"See you tomorrow Legosi," Louis gave a quick smile and waved as he walked towards the exit.
"See you Louis," Legosi smiled as well and waved back, watching the deer go, his tail wagging idly.
*Kring*
The bell rang as the deer closed the door.
"So~ how far have you gotten with him?" Jack nudged the wolf's side.
"J-Jack!" Legosi's face reddened.
The retriever crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, expecting an answer from the wolf, "Sooo?"
Legosi dropped his head in defeat and sighed, "Not far, sadly.."
"Really? He's been coming here everyday for around 2 weeks now and you haven't made any progress?"
"Hey! I can hold a conversation with him for a good while without messing up now!" Legosi argued back. "A-And I can finally maintain eye contact whenever we talk for 80 percent of the time!"
"..." Jack stared at Legosi with an unamused look.
"Okay, maybe it's only 75 percent of the time.."
"..." The retriever continued to stare.
Legosi hid his face behind his hands and sighed, "50.. his eyes are just too intense okay.. "
"I'm just surprised you two haven't gone further yet. You do like him, don't you?"
The wolf nodded his head.
"And I'm sure he's interested in you too, with the way he.." the retriever paused and his face reddened a little, recalling the way the deer acts around his best friend, "..flirts with you and all. And I think he's just waiting for you to take the next step, Legosi. To make sure you want it as well."
Legosi dropped his hand from his face, "I do want it, but..What if-"
"Hey!" Jack interrupted, "We had this talk before didn't we? You won't know until you try it. So don't go talking about what ifs and all that!"
Legosi whined, "But-"
"No buts too! At the very least go on one date with him to try it out, one"-Jack held up one of his index fingers-"before you say anything about it not working,"
"A date?"
"Yes. I know you're inexperienced in this kind of thing, but you should at least know what that is... right?" Jack sounded doubtful at the end.
"Of course I know! I'm not that clueless," Legosi huffed.
"Well then go and try it out! You two are clearly interested in each other, so there's no need to hesitate you silly wolf," Jack booped Legosi on the nose.

"...Okay.. I'll.. I'll try tomorrow.."

*Tick* *Tock*
03:15 PM
Legosi grew more anxious as time continued to pass, the day both felt too slow and too fast to him as he waited. He was alone at the cafe today, unlike yesterday, as Jack said he was busy today.
This was it. Today was the day where he's going to try and make it official. To ask the deer on a date. A date.
The wolf continued to wait anxiously, fidgeting and glancing at the clock for every 10 seconds until-
*Kring*
-The door opened, and a red deer entered.
"Good afternoon Legosi," The deer was smiling when he entered, he walked to the counter and sat on one of the bar stools.
"G-Good afternoon Louis!" Legosi jumped a little, his glasses became unbalanced.
Louis raised an eyebrow, surprised at the wolf's reaction, "You're awfully jumpy."
"O-oh, sorry," Legosi readjusted his glasses with shaky hands. "Um.. the same as usual today?"
"Mmhmm", Louis hummed.
Legosi immediately went to work with the deer's usual order, which of course, is black coffee. But with everything on his mind right now, thinking up ways to ask the deer on a date, he couldn't focus on the order no matter how much he tried.
"..." The deer watched silently as the wolf worked.
Every time Louis came here, he thought Legosi was getting more used around him. The wolf hasn't been stuttering as often, he started to get more comfortable calling him Louis without any honorifics out of habit, he was showing his charming smiles more, he didn't avoid eye contact as much as before too. Louis believed he was actually making progress with the wolf.
But for some reason, today Legosi was back to how he was when they first met. Fidgety, nervous beyond control, hands shaking, eyes glancing around to whatever that's not the deer. Why was the wolf acting like this again? Did he do something wrong? Louis couldn't help but start to feel worried.
"Um.. here's your coffee L-Louis," Legosi put down the black coffee in front him.
Louis snapped out of his thought, "O-oh, yeah. Thanks."
Legosi's ears perked up, it was the first time he ever heard the deer stuttered.
The deer silently drank his coffee. At the same time, the wolf was watching from the other side of the counter, taking deep breaths and mentally preparing himself.

