《The Avaricious Merchant System》Chapter 09 : Taking back the Underworld

As the huge magic circle that had appeared out of nowhere encompassing the Dumas Capital city throbbed, the king and his ministers were fidgeting wondering if this was the end of the world.
The entire scene looked eerie as Old Levi body was engulfed in a black flame that burned him as if to purify him.
Old Levi could feel the magic circle operating and targeting his bloodline as well as scanning the multiverse in search of others like him in order to rank him in the Leviathan clan.
Only if there was someone with a bloodline purer than him would he be ranked under that person.
But now, except for him, there was no one in the Multiverse who had the Leviathan bloodline.
***
In the Underworld.
The Leviathan Palace of Death.
Underworld King’s quarters.
Joseph Stormborn, a dragon God of the lightning element was comfortably sitting cross-legged on a simple mat, his eyes closed.
He wasn’t training, just meditating. A thing he did regularly to calm his turbulent mind. As a God, his training had long since ended and reached the pinnacle. With his talent, like many others, if not all, he couldn’t go any further, which was why he was appointed the Underworld King by the Dragon Emperor.
Like many other Primordial Races, like Phoenixes, Unicorns, Sphinxes, and many others, there was still another level above the God rank. It was the Overgod rank that was mainly reserved for the strongest of the entire race, the Emperor.
If another succeded in advancing to that level, as incredibly rare as it was, at times it would be an all-out mutiny as the entire race would be divided into two factions. The factions would either survive together or fight until there was one Overgod remaining.
Of course, before the war with the Leviathans, the Dragons had many emperors, which was why the dragon race was the strongest race in the Multiverse.

Now, left with only one Emperor, the Dragons were doing everything in their power to have many emperors rising, but it now seemed to be wishful thinking.
The once pitiful human race already had three Emperors.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the Dragon Emperor Solus Sunborn had the power to keep the other races in check for now, if more foreign Emperors sprouted, the dragon race would lose its hegemony of the Multiverse.
Yes, even among Emperors, there were power levels. While those power levels were not obvious or even quantified, it all amounted to how long one had been an Emperor. The oldest an Emperor was, the strongest they were compared to other emperors.
At that moment, Joseph Stormbron coughed up blood and felt a tremor in his entire body…then in the entire Underworld.
It seemed like it was the end of the world.
He immediately teleported outside the Leviathan palace and saw the most jaw-dropping sight in his entire life.
The Statue of the Leviathan Patriarch which had long been forgotten by everyone and now served as a decoration was coming alive.
“Impossible….IMPOSSIBLE!!!” Joseph Stormborn said.
Its inky smoke eyes opened and then its face seemed to go through obvious changes. The new face looked like how Old Levi would look in leviathan form.
The hundreds of meters long statue then roared, sending ripples towards the entire Netherworld.
Old Levi, who had now been recognized as the patriarch of the Leviathan Clan was now using this new connection to assume control of the Underworld in its entirety.
“Humph…Not on my watch! Do you think us proud dragons are pushovers? I don’t know how you managed to achieve this feat. Maybe there were some remnants of that detestable bloodline and we’ve been careless back then and didn’t find you…but you think you can take back this place from us?”

“Humph! Keep dreaming.” Joseph ended.
At this time, lightning even many thousand times more intense than the tribulation lightning that mortals had to undergo in the breakthroughs, appeared.
The new blue lightning covered the entire sky and faced off with the stone Leviathan.
“Little dragon, you should go cry to your emperor before it’s too late.” Old Levi’s voice was heard from the stone leviathan’s mouth.
“Little Dragon?” Joseph’s veins almost popped on his forehead.
Joseph was trying to stall for time until the main body of this stone leviathan had been found. All this time, even the Dragon Emperor had been notified. The entire Dragon race was moving to scry the stars looking for the new Leviathan Patriarch.
The Dragons were afraid.
‘Another war with those damnable creatures? Again?’
‘Will we even win this time? Who knows how long they have been scheming behind our backs? They must’ve amassed enough strength that they are now confident which is why they made their move on our livelihood?
That was what the dragons were thinking.
The crystallized soul energy produced by the Dragons by periodically taking a negligible amount of the soul energy of the many dead souls was in some ways the only way the dragons could keep calling themselves the Kings of the Multiverse.
With that soul energy, they could create more Gods than any other race if not all combined.
The soul energy taken from a dead soul would just be replenished in time for the next harvest.
While the dragons prided themselves in thinking that they never hurt any of the souls in the Underworld, it was a huge crime as the dead souls were forced to abandon their soul cultivation if they wanted to live a carefree life in the Underworld.
Those that refused to relinquish their soul energy were tortured and drained even more of their soul energy leaving them in a perpetual lethargic state to scare the rest.
The lightning in the sky converged on itself and then a beam of blue light immediately hit the stone Leviathan.
There weren’t even traces of a scratch on its black glossy stone body.
“Did you know that the previous patriarch merged his blood with a chunk of adamantine obsidian, the hardest metal known in the Multiverse? You know he was adept in making artifacts, so even if you used a weapon with the same metal, I would only be slightly hurt and then heal. Why do you think your emperors never made a move against this stone statue? It’s because they were powerless as well and only concentrated on erasing the Leviathan bloodline.” Old Levi said.
“F*ck…F****CK! ” Joseph’s Stormborn’s all-out attack had been brushed off like that. His mind was on the brink of going mad. ‘ What is the Emperor doing? He should already be here.’
“Who are you, really?” Joseph tried to gain some time.
“Too late to strike a conversation now. Do you think I do not know that your Emperor is trying to punch his way through to this place? I’ve been blocking him for a while now. Quite smart of you to call him even before you started attacking.”
“You can leave now. Remember to tell your emperor that if he doesn’t want to see his beloved race disappear from the Multiverse, he better stay out of my way.”
Just as Old Levi's voice sounded, Joseph Stormborn and every dragon gods and helpers stationed in the Underworld were teleported out.
Only a stone statue of a Leviathan and an uncountable number of souls remained in the Underworld.
“Now Time to find my…our Mom.”

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them.
