《Miracle Angeliva》Chapter 20 - Pandora Box has been opened

Orion was taking a break after his 16 hours of playing games on the weekend. He hadn’t slept ever since she went home last night. He was too excited after meeting someone who had supernatural power that he couldn’t sleep. And so, rather than looking at the ceiling without thinking about anything at all, Orion rather turned on his console and started playing a game all night until late afternoon.
Right now, he was yawning while looking out through his windows. The weather was half good and half bad. Half of the sky was covered by black clouds when he saw the sky, and half of the sky was sunny.
“It’s going to rain…” Orion muttered. He hated rain. No, actually, he liked the rain. However, he hated lightning. It was because of a bad experience when a bolt of thunder burned his console after he played a game. It erased all of his save files… after he played for 10000 hours…
Anyway, he hated thunderstorms because of that.
“…I guess it’s time for some sleep.” Orion yawned again. He said that he wanted to sleep, but something about the weather attracted his attention. He had been staring at the black clouds for half an hour. He also felt the wind was quite strong as he opened the window. He thought that the black clouds and rain would come soon enough.
“There’s no change?” That was his question.
Even after half an hour of watching the black clouds, the black clouds didn’t move at all. It was as if the black clouds were looming over an area, just like a ship anchored in the middle of the sea.
“If those clouds are staying there, I will continue to play—”
Just when Orion thought about that, the black clouds suddenly dispersed without any sound. He opened his eyes wide as it was unnatural. For black clouds to suddenly dispersed like they were just a small smoke….
“That was definitely unnatural!” Orion spoke his thought out loud.
Just as he looked over the suddenly dispersing black clouds, he saw something more unexplainable. From his windows, his yard could be seen. And he had many animals as his pets. Rabbits, cats, dogs, birds, as long as they were normal pets, he had them. It was his mother’s hobby to keep animals, especially abandoned animals.
Right at the moment, Orion heard a cacophony of voices coming from those animals he kept in his yard. Dogs were barking, the cats were hissing, the rabbits were… well, Orion didn’t hear them, but he saw those rabbits were looking in one direction, just like the others. Their ears moved warily as if a predator was hunting them. And the direction they were looking at… was the exact direction Orion was looking all this time.
“…something unnatural definitely is happening now!” There were only two things that could cause animals to react like that, Orion came to that conclusion. When they sensed natural disaster was one of the reasons. And the others were when they saw something that humans couldn’t see.
When he thought about it, he stopped thinking. He silently closed his window, pulled the curtain, jumped into his bed, and covered all of his body with blankets. Although Orion loved supernatural powers like telepathy and telekinetic, he couldn’t stand supernatural beings like ghosts.

Zombies were bearable. In games, he still could hit zombies. But ghosts… they can’t be hit at all. And they could appear and disappear as their will. Naturally, for Orion, Ghosts are scarier than Zombies…
Before he knew it, he drifted away in his dreamland…
…
A similar phenomenon happened all over the city. All animals were restless and agitated. Some cowardly dogs dragged their owners as they ran with all their might as the owners took them for a walk. Some cats scratched their owners when they were hugged before scurrying away. Even rabbits kicked their owners when they were hugged. The owners of pet shops were the most troubled as they couldn’t calm their pets down. And they had a lot of animals…
…
Besides animals, some people had better senses to sense supernatural beings became restless. They couldn’t see ghosts or supernatural beings, however, they suddenly had goosebumps and they all look in the direction of the black clouds. They suddenly had bad feelings, as if something bad was going to happen. But they couldn’t understand anything, so they thought it was just their imagination…
…
Children, especially toddlers and babies, had better senses than normal adults. They started crying without any reason, and when their parents tried to console them, they cried even harder. Some observative parents could see that they were scared of something, but without knowing the source of their fear, those parents could only hug them and consoled them.
…
People like Rayleigh were the ones who understood everything the most. They were looking at the source almost immediately. The area around that place… was one of the most forbidden areas around the city. The other areas were a museum, a school, and an abandoned hospital. The amusement park, however, was considered the most dangerous place among them all. No ghost hunters could enter that place and escaped safely after all. All of them died in that place without being able to give any information to the other ghost hunters in the city.
They noticed that someone had opened it. The pandora box had been opened…
...
Meanwhile, in the amusement park. It was only a few hours after Mir and the other left the amusement park. Evil spirits had gone, and the boss of the evil spirits, Riku, had been defeated. However, the black miasma was still thick covering the whole amusement park. No, it was even thicker than before.
"This is the place, huh?" A man in a suit was walking nonchalantly as he looked around the empty amusement park. In his hand, there was a bar of chocolate that he bit every once in a while. "The seal has weakened. I wonder who did this..."
The man knew from a long time ago that a seal was placed in this area. However, even though he knew about the seal and knew how to break the seal, there was nothing he could do to break the seal. That was why he kind of gave up breaking the seal, just waiting for someone who could break the seal to appear. And now, finally, a certain someone managed to weaken the seal. Unfortunately, the man guessed, the one who weakened the seal was too weak, so they didn't manage to break the seal but rather, only weakening it a little bit.

