《B R I C K》Chapter 12: Exigency Dowser

To me the Day’s vesperate is simply blasé. Yet I still keep watching it. Even more so now that I have the privilege of viewing it alongside Ribbon in the former Town of Coldersack.
No longer blanketed by the accursed fog of the Plains of defeat, I see it in a new light.
In a literal sense. There is a new light accompanied with it.
“Brick, I don’t think that’s a normal light,”
Really? But it’s bright and comes from the Sun. So shouldn’t it be a normal light?
Like watching a bursting Cometic, or dying Star, the light expands rapidly, stealing vision from the ones bound of flesh, but not me.
I watch the whole thing start to finish. The light is bright, but it is not a release of energy, more so that it is poorly manufactured veneer.
“Hmmm, was that a guy?”
Indeed, with Captain having been liberated from his mortal bounds, he watches the spectacle alongside me. And yes, that was likely a Human that just appeared.
“Let’s go investigate, yay?”
Nay, go speak to your offspring Ghost Captain.
“She ain’t mine, I’m tellin’ you!”
Wrong.
I’ll go investigate myself.
“How you gonna move, huh?” Captain searches for more reasons to delay the inevitable, but while I’m not personally against this, well, I feel like he should be, “You need me!”
Wrong, again. Snek! Pick me up.
At my beck, Snek slithers across the rotten, unvarnished floorboards albeit in a slow and a less than gusto manner. Coiling around me, Snek proceeds to leave the rickety shitshack. Surprising considering that that was an upper class abode.
Oh how the ages have passed since the epoch of the Imperium.
I could basically hear the Wattle and Planks crying in brooding lamentation. However, there is nothing to be done. If only you were born Brick my friends. If only.

It is one of the greatest injustices of this realm. How you are left to rot. It saddens even the specs of Dust that exist as mere nothings…
More importantly, Snek, why haven’t we arrived yet?
In response they curl their head to face me, with a puzzled stare, “Snek hassn’t the sslightest notion of wheress to go…”
Ah. Over there. I direct Snek
“Wheress?”
There. I repeat myself.
“Brick friend, Snek doess not sssee your make believe pointing,”
Sigh, it was too much to expect one of non Imperial heritage to understand my profound mentoring.
Ribbon~! Help me out here!
Very happy to oblige with vim and vigour, in lieu of my abject lack of appendages, Ribbon uses her ends to wave to the spot.
Ahhh. Ribbon, how could I exist without you? Aren’t you just too good?
They wrap their ends over their bow in response to my idle dally.
Cute.
Performing much better work than I ever could, Ribbon expertly guides Snek to the spot where I estimated the strange figure to have landed.
It’s naught but a patch of grass. But I can tell. This grass… It’s been exposed to highly dense gamma rays, burning it on a molecular level and searing it’s cells.
This is definitely the spot.
And— There!
I lob myself at the perpetrator, dealing a critical hit with my arrises.
“Wouch! What the? A brick? With a wibbon?”
It speaks in that bubbly diction that I’ve been exposed to as of recent. It’s an intelligent Specimen. Of humanoid likeness, or rather, taking a closer semblance to Demi Humans.
And if I had to guess, it’s not from this realm.
“Woah! What intuition! You’re definitely the Brick I know,”
It speaks as if it were answering my internal queries, but it’s fact that the Specimen is just deranged.

“I learn how to listen to you and you cwall me dewanged?”
Mmm, this thing still creeps me out. Although, I, for the betterment of all Bricks and Ribbons, have gotten over their strange appearance, being in such close proximity has the heart of unease gushing back.
Therefore… I toss myself at it again.
Just for good measure.
Sanguinous liquids flow from their forehead and appendages as he spits on the ground. “What the hell, Brick! Stop hitting me you piece of shit!”
Piece of Shit? That’s wrong. If I were to be a piece of something, it’d be peice of Wall. Understand. Wall.
“Were you always this infuriating to talk with?”
They speak in retrospect. Which is strange in and of itself. That implies that it had to have known me from a previous date, but my infallible memory cannot provide me a sustainable answer as to this Demi Human’s identity.
“Huh? You don’t know me? Strange,”
Strange how the Specimen even finds itself strange.
“Did I go too far back? Have you not met me yet, wan?” They crouch down, clutching their face, “No, we’re in Coldersack, not to mention that Captain isn’t with you currently. Meaning you should’ve met me by now,” They come to an absurd conclusion deduced on the basis of null and void, “I’m Qwrin of the Hartz Wolf clan, holder of the great axe Ascia!” And surprisingly they pull out a familiar looking Broadaxe from… Somewhere…
Moving on. The terms it uses… They’re familiar but I know for certain that it isn’t of Imperial design.
But I feel something… A disturbance in the For—Psychic Plane.
There’s a certain dimension that seems a bit skewed. That of Time to be exact.
Something’s missing. There’s a gap. Like it was vehemently torn and warped. This phenomenon is not one I’m recondite to but it’s not as if I fully comprehend it either.
This thing that stands before me… It's a thing I’ve only encountered once before even in all my time of existence.
Exigency Dowser.

Grey [HIATUS]
I was originally fueled by anger and disdain to write this and looking back, most of what I wrote for this story was unplanned and a bit trashy. I kinda stopped having ideas for this, so I stopped in the end. If you're looking at this right now, you probably shouldn't read this because it's only 12 crappy chapters in and yeah... Sorry to the people who might've liked this. (Maybe one day I'll continue this, but for now, I have other plans) Grey, a prince, is unsure about what to do when he starts running away from an enemy beast tamer. He's unsure on what to do now that his father, the king, is dead. In the forest alone, he'll discover a small companion and a rogue. Together will they figure a way to take back Grey's kingdom? Or will they just die in vain? Let's be honest here, most of you probably like the fox aspect of the story the most. (BTW the cover design is made by me. Terrible, I know) I'm kind of done with writing bs descriptions that I might change in the future, plus I'm not very good with being thoughtful with quotes and stuff like that. I just write what pops into my mind, which is usually stupid things. So the description may or may not be accurate so I've changed it to being very vague.
