Chapter 12

Third Person Perspective

In front of The Guild branch, there a large group of people gathered. They are watching the duel of two player. One of the player is no other than Luke. After Luke blast off the knight guy using [ Magic Ball ], he was blown away.

*Psss*

“So, how is it?”

With a carefree voice but with a hint of pressure, Luke ask the knight guy. He thought, with this he should prove that he’s the winner. He win without even much of his health decreased. Everyone who gathered there, become excited after one of the player win. He even win with awesome move. If they known that Luke only level 7 and the knight guy is level 16, they’ll be stupefied.

After a while, the knight guy stands up. His expression is very depressed. Obviously it because the results of the duel.

“May…..I ask you one question?”

The knight guy seems to have a change of attitude and ask Luke with a polite tone.

“Yeah, of course. What is it?”

“What is your level?”

This question surprised Luke. With his appearance, most of player who have some experience will be able to tell. Even though he is wearing a different kind of equipment, that because it is his race. But that should be a common information already. The knight guy should already know it, but why did he ask? And with this many people gathered, it will just be embarrassing situation. To confirm it again, Luke ask him once again.

“Are you sure you want to know?”

The question that Luke gave out surprised the people around. Is he a high level player? Does he deliberately use a beginner set equipment to trick people? Not even one of them thought that he is a low-level player. It doesn't make sense if a low-level player can already beat an experience player.

“Yeah.”

“Level 7.”

Level 7. That answer gave the surrounding a silent atmosphere. It stupefied everyone who gather here, and the knight guy has a shocked expression. He thought Luke might be around level 20 to defeat him. Because he fight him without even using any Class Skill. He only use a Beginner Skill, [ Magic Ball ]. Who doesn't know this skill? It was a Beginner Skill that has been learned by every player. At first he thought Luke was mocking him, because he doesn't fight with him with full strength and only use the weak skill.

Suddenly the silent atmosphere crush by a sudden shout.

“You…...you're lying right!? H-how can a low level player beat me…..”

Agitated, he shouted at Luke loudly. He can't accept the result. Luke doesn't even use any Class Skill, that is one thing. But he doesn't even use any high color rank equipment! While the knight guy has a equipment with him. He can't accept it, or rather, he don't want to accept it.

“Here.”

With just simple word and gesture, he show all the surrounding player and the knight guy his level. After that, the atmosphere become silent again. The level shown by other player can't be fabricated. There still no item or skill for that. And with Luke’s equipment, that lessened the doubt in everyone's heart. With that, the knight guy throw the thought of Luke lying to him, and accept the reality. Suddenly an annoyed voice come out.

“So, are you done? You can't even beat a level 7 and say you can do better than us?”

It's Reina. With her temperament, she would obviously not going to let this chance go. She want to humiliated the knight guy for acting so high and mighty in front of her. It is unfortunate that the knight guy met this girl, Luke thought.

“I…..was the wrong one….”

“Heh, what's this? Becoming obedient suddenly? Do you have to be beaten first to admit your fault? Huh, and a low level player the one who beat you, what a joke.”

Hearing this from Reina, the knight guy can't say anything. It was his mistake for saying things like that. Thought meeting Reina is unfortunate, it is fortunate he met with Luke. Luke hate it if there is too many commotion, so to avoid Reina from talking, he stop her.

“Hey, Reina, that enough already. Come on let's go.”

“Hmph. You better scram right now. Akai-chan, come on.”

Akai, the one who has a face “What just happen” is standing still like a stone, until Reina calls her. When she comes to Reina’s side, she look at Luke with a bewilderment face. One can say she is very shocked.

Please don't look at me like I'm a weird animal, Luke thought when he see her face.

“H-hey wait!”

The knight guy shout at Luke suddenly.

“Hm?”

“What do you want now?”

Both Luke and Reina turn their head and face at him again. The timing was precisely same and almost perfect. Anyone who saw this two, could immediately see their synchronization is very high.

“A-ah…..My name is Grandel! May I know your name?”

Though he stuttered a little bit at the first part. He regain his composure very fast. He’s quite a man if he doesn’t have that arrogant attitude, Luke thought. But unknown to Grandel, Luke is thinking why the hell he should give his name to a stranger.

“Uh….why should I give my name to you?”

