《The Beauty And The Heist》Chapter-26

Adrian ordered Isaac and Damien to find out where Roy was on that dreadful anniversary of his unfortunate birth. I spent most of the time getting lost in in the library opposite my room.
The room was enormous and made almost entirely of some dark wood. It was definitely old but didn't need renovation. The walls were panelled with wood, so was the high ceiling and the floor. The enormous shelves were like walls of a maze, the were made of the same and stacked with loads of books, some old, most new. The room had an overall cozy feel to it. There was an ivory piano near the entrance.
Adrian must be the one using it. He definitely had long, elegant fingers, like a pianist.
I looked at my own fingers, they were long but not very elegant looking, my nails were like stubs because of my weak nails and strong teeth. Holding a paintbrush with long nails wasn't easy.
Isaac joined me a while later.
He nearly dropped his laptop in surprise as he found me behind one of the enormous shelves.
"Hi." I said, smiling.
"Hey." He said nervously, "I..uh..didn't expect you to be here "
"Neither did I, but you're welcome to join me if you like." I said, gesturing to the space next to me.
He smiled and sat cross legged next to me, leaning back on the shelves.
"Does Adrian play?" I asked gesturing to the piano.
"No, he's never played in front of us."
There was a moment of awkard silence.
"You know Italian?" He asked gesturing to the book I had with me.
"No, but the illustrations are beautiful." I said.
"Careful with that, they're probably important."
"They're manuscripts from the Renaissance." I said, "the place is full of them."

"Whats it about?" He asked.
"I don't know, some kind of story. Fiction."
"How do you know that?"
"Because it involves a dragon."
"Oh."
"So what are you doing?" I asked.
He rubbed his temples. "Trying to find the information Adrian needs."
"How's it going?"
"Not very well, I have all the data, but I have to sit and sort through it to see which one is Roy."
"Ugh."
"Do you actually like programing?" He asked suddenly.
"I'm no Isaac Hale but I'm pretty good at it."
"Not the question I asked."
"It's okay. The problem isn't the subject. I might grow to love it if my life weren't so bland."
"You're in Italy with the Mafia." He pointed out.
Fair point.
"By the way, Carelia is throwing a party today." He said.
"So I've heard."
"Well, you probably shouldn't interact too much with the guests."
"Mafia?"
"Yep."
"Oh good."
"I should get to work. Or Adrian will kick my ass." Isaac frowned. He was a fellow procrastinator.
"I'd like to see that."
"Excuse me?"
"I wouldn't want that happening."
"Better." He smiled.
✴✴✴
Adrian was a second away from locking me in my room. He looked really dashing and sexy in his black tuxedo and bowtie.
Like a sexy waiter. Like Sebastian Michaelis from Black Butler.
"I'm hungry." I said.
"So wait, I'll send your food up to your room." He replied curtly.
"But it's a party!!" I whined. Adrian was standing at the door to my room.
"You are not going downstairs." He said firmly. The voice of a Mafia Boss.
"I am going downstairs!"
"Oh really?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Adrian narrowed his silver eyes and locked me in. I heard the locks click. But I waited for his footsteps to reach the stairs before I picked the lock. Whats the point? We both knew I wanted to see what the fuss was all about and the only way to stop me was hypnosis.
We both knew that if he even attempted to get into my head, it would be his funeral. I would either shoot him with his own gun or start sprouting the things I'd seen on Tumblr and make him want to kill himself.
I was already dressed in one of Carelia's old gowns that flattered my nonexistent curves.
The house looked like the inside of an elegant igloo. Penguins. Penguins everywhere. Oh wait, no. They were men in tuxes.
One man was loudly talking about his car while another man looked at him with disapproval and contempt. The two men then got into a heated argument that was stopped by their no nonsense boss, and kidnapper not-do-extraordinaire. He was in his element, used to the power, being feared and respected.
Nobody noticed me. I looked at the shot glasses. I never drank before and I was tempted to see what could happen. Hmm.
Come on, take a risk.
I smirked and picked up a glass from the bar and tossed it back. I promptly started coughing, trying to get whatever the fuck I'd consumed out of my body before it melts all my internal organs. I felt strangely warm and slightly dizzy. Hmm. This wasn't so bad. I waited for a while.
I looked the bartender straight in the eye. I felt so lightheaded, I could fly.
"You look like a penguin."
There were so many penguins here!
I reached for another shot glass. The mean bartender pulled it away. Meano. I pretended to fall and snagged the entire tray when he wasn't looking.
Ha! Who's mean now!?
I walked away unsteadily.
One more shot.
I felt so lively! I wanted to scream. Suddenly I was bored.
I saw the two men. The guy who was bragging about his car and the one who looked like he hated him.
Let's cause a fight.
I walked up to Car Man
Carman
Carmen.
His name was Carmen.
I grinned widely at him. "Hi!"
He frowned and looked at me. "Miss, I think you're drunk."
"Even not! I can see sounds!" I beamed proudly.
I pretended to fall down. Carmen tried to catch me and failed. But I snagged his car keys. I threw it at Carmen Haters head.
Carmen Hater looked at the keys and then at Carmen. He got angry!
"Carmen!" I said pulling his sleeve. "Carmen Hater has your Car keys!"
Carmen looked at Carmen Hater and got angry. I had another shot as the first punch was thrown.
Soon it escalated into a full blown fight involving several people. I giggled. Penguin fight!
I turned around as furniture was being thrown. Suddenly gunshots filled the air and the fight stopped. I turned around. Right into Emperor Penguin Adrian.
"Adrian not happy." I noted.
Adrian narrowed his eyes.
I ran.