"I wonder if I can get a glimpse of information..." The man looked around helplessly as he tried to gather clues. However, rather than clues, what he found was a burning mansion. Or rather, the fire had spread and now it burned the forest around the mansion as well.
"What a reckless thing to do..."
The man looked at the fire speechlessly. As he waved his hand, black cloud gathered swiftly, and not long after that, rain poured as if it never poured before. Thunders chased each other as they reached the earth one after another. It was as if the sky was angry. Others might think that it was a coincidence, but it was not. The man could control the weather with a wave of his hand.
While waiting for the fire to be extinguished, the man decided to take another look at the amusement park. He took out another chocolate bar from his pocket and while eating it, he walked around the amusement park one more time. That was when he noticed a trace of energy that only an evil spirit could have. In fact, he felt several sources of this energy, but only three attracted his attention.
A grin appeared on his face as he dashed to the first source of energy. It was inside a collapsed castle-like building. The man didn't think much as he jumped tens of meters to enter the castle-like building forcefully.
"Got you." The man smiled when he saw an evil spirit reforming its spiritual body using black miasma. The man flicked his hand and the evil spirit was absorbed into his hand as if the evil spirit flew voluntarily there. Only a blink of an eye passed before the man managed to read the memories of the evil spirit in his hand.
"Interesting. So, a girl and a boy were doing this, huh? No, rather, it's more the girl than the boy, huh?" The man couldn't help but smile widely.
"As for you... let's make a contract." The man said as he looked at the evil spirit earnestly.
...
"Why would you recruit a useless person like me?" That was the answer the man in the suit received as he recruited the second evil spirit.
The man in suit shrugged nonchalantly. "You might think that you are useless, but in my eyes, you are quite useful. Besides, I'm sure you want to know about that girl more, am I wrong?"
"..."
The second evil spirit didn't immediately answer the man. The evil spirit had confidence in his ability to read people's hearts easily. However, as he tried to peek into the man in the suit's heart, he got a feeling instead of reading his heart, his own heart was being read by the man in the suit. For the first time, he felt uncomfortable because of it...
"She is the same as you. She is quite useless. However, she works hard to be better. You want to know the end that's waiting for her, don't you? Will she end up like you? Or can she be a better person? Curious, huh?" The man in the suits chortled as he took a step forward the evil spirit.
"Tsk." The evil spirit clicked his tongue. Since the man in the suit could read his heart to that extent, he only had one answer for him.
...
"I refuse." The third evil spirit refused firmly. "I have nothing to hide anymore, I can go to the next world peacefully now."
The man in the suit chortled. "Are you sure about that? Going to the next world peacefully is only for those whose wishes are fulfilled, you know? As for you, don't you have a wish... or two that haven't been fulfilled?"
The man in the suit knew about the third evil spirit as he already saw his memories. The third evil spirit had two wishes, one was impossible to be granted, at least when he was alive. And the other one, it was difficult, but not impossible.
The man in the suit continued after he swallowed another bit of chocolate bar. "I can give you the body you want. Your ideal body. In exchange, I want you to help me with something... that's not entirely difficult to do. What do you think?"
The evil spirit didn't immediately answer him. Instead, the evil spirit asked a question. "What is it that you want me to do? You have the power to do anything you want, there's no way I can do something you can't do."
That was right. The third evil spirit understood just how powerful the man in front of it was. The evil spirit thought that it could pass away peacefully, and in fact, it almost went to the next world because of the lack of energy since it didn't want to absorb the energy from the black miasma. However, the man in a black suit pulled it back and gave it energy, despite the evil spirit rejected the energy. Forcefully giving energy without harming the evil spirit was not something that a normal person could do, so the evil spirit knew just how strong the man was.
"It's easy. I want you to help me train a certain girl and a certain boy. And you know the two of them, by the way, especially the girl since she is the one who defeated you." The man said with a mischievous smile.
"Train...?" The evil spirit frowned before it came to a realization. "Rather than training, you want me to be an opponent they would defeat sooner or later. You are too strong for them, so it's difficult for you to hold back. I am not too weak, but not too strong, so I can be their perfect... stepping stone, huh?"
"I'm glad even though you are just a bunch of energy, you still have the brain to think." The man chuckled.
"Alright." The evil spirit smiled. "As long as you let me do what I want to do, I can be a playmate for that girl. However, perhaps your plan won't come to fruition soon."
The man laughed when he heard the confident tone of the evil spirit. "That's alright. Please, make it more interesting for me."