“Eh….”

Grandel’s composure is crushed again by Luke’s answer. He never thought he will be rejected. This is his nature, he thought everything will goes in his way.

“You and I are not even friends, a companion? Not even at that level yet. So give me a reason why should i give my name to you?”

The question given by Luke stupefied him. But it held some truth in it. He can't think of any way on how to refuted Luke. Suddenly an idea comes in his mind.

“You’re the first one who win against me in S.O. So please, let me know your name.”

Can't think of any way on how to let Luke give him his name, he lowered himself down. But what he say is no doubt the truth. He really want to know Luke’s name. He want to make him as his goal in S.O.

“Uh…..”

Stupefied by Grandel, Luke can't think anything else. Why the hell are you taking this so serious. You're making things difficult….

“And what if he is the first one who beat you? What obligation does he have to give you his name? If you win then it is an another matter. But you lose right?”

Why did you have to pour salt in his wounds!? Luke's thought. Reina word make Grandel’s bitter. Because Luke pity him, he decide to give him his name.

“That's enough Reina, just let it go. Uh what's your name? Grandel right? Nice to meet you, I'm called Luke.”

“Ah! Yeah, nice to meet you too!”

Unbeknownst to him, he followed Luke's pace and give a polite greeting to him.

“Then, I’ll not disturb you anymore.”

After that, Luke and Co. goes into The Guild back to apply the quest. His motto is to treat everyone politely and equally even if the other side is rude to him. Though if it goes overboard, he will obviously retaliate.

“He truly is noble…..”

One of the side watcher suddenly said it loud enough for the others to hear.

“He sure is…”

Grandel's mumble low enough for only him to hear. His party comes to him after a while.

First Person Perspective ( Luke )

Phew, what an event that is. Even though i want to finish it as fast as possible. Now, I can finally have some peace.

“So what's the detail inside the quest, Reina? Why does Grandel want the quest so much?”

It's weird that he want the quest desperately. Is there anything different about this quest?

“The quest mission is to go at in Evertia and meet the head of the guild there.”

“What, just that? But with that kind of setting, it should be a chain quest right?”

“Yeah, no doubt that it will be a chain quest. Though we don't know if it is a good quest or not, but we should take this quest.”

Absolutely. Chain quest usually gave huge reward at the end. Let's hope for a big jackpot this time.

“Chain quest? What's that?”

And now our party's mascot finally breaking up from silence. Did I gave her too much shock? I hope she doesn't treat me any different from now.

“It's a quest that is chaining.”

Oi. That is too simple. You should give he-

“Oh, I see!”

“Well….I’ll go to the receptionist.”

For your informations, there is “part-time jobs” in S.O. And the huge surprise is, you'll get the real money. Yup, REAL MONEY. And the payment is absolutely same as how you work in real life. An example of it is, in front of me. A female receptionist. Surprisingly, she is a Dragonborn like me. But….

“Hahhh, you want to take this quest?”

“Uh...yes…”

“Can't you go to the other receptionist? Why must it be me?”

*Sigh*

She has quite an attitude…..

Well let me continue the explanation, the part time jobs that you can get in S.O has a lot of variety. You can work as a helper in a farm, as an apprentice in a crafting shop and much more. There also some of them that you can call a “real job”, but of course this requires an interview first. Roughly we can say that you can support your life by living in S.O. There even an academy made for student who want to develop game in Eternia, and they require real experienced teachers. The study level in it start from primary school until University level, and it has a very good reputation coming from the one who have successful. After one year it established, it has a quite amount of student coming from around the world. It is called , it isn't placed at any of the largest faction. Instead it was placed at the , a floating island.

Ah, out of topic again, well let just say it's my dream to enter that academy. But I don't have any chance to enter it, because the requirements is very high. I don't even study much at my high schools years.

Continuing at “real jobs and part time jobs” in S.O, they have a very strict system to avoid players becomes a lazy bum like the one in front of me. I doubt she will get a payment acting like this.

“Huh, looking at your equipment, are you a Dragonborn?”

Oh finally, she initiated a conversation.

“Ah yeah, you too right?”

“Duh of course I am, can't you see my majestic horns here.”

When I heard that, I look at her horn.

“Y-yeah…….it sure is majestic.”
