"How could you just leave me alone in the store?" Yumi's eyes were swollen as she glared at him. "Do you know what happened?" She did not wait for him to say anything as she walked inside Kai's room while telling him about the things that Young Master Chen did. Apparently, the man's name was Harolt Chen and just as Kai expected he was a member of the Chen Family one of the founding family of this city.

"So that lecherous man just smirked at me and told me that he would give me everything if I would sleep with him." Tears started streaming down Yumi's face. She sat on the edge of Kai's bed and used her hands to cover her face. "So… So… he asked his men to hold me. And—"

Kai on the other hand found all this very interesting. He had long heard about people who helped the Royal Family in running the kingdom. Some said that there are four of them. One was located in each corner of the city.

They also have their own seals and is owns a big portion of lands outside of the city. Moreover, these people were also corrupt, and was the law that governs the kingdom doesn't work on them. Some hunters said that these people were very influential and the only thing that was preventing them from usurping the throne from the Royal Family was their ancestor's vows.

"Hey! Kai! Are you listening to me?"

"Eh? I am listening so… who saved you?" he asked.

"I already told you. It's another student here, the name's Luc Seymour. He should be one of the School Guards. His family is more known than the Chen's so that Harolt Chen immediately listened to him!"

"Seymour?"

"Yes, I know… you probably don't know him, but he is famous with the womenfolk in the City. He can summon daggers—hundreds of silver daggers. He is already in his third year in the Academy. To be honest, most women who can summon weapons enrolled in the academy because of him. He is not only smart, he is…" once again, Yumi started spouting facts about the man. Her accusatory tone almost made him laugh out loud. Of course, he would leave. Does the woman think that he would come to save her after knowing her less than a day? "I have to buy something." He lied. After leaving the shop, Kai went back to the academy. He needed his sleep.

"Buy what?"

"Food," he answered almost immediately. "Food is important for the body."

"…" For a few seconds, Yumi's eyes widened. She must have found it hard to believe that he would abandon her for food. "So you — "Yumi stood. "You know what? I am done talking to you!" she hissed before she strode out of his room, not forgetting to slam the door behind her. Kai only shook his head in response. Women are complicated creatures. Staying away from them was his best option if he wanted to attain his goals as fast as possible.

Sighing, his mind took him to Young Master Chen of the Chen family and the Young Master of Seymour family. "Interesting," he murmured. Ten thousand years ago, he knew someone from the Seymour Clan. A weapon master who can use powerful swords.

However, the man died as he could not control the cursed weapon he summoned. Rumor has it that the demon ate the man's soul. Some said he had become a demon himself. These are some consequences of summoning a dark entity from other planes. At that time, humans like Kai were experimenting with the different entities that one could summon.

The summoning wasn't as organized as now, and someone powerful enough could summon various entities as long as they are compatible with their cores. Some of these entities were quite strong and powerful. Once a summoner failed to defeat the entity in their own psyche, the entity would try to devour their soul. In the end, many summoners would die from the backlash and the unlucky ones would become demons.

Kai closed his eyes and stabilized his breathing. Summoning an entity requires tapping into one's psyche — a small part of the brain that is located near the brain stem. One needed to tap into them until you could see the color of your core inside your consciousness.

After seeing one's core, you need to think about opening it like a door. According to the legends, the cores were actually some small fragments from the bodies of gods that once ruled the worlds. These fragments could open dimensions, acting like a portal, and thus the summoning of entities began.

To a learned Summoner, the process would not even take a second. However, to the beginners, it could take a few hours or even days before they could successfully tap their psyche and into the universe where other dimensions exist.

However, Kai was nothing like those beginners or experienced Summoner. His case was—a little different. He could only blame this on the fact that his luck had run out in his previous life and that his soul should not be in this Era. He thought of the payment that he needed to summon mushrooms.

Summoning his entity requires money—coins, gold, silver, copper, diamonds, and everything that could satisfy it.

This was the very reason why Kai was always broke. The very reason why he needed to schedule the time and day where he would be able to eat his meat. The very reason why he had been working his ass off in Hunter's guild.

Why was the world so unfair?

Kai opened his eyes. Thinking about his current circumstances was only making him more and more depressed. He needed to find a way to solve this predicament as soon as possible, and coming to this kingdom to study was the only way he could think of to learn more about this new Era and its new dimensions. After he stabilized his breathing, he thought of his other core.

This body was born with two cores, something that even his grandmother never heard of before. After tapping into the world of the elements, Kai's consciousness turned completely black. He could feel different emotions swirling inside him. There was the anger of the fire, the calmness of the water, the ferocity of the air, and the steely hardness of the lands.

The familiar sensation made him smile. In his previous life, he could remember himself being born with a dual-core. Beast and Weapons. Because of this, he could summon mighty dragons and curse weapons.

It was a phenomenal ability that he used to defeat those demons.

After realizing how he had once again started to delve into the past, Kai shook his head in dismay.

He stared at the walls in front of him and thought of the voices. Then he smiled. The voices had been telling him to use a mushroom to kill those malicious and jealous people. However, he was poorer than poor.

As if sensing his thoughts, the voices once again appeared like it always does.

Kai's lips thinned as he opened his pouch to find a small pair of silver daggers that his grandmother used to own. This wasn't the first time he received a mission like this. It was weird but he tried not to follow it the first time he heard it. Sadly, this type of command was different from the usual words that he would hear.

Not accepting the mission would give him intense headache to the point of passing out!

When this weird commands happen, right after his grandmother's death, Kai thought he had gone insane. He didn't listen to the command to kill another hunter.

So he ended up having fever until he killed the man. In the past five months, Kai discovered that this mission and commands would only happen if he think about killing someone. It was connected to his consciousness. So, he found a way to control it.

Soon, his lips lifted into a beautiful yet sinister smile. Then he said: "Activate!"
