《The Blue Assassins》XXXVII

I stand up, carrying her in my arms, and search for Wilbur. My ears block out the sobs as I hold in my sobs too.
"Wilbur!" I shout and he runs to me.
"Y-yes, Leader?" Wilbur avoids eye contact and stares at the ground.
"Look at me." I order, making him gulp. He slowly lifts his head and locks eyes with me.
I step towards him. "You need to make that cure right now."
"I-I can't! And even I could, it wouldn't work now."
Blood rushes through my body and my jaw clenches.
"My wife is dead! Dead! You need to help me save her! I swear, Wilbur, if she doesn't live, you won't either." I growl and his eyes widen.
"I..." He trembles. "I'll do the best I can, Leader."
I give him a threatening look. "Then do it now."
"Yes, Leader." Wilbur runs off to the lab and I turn to everybody. Alexis' sobs into Cody's shoulder while Sam and Drake cry together. Cody eventually breaks and holds Alexis tightly. The rest of the cafeteria is in complete shock, some are even bawling their eyes out too.
She certainly made an impression on everyone... And she will continue to, because she will live.
"Everyone who works in the lab or thinks can help, go to the lab and find anything that'll make her survive." I say and they sit there, staring at me. "Go, Assassins! Now!"
They instantly run away and I sigh. I look at her in my arms, my breath hitching. Even when her heart stops beating, she still has an effect on mine.
I turn, ready to run to the lab for results. But Alexis stops me.
"What are you going to do, River?" She cries. "You can't revive the dead!"

I advance towards her and lift up her chin. "Alexis, I will do everything and anything possible for her. I won't give up. You shouldn't either." I look at the rest of them. "None of you should. Blair is counting on you guys. You love her, don't you?"
They nod without a doubt.
"Then don't give up. Do it for Blair."
Sam stands, wiping away her tears. "I'm with you, Leader. I'll help in any way I can."
"Me too." Cody agrees.
"Of course. I need my food girl." Drake says, pressing the Nutella bottle to his heart.
Alexis sniffles, nodding. "I'm in."
"Okay." I give them encouraging looks. "Then let's go to the lab and save her."
We run to the lab and I lay her down on the bed, the same one from when Wilbur took her blood for a test. Some doctors come and use the defibrillation on her but to no avail.
Someone puts a hand on my shoulder. "Are you alright, son?"
"No, dad." I say roughly. "I'm not."
"Look, I understand how you're feeling right now. But, son, there are limits. You have to know when to stop, to give up for greater good."
I face him, a dangerous look on my face. "Dad, stop. You don't understand. For her, there are no limits. I would do anything, anything at all, for her to live. I don't care what I have to do or what I need to do it. I don't even care if I have to die. She's my everything, dad. Without her, I'm nothing. She made me a better version of myself. I need her. Desperately. She made me feel, dad. I've never felt something as strong as I do with her. She's just...she's just too important to leave like that."

He stares at me before a small smile appears on his face. "Oh, just say it, son. Just say it before you explode."
"I...I love her. I love Blair." I confess and a chuckle escapes from me. "I love her. I really do. I love Blair. I love her so much. I've loved her since the day she became a part of the organization. And I loved her even more on the day of the wedding and when I..."
I freeze.
"What is it, River?" My dad questions but I ignore him.
My eyes widen. "I'm so stupid! Why am I so freaking clueless?"
My dad furrows his eyebrows in confusion as I rush over to Blair. I pick her up and push through everybody.
"Make way! Make way! Hurry up! Move!" I shout. Finally, everyone makes a clear way for me to pass and I dash forward.
I continue running, my heart beating faster than ever before. When I reach the room, I basically barge inside.
"Okay, my queen. I got you." I murmur as I gently lay her down in the water. Taking a deep breath, I put my hand over her heart as she lays underwater.
Almost immediately, an jolt of electricity passes through me and into Blair. I pull away and wait.
And wait.
And wait..
And wait...
Until I hear the beautiful voice of the love of my life.
"River?" She coughs, her eyes fluttering open.
I embrace her, falling apart in her arms. "Oh, Blair. My queen. My one and only queen."
"I'm here." Blair whispers, holding me tightly. "I'm never leaving you ever again."
My heart felt like it would burst at any given moment. But at this point, I didn't care. Nothing mattered more in my life than her. And I had to tell her that.
"My queen." I gaze into her eyes, every single cell in my body longing for her. Every beat of my heart was for her and only her. "I love you, Blair. I love you so much that it hurts. But I love it because I just love you in every way possible and impossible. You are the best part of me, the part that I want to stay with me forever. I love you, my queen. I love you so damn much."
She laughs, a tear rolling down her cheek. "I love you, River. I always have. Even when I didn't even know the real you, I loved you. And now that I do, I love you even more. That's never going to change."
I grin at her and she leans in.
And we kiss with the utmost love, the best love. The love that I'm never letting go of.
"You know, I've never been so grateful for The Blue Assassins. Without all of this killing and missions, we never would've met." She says and I nod.
"That's true. But, I think we should change some things around here."
Blair smiles. "You're taking my suggestions?"
"Yes." I kiss her forehead. "We're going to make this a better organization that isn't completely based on assassination."
"Thank you." Blair hugs me. "And I'll help you with that."
I smile happily at her. "I love you, Blair."
She smiles back. "I love you, River."
