《the hackmeister》prologue: the hackmeister attacks

Inside the compound everything was still quiet, Maxwell sat in his office and watched the monitors on his screen. He wasn’t worried despite the nature of this mission, after all the cargo was under heavy protection and he and his men were equipped with advanced gear, after all, they worked for the government's special strike force, not those fools of the FBI or CIA who could not get things like these done without complications.
Maxwell was a commander whose experience in dealing with the government's more secretive missions had earned him renown back in headquarters ranking list and even though he was on age he was considered one of the best agents of their organization. Yet he personally never enjoyed these missions, the more he rose through the ranks the more he had seen and learned things no one would believe even if he told them.
He sighed, he was in too deep to get out of all this, all he could do was go on till he retired and hope they’d leave him alone.
;;;;;
Outside of the hangar, a lone figure stood, he wore a black mantle with a cap and a mask with blue lightning stripes to look through. He looked like some kind of villain in a technopunk computer game, complete with gloves on which glowing circuits ran. The strangest thing about him though was the honeycomb blue panel floating in front of him, a hologram showing camera footage from inside the compound.
“too easy to hack, the person said with disgust, they did not even expect someone to find out about their precious cargo, those bastards!” The circuits on his gloves shone for a moment and the honeycomb panel expanded, showing more security footage, the man looked at it and analyzed what he saw. “Hmm, the cargo is well protected, he did not even sound worried as he said it, at least the commander seems to be cautious about this.
The honeycomb panel vanished and the man looked at his target, a hangar connected to a concrete building, a compound that his something only a select few knew about. But their attempts to conceal this secret had failed them once they got his attention, he would show them just how dangerous it was to not guard their servers better.
Around him blue light manifested into solid honeycomb-shaped plates, the man smiled beneath his mask, time for a raid.
;;;;;;;
Maxwell had been thinking that nothing could go wrong, that this mission would be a piece of cake, but that all changed when he heard an explosion and alarms ringing before abruptly shutting down again. He acted on instinct in took his gun before heading out. “Sergeant status report, he said in his helms commlink.
“Sir, the sergeant's voice came through, we got an intruder, patrol teams of the outer facility are down, we can’t reach them anymore.” Maxwell grasped his gun harder and checked his ammunition, “sergeant we have to secure the cargo, get all squads to pull back immediately to its position, and let two of your men arrange the transport.” “But sir.” “No “but sir”, maxwell roared, if this intruder could get through he must be one of “them”, and if he could easily take out our people we must secure the cargo and run before it’s too late!”

For a second the sergeant was silent, “I will arrange it, sir.” Maxwell picked up the guards stationed in the hall beneath the control room, they were already briefed and like an oiled machine they marched behind him as soon as he left, it gave Maxwell a reassuring feeling to have people like them on his squad and now it gave him hope that whoever had infiltrated could still be stopped.
Suddenly he heard gunfire and explosions, then the commlink in his helmet activated and the voice of his sergeant sounded through it, “he is here, it is one of them, oh god nooo…”
The commlink went silent, Maxwell no longer marched, he ran with the others behind him through the hall straight to the chamber where they had put the cargo. “ready yourselves for combat upon arrival, he yelled through the commlinks. The doors opened and what he saw was something he had never seen before. A lone figure clad in black stood there, in mid-air on a honeycomb-shaped platform seemingly made from blue light, his soldiers had formed a wall in front of the cargo, a container of four meters long and two meters height whilst firing at the strange figure.
But the figure was not hit, every shot was blocked in midair with flashes of blue light which appeared as soon as the bullets got two meters in the range of the man. But that was not all, meanwhile, the black figure made casual moves with his hands and as he did this swords, spears, and bullets made from that same blue light were shot straight at his men! Even though each of the weapons of his men could get easily through a tank's armor and even though their armor was able to stop sniper bullets with ease this one man was knocking them out one by one!
“evacuate the cargo, Maxwell yelled through the comlinks, do it now!” The people protecting the cargo began to follow his instructions, a fireline kept firing at the intruder whilst others began to prepare the container for moving. Suddenly the cloaked figure pulled something out of his pocket and threw it straight at the firing line.
“take cover, maxwell panicked seeing something that could potentially be an explosive being thrown towards the men and the cargo. Yet as soon as the thing hit the ground it did not explode, instead, it began to glow blue, too late did they realize what it was because it emitted a shockwave of energy that blew away all people in the room, the soldiers were simply thrown against the walls, even Maxwell was knocked away by it.
His armor protected him, when he was sent flying he was not knocked out as the other soldiers had been, he stood up and aimed with his rifle at the man who now stood on the ground, the honeycomb shields still floating around him. Maxwell readied his weapon and prepared to release a hail of bullets on this man but then his opponent spoke.

