《Obsessed》A Teddy Holding His Own Heart

Luckily Roy didn’t wake up before the cops came, I felt disgusted to see him go in an ambulance like he deserved to even fucking live after what he tried, what he has probably done to numerous other girls. The party was obviously shut down very quickly and the cops arrived at Roy’s filthy room with me sitting beside Liz holding her hand and crying. I went with her in the ambulance and didn’t let go of her for a second until the paramedics and nurses had to physically hold me back from trying to go with her. I wasn’t allowed through they said. I waited staring at the door she had gone through and when I was allowed to see her I felt the desire to kill Roy even more if possible.
She was pale and small in the bed. Her vibrant auburn hair looking washed out under the fluorescent lights and her eyes were hidden from me by her eyelids. They said it might be a couple hours until she wakes up due to the strength of the drug. I sat in the hard plastic chair by her bed and held her limp hand. It was so tiny compared to mine, whenever we measured she always laughed at how I could roll my fingers over hers because they were that damn small. She had her nails done to match her dress, a sparkling cherry red, she was so excited about that dress. It was new, we bought it when she was bothering me about my lack of a wardrobe.
“I am sorry Liz, I should’ve come to find you, I am so so so sorry Liz. I fucked up. I shouldn’t have left you. I should’ve asked you to stay with me.” I brought her hand to my lips and I could no longer speak as I sobbed.

When her parents came her father was enraged and her mother in tears, she thanked me and when I thought I had no more tears left I just started crying again and she hugged me so tight.
“I am so sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’m sorry” I couldn’t stop mumbling as we hugged, her father was talking to the doctors, I couldn’t hear him over me and Liz’s mum crying together and sniffling.
~
When I called my parents they were furious because I didn’t go home. Angelica and David let me stay at the hospital with them so I could be there when Liz woke up. When I told my parents, I broke down on the phone and they came right away. There was no word of what happened to Roy but I wished him death.
I bought some balloons from the gift shop and a little fluffy teddy bear that was holding a heart. Liz loved plush toys. When she came to she remembered nothing about what happened, she thought she had to have her stomach pumped from alcohol poisoning at first. As I told her what happened fear and confusion filled her eyes. She clutched the bear against herself and her lip quivered. I left soon after, we didn’t speak much apart from re-accounting events and I think it was because she was in shock and processing what happened. I just hoped to god she didn’t hate me for not getting to her sooner.

An entire sea of ink could not adequately describe my feelings towards him. It was almost as if all the stars in the sky were condensed into a single, twinkling one.
