《Jacob's Travels》Chapter 1, Awake

Waking up in a completely unfamiliar place after a nightmare, usually isn't very comforting, especially since every single part of Jacob's body was bruised or bloodied. He was covered in bandages, and perhaps more worryingly, he most definitely wasn't in a hospital.
Looking around the room Jacob found himself, he grew confused. It was simply furnished, similar to what he imagined a medieval house to be, with a small wooden bedside table next to what felt like a straw bed. The room didn't have any interior lighting, instead having an open window, through which daylight flooded the thick log walls of the room.
Jacob heard a door open, and looked over to see a man? or at least not a human, walk in with a bucket filled with water and some clean rags.
"Ah, good. Yer awake,"
Jacob frowned, not really considering what the person said, but rather wondering why he looked like an odd mixture of a bird and a lizard. Nearly his entire body was covered in tiny white scales, like those of a newborn snake. He had short gray hair that seemed to be entirely made from thin feathers, he was missing his ears, and his fingers didn't even have nails.
The persons eyes grew wide, as if he just realized he'd made a terrible mistake. "I-I'm sorry milord, I didn't mean to interfere or anything, just 'ere to clean yer wounds,' he blurted out with a clearly nervous tone.
"Oh... Yeah that's fine, thanks. But where exactly is 'here'?"
"Yer in West Nilswood milord, nearby a small town. My niece, Heiran, found ye on her way home, gave her a good scare ye did."
Jacob wasn't sure what to make of his situation. He was fairly certain he wasn't dreaming, as he had just woken up, but he couldn't come up with any reason for why he was covered in bandages, in an old hut, being taken care of by a man with the weirdest body modifications he'd ever seen. The longer Jacob thought about it, the weirder everything seemed, but that didn't matter at the moment. The man made him nervous, and at the moment Jacob wanted to go back to his current foster parents, and get proper treatment in a hospital.

"Um... Would you mind lending me your phone. I kinda should probably call my foster parents, and let them know where I am."
"Yes, of course, I don't have much, but I'll give ye anything ye need. Also... What's a phone?"
Jacob had started to calm down as the scratches and cuts all over his arms, legs and face were being cleaned. He was lucky he still had his eyes, and nothing was broken. He couldn't be too far from home, so he thought he'd just call his foster parents to come get him. They'd maybe shout at him for a while because of how Jacob made them worry, but that'd be all. Jacob would have gotten home, and everything would be fine.
His thoughts came to a halt when he heard those three words. How could someone not know what a phone was, especially since the man had to get his body modifications from somewhere. Come to think of it, he hadn't heard of feathers for hair, or scales for skin even being possible. Then there was the whole milord thing, the accent he hadn't heard before, the scratchy looking clothing, purple irises. There were so many odd differences between the person and what a normal human is like, that Jacob wasn't even sure that the person wasn't human.
As Jacobs thoughts were running at a thousand miles a hour, the door once again opened, revealing a smaller version of the man, with longer blue hair.
"Uncle Alerd, I'm bored."
For the second time in the short period after he had woken up, Jacob's thoughts once again abruptly came to a stop. Aliens, that was the only thing he could think of. He was abducted by weird lizard bird people, who were trying to gain his trust for whatever nefarious experiment. Probably thought that human technology hadn't advanced in the past 300 years. They even spoke English, likely to convince Jacob they were people!

Jacobs heart began to beat faster, as all he could think of was escape. He once again noticed the light coming through the window behind him, and without even thinking, he prepared to jump through, only to stop the moment he turned around.
Outside the window was a view completely different from anything Jacob had ever seen before. At first glance, it seemed like a normal sunset, with hills and trees covered by snow. But in truth, it was nothing of the sort. The trees weren't covered in snow, nor were they green, but rather pale blue, almost white, with some having the occasional dark red or purple leaves. In a similar fashion, what Jacob first had thought to be snow covered ground, was in reality just grass, or it's equivalent. Perhaps most astonishing was that it wasn't evening, it was midday. Through the window Jacob could see two suns, one almost directly above, shining brightly with a clear blue light, and another just over the horizon, casting permanent Red rays across the sky.
Jacob sure as hell wasn't on earth.
Jacob was scared. He could still jump out the window, since the fall wasn't too high, but he had absolutely no idea what existed outside. There could be any kind of monsters or man eating plants in the forest. So he could either run, and try to survive in a alien world, a place where a single mistake could lead to his death. He didn't even know what plants were edible, if there even were any. Or he could stay on the bed, and try to trust the two people who had already been taking care of him. There wasn't much of a choice.
He let out a loud sigh as he laid down on his bed. "I suppose I should thank you for taking care of me, so thanks."
"It was no problem at all, just common courtesy milord."
"Doesn't change the fact that I'm thankful. Also, I don't know why you're calling me 'milord', as I'm not a lord, so please call me Jacob."
At that the man, or Alerd as the smaller person (probably the nice Alerd mentioned) had called him, was clearly shocked. "Yer not a sage? But ye fell down from the sky, ye look like nothing I've seen before, yer clothes are so fine, and ye feel more real than anything I've felt before. How can you not be a sage?"
"I have no idea what you mean by sage. All I know is that I was spending my birthday with my friends, and then I woke up here. And of course I'm real, why wouldn't I be?"
Jacob felt something poke his side, it was the niece, Heiran if she's the one Alerd said had found him. She was poking him with a nail-less finger, clear wonder and curiosity shining in her eyes. "You're right uncle, he feels so complicated. How are you not a sage, and why are your clothes so weird?" She asked Jacob.
'That's what she thinks of me, weird clothes and complicated? Nothing about me falling from the sky and having a completely different biology from her,' Jacob thought.
"And I am starting to feel like I'm missing something important. I feel like I can walk fine, so could we maybe sort things out while getting some food, I'm hungry."
"Of course mi-Jacob. Just follow me."Alerd said, opening the door.
