《Colorful World》Chapter 8 - Date of the Trip

As the two made their way back to the estate Lang has repeatedly loosened his outfit the stuck to him. Thinking to himself today, like yesterday as was yesterday fulfilled him and had given him pride. Tightening his grip on Noir's hand he took out his clicker and told her relayed to her that he had needed a much-deserved bath. After chuckling to herself, she agreed and swapped the route they were headed.
Upon arriving at the bathroom, she had turned the faucet and prepared the bath, filling the tub with warm water before adding bath salts and some natural grapefruit oil. After finishing the bath Noir assisted Lang with removing his dirtied clothes and putting them in the hamper, helping him into the tub. Watching him safely climb into the water and settling down she excused herself to fetch a towel and some clean clothes.
A warm bath feels the best! My mind feels like it could drift away... Hold on... The smell coming from the bath... fruity? Flowery? It smells tangy, like an orange... Geez Sis Noir really went all out...
Returning with freshly folded laundered clothing and a towel, she had paced herself to the caddy to lay them down on. arranging the items on the caddy she picked up the loofah and made her way over to Lang, gently tapping his shoulder twice and laying the loofah on his open hand, letting him know that she would be starting helping him clean.
This is great, isn't it! It always feels good when someone washes your back... I should get them something sometime... I feel kinda bad always receiving help like this.
Finishing up the bath and dressing for the rest of the day, he held onto her hand as they steadily made their way to Langs's expectant mother who eagerly waited the thirty minutes for Lang to wrap up the bath time.
"Finally come back to see this old lady hm?"
"Mom... Sorry... Did... Wait... Long?"
"Hmm, I'll forgive you this time young mister... And say a retort when I call myself old, Lang! You should compliment a Lady."
"Okay... Look... Good... Mom..."
"... I ... I ... Alright, you got me, Lang, I can't say anything back to that now."
Exchanging pleasantries with one another, they had enjoyed the little time they had with Lang's new busier schedule. Valerie missed her son who used to ask for affection when she did the usual monthly expenses and tended to her business. Noir, who had been off to the side, faithfully prepared the table and set the food, introducing today's lunch menu to the family.
"Today, we have prepared a simply salted and broiled snapper, the cavity was stuffed with fruit. the topping is a candied walnut and mustard crust, while the sauce is light and mellow, a puree of peas and eggplant. On the side, we have a small salad of radish and arugula, the taste paired with the vinaigrette will clear the taste buds of the sweetness of the fish. The side dishes we have are simply some milk bread, silky and smooth pairing to the tomatoes bisque."

Huh? Wait wait wait! Noir slow down! My translator is only picking up some of the words!
"... Mom... What... Say?..."
"I think she means the food will taste great, sweetheart."
Sighing to herself for an amazing job done, Noir tutted her horn gleefully before standing to the side once more, ready to assist the two should they require anything. As Valerie watched Noir, she could only helplessly smile and reminisce about the past for a moment, nodding to herself silently and pocketing the idea to hand her a present.
"Lang, I just remembered."
"Mom...?"
"We're taking a trip in a few days, I'm thinking just a simple outing to the place you wanted to go a couple of days ago."
!!! That's right! The colors! I forgot about them when I was doing the training!
"Thank... Mom."
With a wide grin sitting on his face Lang turned to the area of the explosion from nights ago, his excitement ingrained itself into his being as now, there was a set date to explore what exactly he saw. Swallowing his saliva Lang had also made up his mind, fumbling as he reached out beside him seeking her hand to attract her attention, as she noticed his clumsiness she hooked her finger onto his, upon noticing Lang asked his mom to visit his room before bed with his clicker.
With a nod, Valerie agreed, thinking to herself that it would just be some simple questions about the trip and returning to the food savoring all the flavors while Valerie joking with Noir. As the food gradually finished Lang shook his head, clicking to Noir that he did not need any assistance other than requesting her to grab his stick. As he waited for her to come back, he submerged himself in his thoughts and began in an attempt to differentiate the smells around him.
*****
Let's see, when I tried in the room, It smelled like wood and more wood, I guess... i'll try to start out with something I can recognize first, my mom,, let's try mom ...Hmm she smells sweet.. super comforting... ?... Wait... The smell is weakening... She's left the chair, my left? No, the smell isn't stronger there... Behind me or to my right then... Wait... Flowers to my Right?!
*****
Startled by Lang abruptly turning his head to her, she jumped back slightly, her mouth a bit agape as she stared at Lang. The intent she felt from him was as if she was staring at her as if he noticed she had just arrived next to him. During the walk back to the house, she could only give Lang encouragement, she could not fathom within the two hours she would suddenly develop sight or a similar sense. As her eyes wandered on him from head to toe a soft pondering frown crept onto her brow. As she noted the moment she took a step back towards Lang, tapping his shoulder as her other hand grabbed his and placed his walker into his palm.
Thanking her she stood up and traced his steps back out towards the hallway, deep in thought about all the training that filled his plate he decided to use all the opportunity, as quickly as possible, as precise to human limitations, he would train. Healed up with the relaxation from the exhaustion from earlier he took his shoes off and held them in his hand and focused, only stopping at points in the hallway as he passed a maid and butler, or a guard on duty.

