborn on trying, then I can give you the last known location of one of my fellow dragons. Basically settled down in an inter-galactic empire on the Persus arm. Capital planet of, erm," Regur scratched his cheek as he took a moment to recall exactly the name.
Kree took the moment to glance at Twy'la, who returned a confident look.
"Think it was the Una Imperium? Or something of the sort. Una, or maybe Uma. Either way, they span across the Persus arm. Might need to look for what the capital planet is, or was," Regur said with a shrug "Last I heard from them, it was around a thousand years ago. So been a while."
"What about their name?" Kree asked.
"Right, you could probably use that. Besa's her name. Probably the oldest among the dragons. She won't have scales like me, but rather a tail. Always looked weird, seeing her species seem tame, then she has a threatening looking tail."
Nodding, Kree stood up and helped Twy'la stand up "Thanks, Regur."
"Eh, you got nothing to thank me for. I'm not exactly in the habit of sending people on wild goose chases. But you both look stubborn enough to maybe pull it off," Regur said, before shrugging "And you always know where I am now anyway."
"We aren't taking off just yet. We need to fix the ship." Kree said, helping Twy'la get back into the ship, before whistling to Jarvell to come out "Don't suppose you'd be willing to help?"
"Best I don't. I'd just cause a mess and try and get between you lot again." Regur said, waving as he started to walk away, heading back to the ruined city.
Watching him depart, Kree took a moment of silence to just take it in. They met one of the seven Celestial Dragons. A scaled warmonger. Once the moment passed, she helped Jarvell bring the materials he dropped earlier, and began work on the ship. They had their next destination, after all.
