I guess my parents were hippies or something, but I wouldn't know because I've never met them. I was put into foster care at the tender age of 2 after my parents death. I wish I could be sad about it, but to be honest I never knew them anyways. The other children in my homes always acted like I was less than them.

As if I were some second rate citizen. They would play together in the living room as a family and laugh and laugh while I scrubbed their dishes like a little snow white. How I despised them. I wish I could leave this fragile world for a different one, but here I am scrubbing pots on my birthday. They had no idea that not only it was my birthday, but that I had gotten all A's this semester. I want to be different. Even though I'm with these people and in this environment
I want to succeed no matter what. My drive is for a new life, a better life; even if I hate this one at the moment.
One day I will be able to smile again.
"Siegfried! You missed a spot on the floors!"
" Yes, sorry sir I'll get to it right away" I show a fake smile to my abnormally muscular African foster dad.
I ate dinner at the table after the whole family went to sleep.. I hate how I feel different from the family, yet I still grew to accept it. This is my life. I have many dreams for the future, but right now they feel so distant. I want to have my own family one day, that is my strongest goal. I want to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on these people or homes of others. I must become strong.

I attempt to keep my head down at school to not get noticed by the other kids. At this new home I'm the only white person at my school. Not that I have anything against them we're just very different.These kids were raised on the streets and a lot were already in gangs, a lot of them probably had a much rougher life than me
My only solace were basketball and online games. They're my one escape for my miserable life, where everything wasn't decided for me like the system.
After falling asleep on my desk at school I have a weird dream..

Alain certainly insists so despite no one believing him. But perhaps it did not matter, they were real enough to him for what they did to his family. A/N: I'm pretty new to writing creatively so I hope to improve as we move along the story. The prose I use is still fairly simple and 'plain', but I am also new to literature in general so I am hoping to improve my vocabulary as well. It should also come under no surprise that I am a non-native English speaker and writer as well. With that said, I do appreciate constructive feedback. Please don't be overly mean at least.