The wood is much easier than the earth... it echos, I can feel the vibrations of everyone's step... I... Think... Yeah... I'm sure. If I hold out my hand right... now, I got them...
Three people so far... The two had multiple rumbles as they stepped, the last was heavier... fit, mostly a man.... Man? Smell, remember Lang! what was the smell... ahhhh... I guess I can walk slower, okay focus on both...
on both...
Ah, lots of vibrations another pair it seems... mixed smells... I can't tell... another pair? ... mixed..! but sweet? Ladies?.... Wait does that mean that other slightly more pungent smell would be a man? Ah, heavy footsteps, let me check.
*****
A security guard passing by Lang had almost choked on his spit Lang raised his hand out and grabbed his arm just as he was passing by, following the fright his feelings were only more complicated as Lang took a big whiff of his sleeve before letting him go and strolling away slowly. Watching as he left the guard's mouth could only hang open silently.
"He's.... blind isn't he?.. no no no, why did he take such a big sniff at me! I'm getting chills! Young Master, don't go crazy on me! No wait he's doing it again! Arrrghhh! .... Ignore it, let's just ignore Hans... Yeah.."
*****
... I was right... The smell of the two guys is heavier, and the slightly pungent smell can't be masked with cologne or shampoo... Then... the sweet smell has to be a woman... Hahaha!
Just you guys wait for tomorrow, I'll show you tricks you'll never even knew existed! ...
Hold on... Aren't I amazing? I'm pretty amazing for picking up smells and vibrations like this... BAHAHAHA!
*****
As he arrived at his door, he pushed it open as before, his door was unlike the others in the house, where knobs were used with those, his only needed to be pushed open so he never would have trouble feeling a bit independent after he learned the mapping of the house. Walking in and pacing to the bed he flopped down onto it resting his mind slowly.
The guards who were grabbed earlier had quickly spoken about the odd behavior from Lang to the others, only slightly mentioning it. No, their implications had sparked immense chaos to flood through the staffing, the words spread quickly like a fire, soon reaching the ears of Valerie.
Shocked by the rumors she held and order down to immediately cease the mentioning, Valerie disliked this rumor, more so than any other because it would allow her an inkling of hope for him that she didn't want to be shattered, the memory of when she had discovered that Lang was struck with all the ailments Valerie tried researching all the possible alternative solutions, but the surgeries would only give him slight knowledge on what he was missing, they could never replicate it fully.
However, that did not stop the bit of hope to blossom in her chest, continuing the paperwork for today she buried the thought the best she could until the night where she would see Lang and question him about it.
The rest of the day passed quickly, Noir had checked up on Lang every hour until bedtime to see if he needed assistance with anything, and with each checkup, she grew more and more nervous. As she peeked her head in, each time she would see him standing in the middle of the room, turning his head to objects in the room before facing the door and pausing for a moment, as if acknowledging that someone was there.
Lang... You're scaring me a little, what's going on with you?
Leaving the doorway and letting the door close, she turned to leave, and upon doing so she noticed Valerie walking in her direction, quickly she jogged to Valerie and told her about Lang's strange behavior, with a contemplating frown she nodded assuring Noir that she would find out a bit more for everyone. Gratefully bidding her a goodnight Noir had left, and Valerie taking note of Noir's words slowly peaked through the doorway to see Lang, what she saw startled her, as his head was turned towards the doorway.
Lang?!
Anxiously swallowing her saliva she, as silently as possible, stepped towards Lang, inching to his side, and to her shock, his head slowly turned as she walked.
Ah... Mom's scent is coming closer, it's probably night then... clicker.. clicker.. which pocket...
"Mom...."
"Lang! You're scaring everyone! What's going on?!"
"Training... Feet... Nose... Sorry"
"Training? What.... What do you mean?"
"Feel.... steps... smell... scents..."
Ah... He can't see... but...
"I can understand you can recognize your mother's scent, but, you can feel us with your feet? "
"Yes... Almost... Where..."
"Then how about... Where am I now Lang"
"Almost...There..."
This!
"Amazing... Is, Is this what you have been up to?"
Nodding at his mother he walked forwards towards her, as he kept track of how many steps she took, he had made sure to stop a step short of her general area. Her shock couldn't be contained any longer, this bit of news rocked her core and her emotions. Unable to contain them any longer she bit her lip as tears welled. The son who, before, could only let himself be helped had given her the most precious surprise of her life. However, that surprise couldn't just be stopped as the next bit of news stopped her heart momentarily.
"Mom... Colors... See."

Divine Creatures
Kestra, a [Combat Alchemist] and [Woods Wraith Hunter], is excited to finally receive her third class. But when she attempts to do so, she instead receives a tribulation from the God of Trials, loses her classes, and is informed by the voice of the world that she's been selected to transmigrate with only three days to go. She tries her damnedest to prepare, but even the Elements are different in this new realm. A relatively staid adjustment period is completely abandoned though as she finds that, most distressingly, hundreds of transmigrators have appeared recently with dozens enslaved by the local city lord. Fine! She may have lost her classes and the magic is funky, but she'll be damned if she doesn't have a few true-blue skills up her sleeves. [synopsis re-write by luda305] A light hearted romp where the protag transmigrator *isn't* from Earth. The main story takes place on more of a western xianxia world. Note: profanity tag is because of side characters, and sexual context tag is for some risqué elements before fade-to-black scene. Book 1 is written and scheduled for release a chapter a day till 9/26 (24 chapters total) Book 2 will be added after it is all written. Updated to add fanfic tag because when I picked up the latest Ten Realms I realized that series has had a lot more influence on the setting than I consciously realized. Don't expect military or industrial revolution in xianxia, though.
