《Deity's Fragments [Paused]》Chapter 16 - Pursuit

Jumping into the trees could be seen a small glimmer in this early morning.
*Bzzzz*
*Clang*
Zack was jumping between trees, propelling his body with the power of thunder while sometimes attacking.
It all started in the early morning. Zack was resting on his branch when he heard a lot of buzzing. He opened his eyes and making as little noise as possible; he leaned his body to the edge of the branch and looked down.
He could see a group of bees that were no smaller than he was in size. He had forgotten a fundamental rule, "Blood and corpses attract more beasts."
He picked up his backpack without making much noise and put on his mask. He was waiting, as they might leave, but he preferred to be safe and have everything in case something happened.
As if it was a blessing from heaven, a bee came up from behind as he looked down. He felt a shiver down his back, and when he turned his body back to look, he found the bee buzzing towards him.
This bee had blue and black stripes. The blue color seemed to be the color of distinguishing low-class beasts.
The bee lashed out with its stinger, causing Zack to recoil, flying off the branch.
*Creak*
A noise was heard as the bee attacked, which alerted the others. Zack, as he fell, flipped his body in the air and, landing on a branch, gave a boost and ran.
If it were the crickets, he could develop a plan and attack, but these were faster and more powerful bees than crickets and could fly.
Zack reached into his pocket and pulled out a card. The general market gave him this card. Imbuing his energy into the card, it activated, and he got a compass.
He followed the direction; this would lead him to one of the general market headquarters.
Bees soon overtook zack, so he had to worry about running, dodging, and attacking.
When a bee approached, he attacked, but more and more kept coming. They were slowly cornering him.
He could tell this, so he used more energy to get more momentum. He could get further away from the pursuers, but only the blue-striped bees stayed behind.

Over 20 red-striped bees were chasing Zack, but suddenly three yellow-striped bees positioned themselves in front of the red-striped bees.
"High-level bees, and there are 3 of them" Zack was amazed. If he didn't know if he would win against the bees before, now he was more sure that he couldn't do it. 'Luzbel 20 points to Agility and 20 into Strength’.
[*20 Points assigned to Agility*]
[*20 Points assigned to Strength*]
Zack felt more power coursing through his body, and he could feel how the speed he was going at wasn't even half of what he could achieve.
He smiled and kicking the ground hard; he pushed forward, speeding up even more. He was watching the red-striped bees lag.
But his moment of joy was soon over. On the back of the yellow bees grew two more pairs of wings, and they sped up and attacked.
He had to activate his eye power to full power to see and dodge the attack. Even avoiding the first two, the third injured his side of his abdomen.
'Agh,' Zack gritted his teeth and started running faster, spending more energy on his eyes and lightning to move more quickly.
Zack could feel the energy draining at an astonishing speed. If he kept this up, he wouldn't be able to survive. 'Luzbel 20 points to Resistance, 20 points to mind, 10 to essence.' Although it was some thought, he said it so that it sounded like he was shouting.
He could feel the bee's previous hit was irritating him; it meant he had been poisoned.
[*20 points assigned to Resistance*]
[*20 points assigned to Mind*]
[*10 points assigned to Essence*]
The energy of the environment swirled around Zack's body and melted into him. He could feel as if a small glass was turning into a jar. He was full of energy again and could intuitively sense how to use his power best to regulate energy expenditure and achieve better combat results.

The wound he previously had was closed, but the poison still wouldn't go away. Zack was desperate to get to the shelter; he couldn't die here.
[*I ask the master's permission to do body modification*]
'Body modification?' he asked. But before thinking long and hard, he agreed; he couldn't take his Mind off the chase.
[*Petition approved*]
[*Changing genetic code*]
[*Programming antibody ... Complete*]
[*Intoxication eliminated*]
Zack stopped feeling affected by the poison. He had even felt a little dizzy already, but he was back to normal. Zack wanted to ask about this, but he continued forward and would ask later.
He could hear a noise not far away. "A river," he said excitedly. He could go to the river to get rid of the bees.
[*Jumping into the river could be more lethal than running on land, recommended to keep running*]
Zack hadn't thought of this. There are also unknown beasts in the river, and he would have less of an advantage in the water. He sighed.
He could only use his last option. He didn't know how it would end, but it was better than nothing.
He sent a large amount of energy to his feet, and turning it into the lightning element, kicked the ground with great force.
His body shot through the air at an incredible speed as he soared. Even above the giant trees. 'This was the worst idea I ever had.'
His body was still flying, but soon he stopped speeding up and fell. He had already watched as he exited the forest and fell. As he fell, he concentrated as hard as he could.
Being only a few seconds away from the ground, he activated his elemental body, and his whole being became a thundering body.
His body impacted the sand, and lightning ripped apart and formed new ones as Zack's figure took shape. His energy looked like a faucet spilling water like crazy.
His body formed, and when it did, he deactivated his power and fell backward into the sand. He was in a kind of desert.
Although he had fallen well, he still had wounds on his body and some broken bones. He only stayed that way because he used his power at the last moment to lighten his fall and because of the release of falling in a desert.
He couldn't tell what would happen if he fell on another type of ground. 'Luzbel, status.'
[*Report: 3 broken ribs, a broken leg, and some damaged organs*]
[*Report: -Organ repair protocol starting- Time remaining, 1 hour 23 minutes*]
He had nothing else to do, so he had a conversation with Luzbel to find out how much he knew about his ability.
'How do you know how to do these things?' he asked.
[*I'm connected to the master's source code, the master is a modifiable code, it's only restricted to your imagination*]
He was excited to hear this and said, "I can change my strength and become extremely strong, right?".
To his disappointment, it was not as he thought. [*Even if you change your stats, your Strength will not increase. Think of it as modifying the values in a browser, but only changing them for the view, but not the source*]
[*But it's not impossible, maybe in his next evolutions, he'll be able to do it*]
"By the way, do you know why, when transferring my power to another being, can I see these as data?" he asked. When he got his power, he had seen how the hunter's corpse was structured, but this was only after making contact.
[*Insufficient data, I think the master's power somehow can influence other people's properties*]
With a smile, he said, "then maybe I could start some business, like healing, for example" he was planning how to get money and approach powers to copy his powers.
He didn't know the maximum capacity of powers he could copy. Therefore he hadn't copied other powers; he wants to copy the most powerful ones he can find.

The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
