《Chameleon: My True Face》Chapter 11 - Emergency Treatment

Groaning, Wuxing dropped down on one knee, one hand clutching his bloody shirt to emphasize how much pain he was in. Despite what he was showing on the surface, he was calmly observing everyone around him, his brain trying to quickly process how his escape plan was to be smoothly executed.
After getting shot, he first opted to stop the excess blood flowing out of his wounds. From the very beginning, he had already thought of such usage of his newfound power—the first part of his plan was to use his ability to modify his body in a way that it would partially heal his wound, leaving the outer part terrible-looking but having no real damage to his body.
Back when he had just discovered his power, he immediately reflected on its practical applications that would help him escape.
If he could change the length of his fingers and basically transform every part of his face, then it's not impossible for him to also shift around the muscles and organs inside his body, right?
If he could alter his appearance to copy another's after touching them, couldn't he do the same with his own body by reverting it to its previous condition?
Of course, those were just purely conjectures and speculations, and such a procedure, if possible, couldn't be done right in front of the public as they would probably catch that something was fishy if he overdid it. However, Wuxing could at least sneakily lower the blood loss from the gunshot wounds, so he doesn't bleed out.
While Wuxing was busy patching up the gunshot wound on his abdomen, the one that was bleeding from both sides of his body, the other guards had finally reacted towards their green-eyed colleague.
These angered guards quickly kicked away the rifle of the green-eyed guard and captured him. One cried out while holding him in place, "Are you out of your mind?!"
"Don't think we will partially take the blame for you!" One of them immediately cleaned his hands from the incident.
"You are a madman!" Another guard who seemed to be the most senior pulled out his short-wave radio and called out urgently, "Shots were fired! There is a second wounded! Two gunshots on the torso and he looks to be in critical condition! Over!"

Right away, a female voice replied from the other side, "We are on the way! Hold on! Apply the pressure to the wounds! Don't let him bleed out!"
"Yes, we will try our best!" the leader among these guards answered before turning to others, saying, "Hold this idiot down. We have to help that prisoner or we will all be responsible—"
Just as he switched with a fellow guard in pinning down the green-eyed guard and prepared to help out the injured prisoner, his steps faltered and his words caught in his throat.
Wuxing already tore his shirt off into long strips and wrapped it tightly around his lower abdomen. As the gunshot went through his back, his injury bled profusely with every move, soaking the makeshift bandage with blood at an alarmingly visible rate.
The leader of the guards saw how fast and precise Wuxing's hands was dressing his own wounds as if he was a medic himself. He couldn't help but think of a certain possibility. 'He definitely went through the training… maybe, he really is from Seven Stars?'
"What the hell is going on there?!"
Suddenly, the leader among the guards was roused out from his thoughts by the shouting from his radio. That voice and that tone… he turned serious right away, his forehead dotted with beads of sweat.
"C-Chief Warden! A guard shot a prisoner who didn't want to surrender! We suspect that he acted with the intention to kill as a total of five shots were fired even with a verbal warning from me," he quickly reported the situation. "We apprehended him and he is under our control!"
Hearing the situation, the Chief Warden looked at his friend, the military veteran who led Wuxing around and came to his office not long ago. Even though no name was reported, they both had a bad feeling about this.
"I can bet it is that Li Wuxing that got hurt. Today is his first day in the mines. Besides, anyone else would have surrendered at gunpoint right away, but It's understandable if he didn't," the military veteran frowned.

"Do you think it's Long Qing's doing? That's five shots!" The Chief Warden already knew who was probably the real culprit behind this. Only he would have something to gain if Wuxing dies.
"Quite possible…" The veteran nodded.
The Chief Warden picked up the radio again and asked, "What is the name of the prisoner?"
"We don't know his name yet but he claimed to be a Seven Stars Officer."
The Chief Warden didn't have much of a reaction to this as it was merely his suspicions being confirmed.
"If he dies, you all are going down with him! Help him out before the medics come!" the Chief Warden shouted right after.
Even if those old fogeys from the Seven Stars Special Forces sent Wuxing here on their own, they would still put the blame on him if anything happens. It would stain his good record. He was already close to his retirement, so he didn't want to lose his cushy job until then.
His mind had already relaxed after giving out orders, but before he could put away the radio, the guard reporting followed up with, "Actually… I don't think that it will be necessary, Chief…"
"What does that mean?!" the Chief Warden called out angrily. However, he quickly recollected himself, "Did the medics arrive already?"
"No… but after taking care of one gunshot wound in the belly, the prisoner… he is actually trying to pull out the bullet inside of his shoulder with a finger…" There was nothing but disbelief akin to someone describing a gruesome movie scene in his voice.
"What?!"
Both the Chief Warden and the military veteran stared at each other in awe and doubt. It was after all hard to believe someone sane would actually try to pull out the bullet with his own bare hands. Not only was he not on painkillers, but he would also have to rip his skin apart to access the inside of the wound in search of the lost bullet.
The military veteran had experienced multiple bullets hitting his body when he was in active duty on the field years ago, and he could understand the kind of pain one would have to go through to accomplish such feat. It was a practice that was highly not advised as it is very dangerous. One might bleed out even before he would be able to find the bullet and also there was a high possibility of causing an infection.
In the basic floor, Wuxing could be seen tearing more strips of cloth and working on his wound at the shoulder. It wasn't fatal but it looked serious as blood slowly flowed out, painting his whole chest in red. Fortunately, he would not bleed out much as long as he had it bandaged. However, this was only a temporary solution.
Wuxing hadn't lost much blood yet, but if he couldn't pull out the bullet quickly, he would be in serious trouble. He couldn't pretend indefinitely as he had to leave some evidence for the medics later.
After trying a few methods out, Wuxing could only push the bullet out by changing the position of the tissue and his muscles. However, if he went through with that, no one would believe him that the bullet just magically popped out from his body on its own. He also had to unclog the veins and arteries when he will be examined by the doctors later.
The only option for him right now was to pull out the bullet with his fingers. Fortunately, the bullet did not seem to fragment and could easily be removed due to the bone hindering it.
After slightly widening the wound, he was about to reach inside his wound to pull the bullet out when he was suddenly stopped by a loud female cry.
"What do you think you are doing, idiot?!"