P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT: Aeon Genesis
The first project focusing on four protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century Europe. This is the first P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT focusing on 3 (+1) protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century-esque Europe. Each story has its own protagonists (Male or Female Lead), genres (mainly Western Fantasy), and can be read as a standalone. Status: OngoingUpdate(s) per week: 1Words per chapter: 3000 - 6000 *** ‘A human or not; a king or a servant; hope or despair; a hero or a villain.’ Depending on one's perspective and how each story portrays, one will view an individual or a group as evil or virtuous. Because of that, it depends on the reader and listener to believe which one is the truth. More people read and trust multiple (trusted?) sources that either complement or contradict one another. The contradiction becomes the source of debates between those who believe and those who don’t. From that difference in belief, two groups appear: The Majority and The Minority. The majority, having more people, suppress the minorities’ beliefs, claiming theirs, the majorities’, to be the truth. However, the majority are not only composed solely of those who share the same belief but also those who know the truth but afraid to admit it. They have to keep quiet and turn a blind eye for their safety. The majority had to submit to those with power and authority. With the majority under control, those with power and authority can create, manipulate, and/or fabricate truth and lies by force. The reason was for one’s or group’s personal benefits. In the end, there is no such thing as ‘absolute truth’; only sugar-coated lies created by the top. Don’t believe me? It is up to you to decide. Go and read it yourself.

Mordheim: Servants of The Damned (A Warhammer Fantasy Fiction)
“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. I of course, lay claim to nothing in this story but the characters I have created, and the core events of the story itself. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)

The Event Master
It is a reincarnation/transmigration story where the MC can only do magic that is socially condemned, but is protected somewhat by his powerful political station. For as long as he can keep it, anyway. With a little luck and some modern world thinking, perhaps he'll come up with something to change people's minds. Not forcefully though, that would be unethical. ** The MC is not a fighter. He's a gamer. He loves rpgs, movies, modern music, and telling stories. I intend to post at least once a week in the range of 2k words. If work eases up I'll increase the amount again. ((Work has instead intensified to the point where I'm struggling to get a chapter every two weeks. I'll pick it back up properly when I can, but for now it is on temporary hiatus while I still might post every once and awhile. This winter, I plan to go back to regular posts until the story finishes.))
