《My Adorable Dryad》Prologue

"Tobias! Don't attack him alone, you're not going to win." a beast girl with wolf ears yelled at the young human knight as he charged forward to fight.
The young man named Tobias ignored her and continued his charge. He is facing the most dangerous individual on this world, Demon KIng Mihael Elarieth. There is no doubt that what he is doing is reckless however this is the only way that he can think of. The fate of the world of Zagarth lies in their, the most talented warriors of the world's, hands.
With a swing of his sword he slashed towards the Demon King, but it was blocked by his claws forcing him to step back. It was followed by an attack by the Demon King, a ball of dark element, the size of a fist, was formed and thrown from his hands. Tobias immediately channelled his mana and formed a layer of light element aura covering his shield and blocked the attack.
Despite the fact that he was ready, he never imagined that the seemingly small ball of dark element would contain that much power causing him to kneel.
I know he is strong, but is this how big of a gap we have?! He thought as he forced himself to stand.

As he was blocking the attack of the Demon King, he heard the whistling of arrows comming from his back. It came from a male angel who held a long bow shining with a red light, indicating the fire element being channelled into the weapon.
"Where are the others?!" Tobias yelled at the angel, who just shook his head.
Don't tell me we are going to all die here?! Where are the saints, why are they not helping?! This Demon King is going to kill us all. There is no time, if we don't do something, the whole forest of the druids and dryads would be destroyed.
He immediately dodged an incoming dark element ball. He then channeled the remaining elemental energy he had into his sword, and then a bright white aura surrounded his sword. Without hesitation he charged again, he stabbed towards the Demon King's side, causing blood to flow.
However, despite the blow, the blood that flowed wriggled its way back into the wound. A dark light shone and the wound slowly closed up. He turned his head towards the young knight and immediately used his long sharp claws that are as hard as diamonds to try and choke the young knight. This caused Tobias to roll to the side and raise his shield to block but because he did not have enough energy to channel the light element, the shield was punctured through. This caused the Demon King to snatch the shield away, throwing it to the side. With a flick of his wrist, countless black arrows are summoned, these were headed towards the male angel who never stopped shooting arrows.

One arrow pierced his eyeball and blood splattered. The only remaining individuals on the battlefield is Tobias and the Demon KIng.
Without saying anything, the Demon KIng grabbed Tobias by the neck. A very dark aura is coming out from him. The light and dark element always opposes each other, negating each other. However, once a user has a stronger grasp of one element other than his counterpart, the damage would be very devastating. This is what is happening as the Demon King's ability is stronger than Tobias. Slowly, the dark aura enveloped the young knight, causing him to squirm and shout in pain. The dark element is corroding him slowly as violet veins started showing from his skin, blood is flowing from his eyes, nose, and ears. The light from his sword is slowly diminishing.
But little does the Demon King know there is a beast girl, holding a dagger, stealthily walking towards him. The dagger she was holding was one of the few holy artifacts that has killed demon kings from generation to generation. It has been imbued with the strongest enchanments from a Light Mage Saint for years and thus it is lethal to the Demon King.
Th beast girl slowly approached the Demon King, she only needs a strike for this catastrophe to end. She channelled her elemental energy into the dagger and the dagger converted it to light element.
As the Demon King is busy enveloping Tobias with dark element energy, the beast girl suddenly jumped and striked the demon king in the neck. The dagger sunk deep like a knife slicing through tofu. There was no obstruction as the light coming from the dagger bypassed the dark energy protecting the Demon King. Then, a bright light shone from it. The Demon King threw Tobias and turned his attention to the beast girl. He used his claws and beheaded her, claiming her life.
Killing her was futile as the dagger already pierced him, The light shone brighter and brighter like the sun, egulfing the Demon King. He knelt to the ground. He tried to overpower the light with his dark element but the collective enchantments of countless saints was proved to be stronger than him.
As the light consumed him, he started bleeding to his death.
Tobias, who was thrown by the Demon King, was almost dead. However, being thrown cancelled the dark aura covering him as such he is still alive. Despite being alive, he is in a very painful state, He feels like countless needles are piercing him and a feeling of extreme hotness and coldness is alternating inside him. The only think keeping him from fainting is the same pain that is torturing him. With all the remaining strength in his body, he crawled away from the battlefield.

As he was crawling, he stumbled upon the corpse of his angel companion, in his belt was a bottle of healing potion. Tobias grabbed it and drank it, although it did not heal him completely, it alleviated some of his pain and allowed him to move faster without experiencing very excruciating pain.
He then proceded to walk away from the scene of the battle. He now has to find the kidnapped queen of the dryads and druids. It was said that this catastrophe happened when the Demon King kidnapped the queen and decided she was to bear his child. The whole world immediately decended to chaos and the pact that the four continents made was enacted to kill the Demon King.
Slowly he searched around, the whole place is destroyed. He decided to look for the queen in the palace. It was located at a huge tree, with branches intertwining to create stairs towards the center. It was a few meters tall, the thick trunk serves as the whole palace.[1]
It seems like the queen is not here. There are soldiers dead along the stairs and it seems like they are escaping away from the palace. He thought as he slowly walked towards the forest east of the palace. As he walk, he saw more dead druids and dryads along the way. He then witness a scene that shocked him.
W-why is the Queen impaled by a spear?!
As he walked towards the queen, he saw a green light and few roots wrapping her as if they are trying to protect her and transfer their life force and preserve her.
"H-human knight, I'm b-begging you, help me." the queen said.
"H-how can I help you, Your Majesty? Let's wait for the saints to arrive. I am sure t-they can d-do something." even he doubted his words.
"The o-only thing k-keeping me alive is the forest, I am begging you p-please save my child." the queen replied. And as she said that, the roots covering her opened, inside it was a young dryad, covered in leaves. Her green hair is blown by the wind, her closed eyes twitched as if disturbed by the sudden gust of wind. However, it did not do anything to wake her up.
"I-I do not have much time left. I know t-this is too much t-to ask, but p-please save my child." the queen asked again as tears slowly fell from her eyes. A pendant was then removed from her neck by the roots and then placed on the floor. Then the roots slowly placed the child beside the pendant. The green light shining from the roots protecting the queen dimmed slowly.
Tobias was conflicted, this request, he understands the consequences. Yet, looking at the child, a frail life that does not know anything, and the queen whose eyes are full of love, he arrived at a decision.
"Do not worry Your Majesty, I will do my best." as he said those words, a smile was formed from the queen's face.
"A-aurae. Her name is Aurae Elarieth." the queen said and as she uttered those words, she finally closed her eyes as the green lights surrounding her flew towards the pendant.
"I will remeber it, Your Majesty." Tobias uttered softly. as he looked at the queen and the spear that impaled her,
Tobias then put the pendant in his storage then he carried the sleeping child. Slowly he walked towards the few slightly damaged homes, all the homes of the druids and dryads are located in trees. He then placed the child inside one home where he found children clothes. Then he waited.
Soon he was found by the reinforcements, they took him and the child away from the battlefield. And as he sat in the carriage and looked at the battlefield, he can't helped but think.
Everything is done and the Demon King is killed, however a lot has been sacrificed.