“Commander Maxwell Jameson, agent Z098, nickname: the unyielding commander, it is nice to meet someone of such renown in the flesh.”
Maxwell almost dropped his gun at that point, he was wearing a helmet and even though the number of the organization stood on his armor it was not like anyone could recognize him. “I know it’s you because of the number, the badge, and the fact that you’re in charge of this place.”
Maxwell stared at his opponent, he was not very big, in fact, his voice sounded like that of a young man, not a kid but no true adult yet. But his age did not matter, it did not change the fact that he was afraid of this person, someone who was exactly like those he had seen in the prisons of the organization. If that wasn’t bad enough already this was a powerful one, one who had learned to control his abilities to the point of becoming a living weapon.
“you are one of them, Maxwell mumbled, one of the powered.” The figure laughed, “yep, I was quite terrified when I discovered that about myself but then I searched for answers, guess where I found them?” Maxwell had a bad feeling about this, a very bad feeling, everyone who knew about this secret was or killed or recruited in the organization, the only way this person could have gotten the info was by…. “You hacked the central data vault?”
The intruder, no the powered intruder, laughed again, “did you think that old system could handle a hacker with the right skills, I was hacking the governments all around the world before getting powers, I know everything about your organization.” Maxwell backed away towards the door as his assailant stepped closer, “I also know that you want out, the organization members know it too and they did not like it.”
Maxwell stopped, if this man knew all that there was no way he was getting out of here alive, or at least if they had done what he thought they would do to him if they knew his intentions. “Whoever you are, he began, could you tell me what they have decided to do with me?” “you’re blacklisted Maxwell, the person said with a serious voice, when you retire you’ll be killed instantly.”
;;;;;;;;
The commander was no longer able to fight and mentally broken, he knew that would happen when he told him about his fate if he stayed in the organization. It was kind of ironic considering that in his files he was described as a cold-blooded devoted soldier who had gone soft and now needed to die after his usefulness was over. Maxwell had been recruited out of jail, he had been a marine and an elite soldier but then he deserted and after the trial was brought into the organization's fold.
The man’s track record was impressive, mission after mission successful and if not for his personality and style he could have been a core member of the organization already. And an experienced man like the commander would come in handy in the future.
“hey calm down old-timer, he said while grinning, I am not going to kill you, in fact, none of these people were, okay I knocked them out with nearly lethal shocks but I am no monster.” The commander took off his helmet, the facemask that had hidden his facial features revealed a bearded man in his fifties, “what do you want?”
Under his mask he smiled, “you immediately realized it didn’t you, that I wanted something besides that container?” Maxwell nodded, “you started to sound as if you were offering me a choice so I guessed, and apparently I was correct.” He nodded at the man's comment, “you are indeed correct, I offer you a place in my organization, you’ll get a new identity, equipment, and an alliance with the world's greatest hacker and one of the most dangerous crimelords of the world, that being me.”
;;;;;;;
That night a truck drove to Mondiana city, aboard two people and a container, that night soldiers reported to their superiors about the man who had attacked them and what he had done to them.
They did not know who he was or where he came from, but they knew he was a threat, a threat to the secrets that they had to hide. Little did they know that this was merely the first but not the last time that they had to deal with an attack of the hackmeister!

Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

Forgotten Dungeon
Death comes quickly and without warning. Even for such little personage as him. It's quite hard to start as a dungeon core. Quite harder when divine bureaucracy simply dumps you in the a** end of nowhere because of their incompetence and because of your agent status as a Fallen Angel. Yet Uno (temporary name) is used to working with subpar materials and making the best of circumstances. It doesn't help that his personality was cut down to size, but he tries to overcome the system with ingenuity and a healthy dose of duct tape. Or the local equivalent of such. *** An audiobook of the Forgotten Dungeon story has been made by Agro Squerrils and is available on YouTube, under this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcfzFNUhrNS3Z7DfjN5pMWn-CI1uKg3s2 He has my permission and full support for doing so, so don't be shy and check it out! *** Hello people! It's a story about a dungeon. Or maybe the dungeon? Who knows. Dumped in a hostile world, working hard to overcome circumstances. There is an RPG system in place, but I'll try to make it not number-heavy. I would be more focused on skills - at least from the perspective of the sentient races. Dungeons will have their own little playground. I'll try to make MC not overpowered - it always irks me how the stories tend to go from zero to hero in a few minutes. I hope y'all will enjoy the ride! *** Also, a Discord server has been made recently: https://discord.gg/sK2pam3 Join and share your opinions, if interested! :)
