《Chameleon: My True Face》Chapter 25 - Success?

'Why is he following me!? I only need to stay away from them for the next five days and I will be gone! Why is he searching for me!?' Long Qing cried in his mind as he quickly closed the doors behind him. A moment ago, he saw one of Dongmei's guards following him. He couldn't help but panic and run away from him.
After listening to his father's warnings, Long Qing was so scared that he instantly went to the Chief Warden to give him a resignation letter. The Chief Warden wasn't even surprised and accepted it with a smile. He knew that Long Qing was done for after making Dongmei angry and his only way to survive was to escape the island as soon as possible.
Knock, Knock.
Wuxing knocked on the doors, making Long Qing jump away from them on reflex. He saw the handle move when Wuxing tried to open the doors and sighed in relief, seeing that he didn't forget to lock the door. He really didn't want to deal with any of this, so he didn't respond to the knocks.
"Miss Guan is sending a message. If you don't open the door then I will tell Miss that you said some nasty stuff about her and didn't accept her peace letter," Wuxing called out from behind the door, knowing that there was no way he would stay silent.
Sure enough, it hadn't been more than a few seconds before the doors swung open and a pale Long Qing peeked through the doors.
"Peace letter? Did Miss forgive me?" Long Qing asked suspiciously, hoping it was actually true.
"Peace? I don't know what are you talking about," Wuxing said, smiling evilly before slamming the doors with his shoulders. Long Qing was blasted off instantly, slamming into the wall and creating a small dent. Fortunately, the walls were thick enough to suppress the noise he was about to create, else many guards would be alerted.

Quickly closing the doors behind him, Wuxing glared at Long Qing who already stood up ready for a fight. "Miss Guan ordered me to beat you up. If you resist, she will order the family to kill you. If you survive the beating, she will leave you alone so you can fuck off from her life. Your choice."
"What? You want me to let you beat me up and, in exchange, you will let me go?" Long Qing asked, confused. He wanted to make sure he actually understood this ridiculous proposition.
"I knew you were dumb, but I didn't think you would also be deaf. You resist, you die. You let me beat you up, you live. Did that finally enter into your little brain?" Wuxing explained in simpler terms, mocking him. He was sure that Dongmei's guard would have behaved the same way.
"Yes, yes! I agree! I won't resist! As long as Miss Guan can forgive me, I can do anything," Long Qing shouted in agreement. If there was a way for him to keep his life, he wouldn't hesitate to take it, even if it meant getting beaten up.
"Good choice." Wuxing nodded and rubbed his fingers before swinging with his fist, landing his first hit on Long Qing's left cheek.
Long Qing's body flew across the office room and hit the ground with a bang. His face was already all trashed, having to spit out blood after only one punch. He saw the punch coming and braced himself for the impact, but he never expected a fist to be as hard as a rock. It felt as if he was just hit by a hammer, his brain still throbbing from the hit.
'Not bad,' Wuxing commented as he looked at his fists which were partially covered with a bone structure. It felt like wearing a brass knuckle with more destructive power compared to the original.
He was still not used to fighting in this body, but if Long Qing just let him do as he pleased, then there shouldn't be any problems. Even if Long Qing started resisting, Wuxing was confident he'd win a fight against him.

"That's one. A few more and we will be done." Wuxing approached the bloodied Long Qing and encouraged him a little before adding a kick to the ribs, blasting him to the side.
Wuxing didn't care about the amount of strength he was using and just enjoyed beating Long Qing until he was satisfied. Long Qing was already on the list of people he wanted to kill, so if he died now, Wuxing wouldn't be sad. That would create some problems for Dongmei, but with her connections, normal rules wouldn't apply to her.
After venting out, Wuxing finally stopped. Long Qing turned out to be much tougher than Wuxing originally expected and he survived in the end. Wuxing tried to make it as painful as possible, but also less visible as much as he could. He preferred Long Qing to suffer from internal injuries rather than external ones.
"Miss doesn't want to see you on the island. You will get on the next ship back to the mainland. Do you understand?" Wuxing ordered after the last kick as he waited for Long Qing's confirmation.
Long Qing replied with a slight nod. His mouth was full of blood and he had bruises all over his body, making it impossible to speak.
Seeing the agreement, Wuxing didn't waste any more time and left. It was quite an unexpected change of plans, but Wuxing didn't regret it. He wouldn't touch Long Qing if he didn't come and provoke him, but that was exactly what happened.
The trip to the docks turned out to be quite easy with the new card he acquired as no one asked him where was he going or even why. The docks were located inside a small bay that was artificially created. There wasn't anything special there other than the few warehouses and a small shipping yard with a medium-sized crane. It was used for unloading supplies which were shipped here for the needs of thousands of prisoners.
After talking to the nearest dock worker, he noted the exact time the next shipment would arrive and depart so he could time his plan right. Once that was done, he headed back towards the hospital. Wuxing realized that it was partially a hospital but also a place where all the normal guards had their rooms.
The first few floors were for patients, but the rest—up to the tenth floor where Dongmei's apartment was located—was used as a hotel. Fortunately, as Wuxing was coming back, everyone had gone to eat, so he didn't meet anyone in the lobby other than the secretary.
Entering into the emergency staircase, Wuxing started changing back into himself. There were no cameras there. He knew he couldn't enter back into the apartment in a different body in case Dongmei came earlier. The process was quick just like the previous one, and luckily, the aftereffects weren't that harsh this time.
'I guess after all the food I ate, the energy was enough for two transformations. I suppose I will need to stock up on energy bars,' Wuxing thought as he ran up the stairs, joking to himself.
Dropping down from the roof onto the balcony, Wuxing opened the doors and looked around the room. Everything was just as he left it, which made him breathe a sigh of relief. He almost thought that he would be caught red-handed by Dongmei, but everything worked out in the end.
He approached the bed. Just as he was about to take out his guns and hide them under it, he heard a cough behind him, followed by a lady's voice.
"Where have you been?"

The Casual
Notice: On hiatus. *profanity tag added just in case a bit of swearing is required, but I'll try to keep it as profanity-lite as possible* RealWorldIII came with the motto "Bringing the imagination back into the gaming" with an innovative skill combination system that promises to create unique (see: not-actually-unique) characters tailored to each player's preferences (see: we-swear-it's-not-random) Alex is a random guy with the motto "Well... whatever" with a history of being at the top of the gaming scene (see: he was a kid back then) that after twenty years of working for daily necessities finds himself facing a tough dilemma: do I go back to being a corporate slave, or do I gain money by playing a game no questions asked? (see: not really a dilemma) The only question is, can an actual "casual", even if ex-pro, survive constantly playing a game? or will he end banging his head on the wall? The story will unfold mainly in-game, with little if any real life events happening.

Frameshift
Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). System Prime
The legend of System Prime is one that has been told and retold many times over the eons. About how she, along with her trusted partner, travelled the worlds of Ahunna (a.hoon.a), sharing the [Gift of System] to all who needed it. It is a great story. Somewhat factual too. As long as you overlook the fact that System Prime was never a woman. —— If this story seems familiar to you, then congratulations, you're psychic. Well, that or you've read it before on my old account, Eli8iR, which I had to delete because of a probably silly reason that will need a shitton of weed to make me spill. If you don't recognize this story, then unfortunately you're not psychic. On the bright side though, it has been scientifically proven that reading my stories might make you psychic. Or blind. But that only happened twice, and those guys should not have badmouthed my work. Enjoy.
