《An NPC Challenges the Dark Lord(LN)》Vol 1. Chapter 2: Routine Life of an NPC

Father and I visit the Five Kingdoms more often now after he retired as a soldier…He still randomly says the same helpless things when we meet foreign dressed men and women.
My favorite place is the World Guild! It's right at the heart of the Kingdom of Humans but non-humans can be top adventurers too.
I want to be in the top team…Team Unconquered.
As the foreign men say, it’s a 'cool' name for the team.
BraveHart The Warrior is my favorite hero. I’m going to train with him one day. He’s very big and his armor makes him look bigger. I don’t care so much for the rest of the team.
It’s odd when I come home to talk about it with Mother and Father, they always tell me they don’t know any of the heroes in Team Unconquered even though Father shook BraveHart’s hand while saying “Welcome to our little dojo!”
But there’s always an end for talking and walking, it’s time for fighting!
Father insisted I start using the family katana on our missions. My duty is to protect Father from forest creatures as Father is only bringing a wooden sword.
A man only using a wooden sword can’t outdo me!
Father gave me a little journal before our journey to write down how many I kill and how many he kills. I’m too excited I will do this writing before bed.
Today is my first mission, I wonder what creatures lurk in the forest…
Father gathered plenty of wood today hoping to sell all of it by going shop to shop around the village.
Suddenly a wolf pack of 10 wolves appeared in front of us, just a few more trees to walk by and we would have been out of the forest.
“Father there’s too many!”

“It’s okay son just concentrate on the fundamental moves.”
I should have studied harder! All I really remember are side steps, blocks and slashing.
Here comes 2 from the left and right. I hop backwards and start my slash beside my head.
Yes! I took out both with one long slash but wolves are fast so I should go for effective cuts.
The remaining eight surrounded me hoping for a successive assault most likely.
One wolf in front of me leaped ready to bite and I was about to thrust the family katana deep through the mouth but it might get stuck so I went for a deep slit by the neck.
One wolf leaped after another and I fended them off well until the alpha male and the alpha female. The two glowed bright white and combined their figures to be a bigger wolf. Their furious roar mourned the dead members of the wolf pack.
I tried the same technique but I could not cut through the flesh…only fur came off.
This is bad, if we run towards the village, the village will be in danger.
I kept dodging and sidestepping but the huge quick paws got a good hit and pushed me against the trees. If there’s only one left…then maybe I can do it.
I bait the wolf into leaping on me by taunting it to come at me. The alpha wolf took the bait ready to bite my head off and I pushed my katana through the mouth with all my might and jumped away right on time. The jaws closed in but the wolf died after trying to get up with the katana still stuck inside. I would’ve lost my arm.
Father helped me pull the family katana away and we sold all our wood. Mother prepared a nice broth and wolf meat didn’t taste that bad.

A few weeks had passed after my first mission and all that’s written in my journal have been wolves so far. I never met another pair of wolves combining into one.
Today I’m going to ask my Father for a duel.
The dojo was tidied up as Father immediately accepted.
My mother watched with disapproval. She said that we were family and we’re not supposed to fight.
Father got two wooden swords ready and our protective equipment.
I took the first move and charged head on with an overhead attack.
Father only used one hand to block. I’m going to get him to use both.
I kept swinging but Father found the right angle to block then suddenly I was disarmed. He swept my feet and I was on the ground.
“Hey! Sweeping isn’t fair!”
“Combat isn’t fair at all.”
Father’s words echoed while I reminisced my first duel against the old man, The Dark Lord.
“Father. What is a Dark Lord?”
Father looked confused again. He does not know then. Mother pulled my ear.
“Stop asking nonsense and start reading your books! You have not graduated until I’m satisfied with your progress.”
I really hate the history books, as it is just lumps of information I don’t need for fighting but maybe…I’ll find out what a Dark Lord is over there.
I did my missions, duels and studies over the past 2 years and filled my journal with more than just wolves…well I filled it with the fact Father is still undefeated and that mother gradually felt more satisfied with my knowledge.
I can’t believe the forest is only full of wolves and no other creature. My history books say there are a variety of creatures in any forest. I'm going to try coming to the forest at night.
I’ll skip today and visit the World Guild. I’d like to hear from BraveHart again or maybe I could watch their team fights to learn something.
We never really had a long talk…I just look at the brave hero and I feel inspired. We never met face to face.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."

Gods of Arkanoth
The hunter has been betrayed, left alone in the streets of a lugubrious district. Only one goal appears in his eyes: to avenge himself. In his quest to avenge himself, he'll encounter an enigmatic scientist who seems to hide his true nature, a savior pretending to be a God, and the terrible truth of those words, bringing him against something he'd never thought he'd have to affront. This is the odyssey of the hunter, in a quest to put a long overdue end to a war between two worlds. // What to expect:The beginning will surely be intriguing, most of what's happeing won't be directly explained, although there will be some hints about their true roles, but do not worry about some subjects never leaving that misty fog that is unanswered questions! The novel is divided in two parts, the first focusing on uncovering the well-hidden secrets the city of Arkanoth hides, be it concerning its making or its inhabitants. As for the second part, it will be an expedition into the unknown, we could, in a way, say the true start of the journey our three heroes will undertake! I won't say anything more about the second part or else I might tell you an important detail without realizing... As for magic, because yes, there is magic! Although you might not see the shadow of a spell in the first chapters, it will appear in later chapters and will be one of the main subjects of volume 2. There are three heroes, yes, but they will not appear directly. While the first two protagonists appear in quite the beginning, the third will take his time, taking some stroll in the Districts of Arkanoth while we focus on the story of the hunter. But that does not lessen his importance in the story a bit, trust me. What about these three heroes, you say? Well, they all have their own issues, from their character to their torments, and as the story progresses they will have to come clean with their past (character development is to be expected) and will find their reason for fighting, braving all odds. I draw my inspiration from mythology, more precisely Aztec mythology. I want to stay true to a certain extent about it and all the relations between the gods and their role, however I will still change some things to my liking, so do not expect for all of the mythology to be respected to the letter. Finally! I have to say English is a foreign langage for me, so I might not choose the best words or straight-up miswrite something, if it bothers your experience, just tell me in the comments and I'll look into it! It is also my first time writing a book, so some parts might seem sloppy, but I hope I will be able to improve throughout this journey so as to give the most enjoyable reading experience to you. // Who might enjoy this story: Firstly, if you like deep lore and stories in which past plays a big role, you will like how everything unravels to show the hidden truths of the world. However if you do not appreciate not instantly understanding what's happening or who - or even what - this person might be, then you might not appreciate the story. There will be disturbing and gore descriptions, so if you're sensitive, don't like reading about someone being beheaded and such, you should probably pass this one. There is strong langage, although I won't abuse it, I won't be lying saying no insults will appear. Finally, the heroes will not always win, they will sometime lose battles, be it important ones or unimportant, and they will, most of the time, not come out unscathed from those. // Time Schedule : once every two sundays at 7:pm Ps : feel free to tell me if something is bad, or feel wrong with the book, it really helps me. I've written till' chapter 4 (in my mother tongue, so I'll still have to translate), however I'll make some minor and major changes, thus it will take some time to post them. Schedule will probably not change after releasing chapter 4, so don't worry, it won't take even longer to post a chapter than it already is. Enjoy the ride :)
