《The Assassin's Crown》Chapter 33(Ailith): Close call

“What?!” Ailith jumped out of her chair.
“Be quiet!” Alex said, scanning the room.
Sighing, Ailith plopped herself back on the couch. “Wait, wait, slow down. So you’re saying that after I-you know- the royal family, the government’s going to ‘aid’ the people in Orbournth and after manipulating them into thinking that we’re here to help...take over?”
“Manipulating is a strong word but essentially speaking, yes.”
Ailith pinched the bridge of her nose. “Okay, and the rebels in Ornournth could endanger this plan because-”
“A lot of reasons. If they get involved, it could get messy. For one, they could rally against our government taking over.”
“I see. I need a minute to think this over.”
Alex face morphed into concern. “You’re not thinking of backing out, are you? This doesn’t change anything. You know your friend’s life is still on the line here.”
She held up a hand. “Yeah, I know, I know. I just need some time. Could you leave me alone?”
“Alright. I’ll leave you to it.” His face looking grim, he got up and left.
Holy shit. Her government was way worse than she had thought it to be. This was beyond cruel. As soon as the government returned her friend, she was getting the hell out of that country.
A knock sounded at the door. “Come in.” She remained in her seat as the person came in. “Alex, I’ve thought it over. It’ll be difficult without the exact statistics and locations of the groups but if you could get me access to that, some supplies, time, and coverage, I can try to figure out a way to quickly terminate-” Ailith looked up.
Quinton stared right back at her.
“Y-your highness.”
“I’m sorry for intruding.”

“Um, no. I-” she calmed herself. He couldn’t have heard anything important. Could he? “I apologize for my sudden shock. You’re not intruding. I was just expecting...someone else.”
He tilted his head. “You mean your bodyguard, Alex? What possibly could you need with him?” Quinton’s eyes narrowed. “And what do you mean terminate?”
She’d have to be extra careful around him. “It’s nothing. Just some security measures regarding something going on back at Aharea. Can I help you with something?”
His face relaxed a bit. “I see. I noticed you left your purse in the tea room so I came to return it to you.” He held out the white purse she hadn’t even noticed was missing.
“Oh, I wouldn’t have realized without you. Thank you, your highness.” she took it from him as swiftly as she could so he wouldn’t notice the slight trembling on her fingers. Ailith wasn’t one to get frightened easily but, with so many lives on the line...it was a different story.
“Not a problem. I’ll see myself out then.” He headed towards the door but paused midway, turning around to face her. “Miss Gallow?”
“Yes?”
He smiled politely. “Please do consider attending our annual ball. It would be such a pleasure if you were to join us.”
“I’ll consider it, your highness. Thank you for the invitation.”
He nodded and briskly left her room.
Ailith collapsed in on herself, clutching the bag to her chest. By the time she was calmed down enough to maintain a stable composure, the bag in her hand was crushed from her vise-like grip.

God Blade (Hiatus)
Theo, a prodigy of sword and an aspiring adventurer, lives in an RPG-like world where everyone has their own level and skill. However, his is a hardcore RPG world where more than half of its human never gets higher than level one. So who is Theo you ask? Was he a ninja trying to be a leader in his hidden village? Was he trying to be a pirate king? Maybe a teenager summoned from another world? A chosen one of the god? A man whose girlfriend is secretly the demon queen? A cook in a journey to make the greatest dish? Or maybe the reincarnation of an ancient Dark Lord? Well, No. Theo is a man born in that world. An NPC you might say. Not only that, he wasn't even the true hero or the main protagonist of his own world. But he does have to meet all those people during his journey to accomplish his dream. ----- 1 chapter every 2 or 3 days. I don't claim the MC of my story to be not cliched. With so many stories on the internet right now, It's almost impossible if not outright impossible to make an original MC. The best I can do is pick the kind of cliched MC I like the most and give it a twist of my own. English is not my first language, so there will be some mistakes in every chapter. Please notify me in the comment if you found one (Or some). I'm still an inexperienced writer, so feedbacks and reviews are very much appreciated.

Clarent Saga: Chronicles
Based on my work on Saga of the Jewels, I've been hired by an indie game developer to write the novel for their 'novel + turn-based battles' game which is in Early Access on Steam. Of course, a 'novel + turn based battles' is a terrible idea for a game, which is why no other games like this exist, but hey, the developer is paying me. And if something's worth doing at all, it's worth doing as well as possible, so I am going to give this project my very best shot and try to make it as good as it can be. So if you read this, please give me feedback on the story to help me make it as good as it can be! Please note, for this story I have been given a pre-existent set of characters, character back-story sketches and a rough plot to work with. I also have to insert random battles into the narrative, have set characters appear in a certain order, and have the party fight fixed bosses in a certain order, all at fixed points! Please also note that this is a first draft. I will be editing and re-working this in the future and re-posting it. But I need helpful feedback, if anyone can give it. You can also find the game version of this on Steam by searching there for 'Clarent Saga: Chronicles'.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
