《The Prophecy Of The Four Kings》Chapter 40

Barak approached the boys, the expression on his face said it all, his eyes were blank along with his face, but the three boys seemed to know exactly what he was thinking,
But as he was about join them he stopped walking, when he looked down he saw the gray metallic edge of a sword placed by his throat, his eyes ran along the sword pass the hilt and up the arm of the person holding it, his eyes met hers, and her eyes were full of anger, she drew back her sword, (the edge of the sword was gray and the body was a radiant gold with various spaces placed along the back of the sword), and rapidly twisting her body in the process, then swinging forward with as much force as possible, but all she struck was air,
Barak had leaned back avoiding the giant swing she had made at him, and just as she was about to swing down the sword to cut him, a loud, BAAANNGG, went off in the sky, a blinding light appeared in front of her and barak disappeared, only to reappear about six feet away,
Barak smiled at her, placing his hand on his sword,”Do you want to hear how my thunder sounds ?”, he asked her,
Aster, Levant and Polaris, all readied their weapons and were about to attack, and as soon as they moved, three unknown people appeared in front of them with their weapons drawn,
one, wore a white shirt, and blue jeans, with black finger less gloves, he had long dark blue locs running the full length of his back, and a tattoo that wrapped around his left arm from the bicep to the glove, he held a scythe with a green and black ring on the bottom of it, while the blade of the weapon, stood placed around Aster’s neck,
“now I’m usually not a violent person but I can’t have your friend their threatening the boss like that”, the stranger spoke,
“so we’ll have to get rid of you guys now”, he continued,
Aluric looked down at the little girl he held in his hands, she was shaking with fear and she clutched onto Aluric’s sleeve with all her might,

“Pix That’s enough of that, I’m taking her back to the guild hall after I leave, you four will not fight or cause any trouble, okay”, Aluric said, as calm and collected as possible,
“but aluric they threatened you, we should kill them and everyone they know for that”, Kiara said, chiming in,
“there will be no trouble,AM I CLEAR”, Aluric reiterated,
“YES SIR”, the four of them shouted at the same time,
Aluric turned his head and walked into the crowd back towards the guild hall,
“you guys are so lucky the boss said…..”kiara started, but soon stopped as she could feel the cold gaze of Pix’s eyes watching her,
“you heard what the boss said, lets leave”,Pix said, removing his weapon from Asters neck,
“plus I have the feeling we will be seeing them In the near future”, pix continued as he walked away from the boys,
kiara turned around and faced barak, she let out a sigh,”you’re just my type, so I hope to see you again soon, plus I still owe you for threatening, the love of my life and the greatest man alive”, she said with a look of hunger in her eyes as she walked off to join pix,
the other two disappeared as fast as they appeared and without a trace,
After a while and the crowd disappeared and things died down, the boys decided it was time to leave, though Levant and Polaris were extremely furious at what had happened and wanted to attack the guild hall right away, but eventually they made it back to city gates, leaving the capital of Dracht for the time being,
In Aluric’s Office
Aluric sat in his office chair, with his head tilted up, just staring at the ceiling, his mind flashed back to the first time he had taken a life, not the life of a monster, but the life of a person, it was the first solo mission he had taken for the guild back then, the mission was hunt down and bring back an excommunicated member of the guild who had committed treason against the king, but Aluric recalled how he ignored the order to bring him back alive, he told himself that if he had known killing “him” would’ve awakened that part of him, he would have never done it,

Just then his office door creaked open, and in walked all four pillars, They were called the pillars because under Aluric’s rule in the guild the four of them completed the most difficult of missions, giving the guild insane notoriety, throughout all the kingdoms on the shadow continent, and as far as any one was concerned they were the four pillars that held up the guild and Aluric.
some Unknown Place
The two ships stood opposed to each other, slowly bobbing up and down on the water, the waves calmly crashing against the sides of the boats, on one of the boats stood three people, the one standing at the bow of the boat was a tall muscular man, his skin a pale blueish gray, his bosy and face covered with scars, and on his chest was a mark, an insignia with three small diamonds on top of on bigger one, his eyes were a deep blood red but they seemed cold and uncaring, like a man who had been through may wars, this stood opposed to the slight grin he had worn on his face, as if he took some sort of amusement from the current situation, his hair ran in a mo hawk until the back of his head where his hair spread out, wild and unkempt, running free, stopping past his back, and on the top of his head pridefully stood two bright red horns pointed towards the sky, though one held a scar near the base of it,
he stared across at the other ship, until they were with in earshot of him,
“to what do I owe the pleasure of being graced by the presence of the captain of the hall of heroes”, he shouted boastfully,
on the other ship stood a single person, he wore a long black coat with a red zipper running down the middle, with the words ‘ Exxion ’ running along the bottom of the coat, and the numbers ‘ 00 “, close to the midsection of it, he also wore a cap that was black in color, and a large sword with a red sheath and light purple orbs on his back, his skin was fair, except for the left side of his face, which was blueish gray, from under his left eye all the way up to his left ear, and his eyes were the same not in color but it the look also, they were just as could and uncaring, but his felt more like sharp knives ready to pierce flesh at any given moment,
“Belze, just stand down I’m not in any mood to fight today”, the single stranger said back,
“That’s not a choice you get to make today Percival”, Belze said back to him,
“it’s my job to protect my homeland, and I’m not gonna just let the bloodhound of the Arch priest waltz right through it unchecked”, Belze continued,
“ I really don’t have time for this right now, I’m on a mission from the arch priest himself, to stop me is to directly oppose the highest order in the church”, Percival answered back to Belze,
“in case you haven’t noticed, you want to pass through the Archipelago of the damned, home to the demons, and the god of the night himself, Zecatate, we’re all about opposing that damned church to begin with”, Belze exclaimed,
Percival stood there, he knew that this would end up in a fight but going through him was the shortest way to their destination, Percival let out a sigh filled with disappointment,
“so be it, Icarus, Joan, Burn their boat to the ground”, Percival ordered,
Belze scoffed,”there’s no one with you”, he said, but just as he said that, a volley of projectiles came hurling down from the sky, each of them lit on fire,
Belze looked up and out of the sun came descended a person, with wings shrouded in fire,
“don’t forget about me”, a very feminine voice said, with it a large stream of black flames barreled their way towards Belze, shrouding him in them,
“that’s kinda warm” Belze muttered as he emerged from the flames, he cracked his neck from one side to the next, as the grin on his face widened and life sprang back into his eyes

The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
