《The Weaver's Burden (HIATUS)》An update.

I've been kind of putting this off, but I think it's fair to go ahead and get it out there. Over the past month I have been doing a lot of work, both with writing my Inkfort Press Writing Derby entry, and some real world stuff that has taken up a lot of my free time. During all of this, I have tried to work on The Weaver's Burden simultaneously, but my derby entry sort of took priority since it has a time constraint that I have to stick to. I recently found the time to look back at some of my old entries and notes, since I wanted to check back on my old writing and check on the direction before I started again. I can't say I was happy with what I read. Maybe I was being overly critical of myself, but I really was not satisfied with a lot of aspects of my ongoing story. TWB was my first time writing and posting something for others to read, and I frankly had no clue what I was doing. I pantsed the entire thing, and I feel like it was more a series of cool ideas and loose scenes written to justify them than an actual story that I wanted to tell. So I have two ways that I want to move forward: - Start over from scratch. or - Put the story on ice and work on another project. Now, I really don't make this call lightly, since I know I had a fair amount of people who enjoyed the story, but at the present I cannot really find much inspiration for writing TWB. I wish I could show you guys the story I have been working on in the meantime, but the derby is anonymous and so I have to keep my lips shut. But I encourage you to look into the contest if you haven't already, and maybe see if you can guess as to which one I am! Maybe after the contest ends I'll spill the beans, but for right now it has to be kept secret. So does this mean I am done writing? No, no way, not by a long shot. I feel guilty putting TWB on hiatus, but really I would rather do this than keep people waiting or put out half assed work for the sake of continuing. Outside of my derby submission, I also have something else cooking. It's still early in the works, but I will say I intend to either be a spiritual successor to TWB, or a rewrite of the story. Once I start writing out scenes, I will make my decision. I will say again, I am sorry to everyone to the lack of progress and updates, and regardless of what I chose to do with this side project I am working on, I hope you stick around and enjoy it. If you are interested in what I might be doing in the future, I have my discord link in my bio. I'll post updates there.

The Villainess Always Dies (I'm screwed!)
==Currently being rewritten== Thank you commenters for all the advice you've given. I decided to go back and rewrite and add several chunks to the first half of the story before starting the school arc. :) Update: Chapters 1-4 are edited. There will be an additional arc added later.... Not quite sure how that's going to work out with what's already there but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I'll get revenge on my own terms! After experiencing near-death from the plague, Lucina Maelle remembers her previous life as a teenage girl with a heart condition. That girl's favorite video game? Dragon Fantasy XXIV. And who is the wicked villainess from that game, who suffers a horrific death at the hands of the hero? She is! With that knowledge in mind, the solution is simple-- just don't become a villainess. Easier said than done, for even the gods protest her desire for a virtuous life. No matter how Lucina attempts to thwart her future, to ensure justice is achieved, she must go down the path of villainy. Thus, the only solution is to become the ultimate villainess! First, find Valerian, her favorite character who is voiced by her favorite voice actor. He's a part of the hero's party but so long as she meets him first, she knows she can turn him over to her side! Second, become so strong that the hero's party has no chance of defeating her. Third, await the events of the game to begin and spit in the face of gods and fate!Updates Tuesday and Saturday

Upon Blazing Wings
A distant land. A declining empire. A society where the strong rule over the weak. Li Jie, a destitute boy whose only desire is to cure his ailing mother, desires strength over anything else to prevent himself and his mother from being crushed like insects in the face of the cruel men who inhabit his world. After witnessing his friend being struck a fatal blow by a ruthless cultivator for coming to his rescue, a dormant power lying within Li Jie awakens and offers the boy power in exchange for completing its only request: """"Burn the Heavens to the ground upon your blazing wings!"Witness this story of cultivators and magical beasts, of brutality and friendship, of earth-shaking talent and sky-shattering skill. Witness the legend of Li Jie!-----Upon Blazing Wings is a xianxia (Chinese for """"immortal hero"""") story, taking heavy inspiration from I Shall Seal the Heavens by Er Gen as well as other famous xianxia stories. For those well-versed in the genre, the story should seem familiar. However for those who are new, the culture and technical terms may be bit alien at first. I will possibly post a glossary explaining some of the details if necessary, but hopefully you will be able to explore and understand the world with me as I write about it.
