《ELYSIA EROICA》Ch. VII - Catastrophe Part 1/2

~??? POV~
The land came dry and filled with sand in the wasteland that brought me back to life from my previous farewell.
I put on the nearest set of clothes in the old building I came upon and extended my hair making sure it was still the same purple color and long length as before.
"Couldn't I have awakened to something different?"
I felt a large surge of mana overflowing a specific area waiting to unleash its wrath upon the world any moment in a matter of minutes or perhaps just seconds.
The intensity was immense, as it rampaged its way through a field that by this location seemed enormous but considering the size of the world, it is only a speck.
[Host Search]
With my vague skill, I searched for the origin of the chaos that erupted but the source was only a blur that avoided my sight.
"Greedy bastard. Not even a small glimpse."
My belly growled from the starvation I endured in a long slumber in this abandoned home. The landscape outside stood dry with no signals of water or even plant life.
I could only sigh at the upcoming distance of travel I will find myself embarking on just to feast after such a long uneventful time. Shouldn't someone have awaited my return to this god-awful world?
"Just a pile of trash anyway. Wonder what new things will come out of living in the new era."

~James POV~
A grim dream of a disaster back in my friend's home overshadowed my night in the tavern we took shelter in the distant ocean of the Solice Continent.
It had been only a few months since our last adventure together and that dream only worsened my mood from what I believed they wouldn't fail to survive.

A large horde of monsters destroyed the village and the actions of a priest against their first child, Elysia.
I left my bed and headed downstairs to where the tavern keeper stood awake for anyone that planned to venture into the wilderness in the middle of the night. She was a beautiful woman, sadly married.
"Get me some booze please."
"Coming right up."
Only a few people stood awake in this tavern drinking their life under the influence of alcohol, meanwhile, others arrived from the dangers outside for a break.
The last part of the dream was gruesome, to be completely honest even I have no idea as to what was going on as I saw many innocent lives taken away from an enormous storm that emerged a part of that kingdom.
Terrifying, shivers traveled my body with just the simple thought of what popped from that quick dream.
Even I would just end up drinking my worries away with the influence of pure alcohol. Perhaps I should avoid talking badly of those who only spend their time drinking away their worries and anguish.
The night was long altogether, and my worries were banished as I spent my sweet time lingering around with each cup of booze that took a toll on my mentality and self-esteem. The others in the group had to lead me out as the morning came and it would be time to leave away in search of an adventure in a labyrinth not too far off from our location.
Should've avoided alcohol after all.

~??? POV~
Everything seemed to be normal, as it had always been in these parts of the world. Monsters scattered my building in the darkness that emitted vastly in the area. I was alone after all.
It had been a long time since a feeling such as the one that is spreading in the world had awakened instantly without much of a warning.

The thing that made it scary, was the similarity it hold to the awakening of the devil-god Laplace. In a matter of who knows how much time, an incident much like that day, not recorded in books will occur and raise questions in the world.
Although I wonder for how long, the impact it comes to bring will last. Back then it was all about war and conquest, and this era is entirely different from before.
"Is this his doing, or just another wannabe Laplace in the works?"
This reached my curiosity, after all, I laid secluded in this wreaked place for a very long time now, and by this moment perhaps I will reunite with my sister.
The building tumbled down as I moved only for a moment since the structure was not completely a perfect build and only came down from a single movement.
"Geez, that's gonna cause some issues."
The monsters around reacted to the vibration as the large basilisks made their way up to lay a severe bite on my body. But my body was hard as steel, and their bites wouldn't even sink into my bones.
I grew in size turning into a large miniature titan as I struck my prey with my rough fists breaking apart the land below and creating a new river on the ground.
After eliminating the monsters that roamed near my former home, I shrunk once more to a regular human size despite my abnormal physique being taller than the usual and muscular.
"Now then, let us find this thing that's bringing problems to the world."

~??? POV~
The surging power lifted the land inflicting harm while still leaving other areas intact. It had taken effect, although it seems too soon of activation compared to Laplace.
I turned in seeing lights scattering the sky as different objects traveled at different speeds into different parts of this vast world. It was nerve-wracking, seeing such similarities happen again centuries away from the day Laplace came to storm the world.
Times were changing once more, either for the best or for the worst. Only time will bring out the conclusion to this unveiled disaster.
"Still, this had never happened before."
I worried about this change intensely, as it shouldn't have happened unless something interfered with my future goals.
I proceeded forwards to the labyrinth that lay dormant in the high mountain in the Solice Continent. The entrance was sinister on its own, but what occurred next terrified me.
The source of such vast power landed directly into the entrance, digging deep into the center of it all, heading into the worst ends of this labyrinth.
"Guess fate is intervening in our paths. Whatever, I will just end it if it's related to that bastard."

AI means Artificial Intelligence. But those words don't match Al, either of them. Neither Artificial, nor Intelligent. At least not at the beginning. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.

Reasons to Stay
Immortality has a cost, it differs from person to person. Some regret seeing their loved ones die, some regret they themselves cannot die, some regret the boredom and some regret nothing. This man regrets not having a choice, so after millions of years of getting shot, beheaded, beaten, stabbed and stoned he escaped from the world by hiding in a bunker with his books. He had studied all forms of science, he had lived history and created art, he was content with being alone with his mind until one day a man with a monocle appears, and he learns the truth. Hi! This is my second novel and I just had this idea when I was trying to sleep and my mind was making me re-live all those goddamn nightmares you don't want when it's 1 am and dark as shit, so I thought of happy things like the fantasy genre and my inevitable death and i'm like why not?
