《Where Muses Go To Die》#8 -FM- Chapter 1

AN: I was feeling philisophicliololciolocioulisiphical.
...yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
Oh hey, a song!
Shaking
Is.
Shaking
Is...
Shaking
What 'is' 'is?'
Is 'is' a word?
Shaking
Yes, it is. It is also a question. It is also a statement. But what truly 'is', 'is?'
Shaking
It is dark. Is it?
Shaking
I can not 'see.' Does that make it dark? Or perhaps I am 'blind.'
Then, what is 'darkness' if I am not able to 'see' it? What is 'sight?' Why would 'seeing' allow me to know what 'darkness' is?
'Darkness.'
Shaking
A description comes to mind.
"'Darkness' is the absence or non-presence of light."
Then, if 'dark' is when there is no 'light' then what is light?
Shaking
I can think of no answer suitable enough for the question. I'd like to think it is because there is no answer, but that is most likely the product of a personal bias. The truth of the matter is I can not begin to 'imagine' what 'light' even is.
This lack of 'knowledge' is...frustrating. However, what is more frustrating is my lack of 'knowing' how much I do not 'know.'
Shaking
Yes...I 'know'...what?
What is 'knowledge'?
Is it something you hold? Is it something you use? Is it something you can stand on?
I feel that the question can be answered with both 'yes' and 'no.'
That is...
Shaking
Strange? Peculiar? Confusing? The thought that a question has more than one answer is...
Shaking
Terrible.
And beautiful.
All at once.
Shaking
And so, I return to the question.
What do, 'I,' know?
But I've thought of another question. And this one seems so much more troubling than all previous.
'What,' or, 'who,' am, 'I?'

Shaking
I...
...'if' there is an 'I,' then there must be a, 'they,' as well. Right?
If so, where are, 'they?'
Shaking
Here in this...'darkness.'
...But, what if there was never any 'light?' Would that not mean there is no 'dark?'
If there is no, 'they,' does that mean there is no, 'I,' either?
Shaking
If 'I,' is all there is, then would, 'they,' be part of, 'I,' as well?
If so, would that not make, 'I,' 'all?'
Shaking
And if, 'I,' am, 'all,' does that mean there is no 'I?'
And if there is no 'I,' do I not exist?
Shaking
But if 'I' do not exist, what am I?
I...
Shaking
I...
Shaking
...
Shaking
...even if 'I' is all that there is, I refuse to deny my own continuance.
Whether this is truth or falsity, I will renounce my own nonexistence with every fiber of my being, until the day that there is nothing left of me. Though logic and evidence may reject what 'I' think. Even if nothing gives verification to my argument. Especially if what I fear is the truth...
Even if I am wrong. Especially if I am wrong.
Any other answer leads to despair.
Shaking
Yet...there is hope.
Shaking
Another 'quote' comes to mind.
Shaking
"'I' think, therefore, 'I' am."
Such a simple phrase.
Yet the thought it is true fills me with joy.
Shaking
I have thought.
I have pondered and wondered and sought and searched, looking for proof of my existence.
Shaking
...Is not the fact I search proof enough already?
At least, that is my interpretation.
But it is because it is mine that I treasure it so.
Shaking
'I' exist. Even if 'I' never find, 'them,' this fact will remain.

'I' am me.
Myself is me.
I am myself.
Shaking
I am not like 'darkness.' I do not need something else to confirm my being.
I am not like 'light.' I know myself, unlike that far-away reality that I have never experienced.
I, am, 'unique.'
The only one of its' kind. Unlike anything or anyone else. Different from everything else.
I am myself. Nothing more. Nothing less.
But to me, I am everything.
Crash
AN:Spoiler : HAH!
You know I'm not going to deliver, so just leave your expectations at the door.
I'll make sure to thoroughly beat them when I'm done here.
And yes, I still haven't written HG 10. That sentence is equally depressing as it is for me as it is for you. Unless you don't really care, in which case it's much more depressing for me, since you actually don't give a fuck about the story.
So...uh, hope I didn't offend you, and goodbye...?

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. In a world where infighting once threatened the very survival of humankind, the old texts say that Maere personally stepped in to help guide Her creations to harmony. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. Madrigal and Jian aren't sure if Quinn can be trusted, but they're certain he knows more than he's letting on...
