This world has magic there are however few people who could become mages. To become a mage it requires a lot of energy. While everybody had some energy inside them. It was hard to increase if you didn’t have the aptitude or necessary resources. This made it hard to become a mage but every child at the age of six was tested for affinity.

besides mages it is also possible to follow the path of the warrior. This requires a strong vitality and lots of practice. Even if warriors are more common than mages by about 4 to 1.

This doesn’t mean there are a lot of warriors as only 1 out of every 10 people are able to become a warrior.

Even if mages and warriors work together or are born in the same family most of the time they look down upon each other. There are a few reasons why in the warriors mind he could defeat a mage at his stage or one which was 1 stage above him if it is in close combat.

Mages think they are superior because they would be able take on 5 warriors up to one stage higher if it wasn’t a close combat fight. This is considered cowardly by warriors since they worship physical strength.

There are families which have a lineage of warriors and or mages. These families are the nobles of this continent. These families make sure that they wouldn’t lose their power by arranging marriages between other powerful families or exceptional mages and warriors.

The strength of a family was equal to the rank of nobility they have this means that every time a generation died or was born it could rise or diminish in power and rank. To keep the land from changing to much it would take at least 2 generations to pass in order for land to be redistributed. The rank however did fall by each born or dead family member.

However to become nobility is only possible by the king or Kaiser of the country you were born in.
