《Deity's Fragments [Paused]》Chapter 18 - Encounter

"Where do you think you're running to?" he shouted.
Zack was in pursuit of a middle-class snake he had encountered in the desert areas near the shelter.
The battle had been challenging, as the sand gave him little mobility, but he still kept fighting the snake until he left it badly wounded. Seeing that it could not win, the snake began to escape, but Zack would not let it go without chasing it, so it began to run after the snake, getting further away from the shelter.
Angry for making him get so far away from the shelter, tired of the chase, he took the bow that was on his back and, channeling the electric energy, created an electric arrow.
This arrow is a bow skill. If you have an elemental skill, you would only have to channel your energy into the bow, and the arrow would form.
Moving and aiming at the snake, he released the arrow, which spun out but only connected with the ground near the snake.
Zack kept running while adjusting his breathing. Everything slowly began to slow down before his eyes. His eye power was synchronizing with his breathing until Zack saw the moment he needed and attacked.
The arrow shot out of the bow heading for the snake's body. As if by intuition, the snake felt a chill and turned to see what it was, but before it saw what was coming after it, its body shuddered and fell, spurting blood from its head.
Zack walked up to the beast and saw that it had not yet died, so he decided to waste no time and thrust his sword into the hole he had made in the snake with the arrow.
[You have killed a level 1 medium desert snake.]
He collapsed to the ground and breathed heavily; he took a breath for a minute until he decided to keep moving. He didn't want some beast to attack him, so he opened the beast's body and pulled out the crystal.

Since he wasn't that far from the shelter, he decided to drag the snake's body away and sell it. He decided to take it to the blacksmith first and see he was interested in buying the snake to create some weapon or armor.
When he arrived at the shelter, many people were looking at him. He was carrying the body of a middle-class snake on his back. Zack took the body to the blacksmith and managed to sell it for about 500 Star coins.
He already figured it would cost more than a beast crystal because, although the crystal made you stronger, the bodies worked for making weapons and armor.
Also, not all races needed crystals. Many got stronger by eating their skin, others needed to extract the crystal's energy, but it would take time. The only ones that had such a way to become stronger just by eating the crystals were humans.
Zack was walking when a group of people approached him, "Nice to meet you. My name is James; you may have already heard of me in this shelter. I could see you were wearing the body of a middle-class snake, which shows your strength and qualifications to join us. Would you like to join our group?"
Zack almost threw up after hearing this person's narcissism, but his heart almost started pumping blood, and his energy spread out when he could get a good look at who the person talking to him was.
The others could sense his murderous aura for a moment and become on guard.
"What do you want, human?" replied Zack. He wore his mask whenever he was in or out of the shelter, only taking it off when he was resting at the inn.
James looked at him strangely for a moment and then made a sneer and said, "I thought you were one of us humans, but I see you're just a filthy race."

Even though Zack was also human, it made him uncomfortable that this person said such a thing. "Dirty race? You're a human, one of the weaker races in the hunting area."
James unsheathed his sword, but as soon as he drew his sword, the guards of the shelter approached.
"What do you think you guys are doing?" shouted one of the guards.
James re-sheathed his sword and looked at Zack for a moment, then said, "You're lucky for today; I hope I don't see you outside the shelter, or you'll be finished."
Zack stared in the direction they went. The day was still long, so he decided to go out hunting again.
Although he was strong, he couldn't underestimate a group of thinking beings; it wasn't the same as attacking beasts.
He waited a while and headed back out into the wilderness, and continued hunting. As he walked, he wiped the crystal and then swallowed it.
[Level 1 desert snake core half consumed]

With this, he accumulated a total of 13 points, which he would not use yet. I preferred to collect them and put them after an exact amount.
*hmm*
All of Zack's instincts went haywire for a moment.
Zack didn't know what it was, but immediately he felt this, he jumped back as hard as possible. At that instant, in the area where he was previously standing, a giant worm came out of the arena.
If he had stayed a few seconds longer, it would have devoured him. The worm stopped its body, and there could be seen the giant body of a worm three times higher than him.
Zack took his bow and loaded an arrow that shot at the worm.
The arrow hit, but the worm only made a slight noise and lunged towards Zack. It had too high a defense, so the arrow had only caused a small electrical bruise on the beast.
Zack moved to dodge the attack, but his clothes attached to the worm barbs, causing him to be dragged through the sand.
This time luckily, he had buried his backpack and left several marks on the spot to retrieve it. Otherwise, it would break it again with these attacks.
He was determined that he would buy some portable space storage.
Before he continued to take so many hits, Zack grabbed hold of the beast's barb and moved his body to the top of the worm.
It was common sense to know that worms had small eyes on the front, so he moved in search of the eyes.
The worm was still moving when it felt two electric currents extending from its eyes into its interior.
*Giii*
He spiraled his body so hard that Zack was thrown away from the worm and landed on the sand rolling.
The worm, for its part, buried itself back into the ground and didn't appear for the entire time. Zack had stayed to wait for it to return; he had sent two condensed electric shocks through his eyes, so he was able to hurt the worm on the inside.
Rising from the ground, he walked through the desert, following the trail he had left. Arriving at the place he was before, he looked around to get his bearings again, then walked in one direction for a while until he came to a mound of dirt. There was his backpack.
Taking out some supplies, he put it back in its place and started moving again; this time, he was heading to the center of the desert where the main hunting area was located.