"H-hey um.. Louis.."
Louis looked up to meet the wolf's gaze, "Yes?"
Legosi fiddled with his fingers and looked down to avoid the deer's eyes, "I-I was just wondering if.. um.. if you.."
The deer rested his chin on his right hand and patiently waited for the wolf to finish, "If I..?"
Legosi's face was hot, his heart beat even faster, faster than it had ever before in his life, "If you.. if.. if.."
He took a deep breath, "Ifyouwanttogooutonadatewithme."
Louis's eyes widened as he processed what he just heard. Despite Legosi saying it very quickly, the deer managed to catch some of it. Was this it? Has the wolf finally decided to take it further? He needed to make sure.
"W-Wait, can you repeat that?"
Legosi let out another long breath to steady himself and repeated what he said, this time slower and clearer than his previous attempt, "If.. if you want.. to go on a date.. with me."
Louis hated to admit it, but he immediately felt all bubbly and giddy inside after the wolf spoke. It took some time, but the wolf finally answered his advances, and they could finally take it to the next step. But he didn't want to seem desperate, no. So he tried to calm himself.
Louis cleared his throat and willed the flush on his face away, "Sure, it's about time."
Legosi looked up toward the deer , his eyes wide, "R-really?!"
"Really," The deer smiled. "You think I flirted with you all this time for nothing? I was waiting for you to take the next step you dumb wolf."
The wolf grinned and his tail started to wag uncontrollably behind him, "T-then! um, we can uh.."
A small smile appeared on Louis's face as he watched the wolf's antic, "Oh? Do you have something planned already?"
Legosi nodded and rubbed his nape, "M-maybe we could go watch a movie or something.. I usually have movie nights with Jack and my other friends and those're very fun. So, I thought maybe we could do something like that too.."
The deer took a sip of his coffee as he listened to the wolf, "So a movie date then? At the cinema?"
"Y-Yes, are you free this weekend Louis?"
Louis tried to remember his schedule for the weekend. It was full. He had projects he needed to finish soon. He also needed to study to make sure he could get great grades at the upcoming tests. His father is expecting the best from him after all.
But it didn't matter.
He could always do them later, he could pull all nighters to do all of those, and he could always lie to his father about being sick or something if he performed badly and his grades dropped. He would gladly throw away everything if it meant he could spend more time with the wolf.
Louis nodded his head, "I am. How about this Saturday?"
"That works."
"Alright. When do you close the cafe? I'll pick you up shortly after."
Legosi's ears perked up, "You can drive?"
The deer crossed his arm and huffed, as if offended by the question, "Of course I can. Who do you think I am?"
"Well I can't drive.. so I was going to suggest taking the bus there. Not very romantic for a date huh?" Legosi smiled jokingly.
"I'm glad we can avoid that disaster then," Louis chuckled
"Mhmm, thanks to your driving skill." The wolf followed suit and chuckled as well, "Well anyway, I usually close at 7. But I can close it earlier if you want to."
"At 6 PM then?"
Legosi nodded, "Sure" he smiled brightly and his tail wagged again, happy that they actually managed to set up a date.
"See you this Saturday then, Legosi," Louis said with a smile. He hopped off his barstool and headed toward the exit, "I'm looking forward to it."
"Me too," Legosi replied.
*Kring*
The bell rang yet again after the deer left.
Legosi started to clean the now empty counter, his tail still wagging. But before he could finish-
*Bzzt*
-his phone vibrated in his pocket.
The wolf took out his phone and turned it on. There were messages sent from Jack.
How did it go? Did you ask him?
Did he accept??
Legosi tapped his reply after reading the messages.
He did
Jack's replies came almost immediately.
Really?!
I'm so happy for you <3 !
I'll cook us some of your favorite egg sandwiches to celebrate
So don't go anywhere and come home immediately after you close okay!
Legosi smiled as he read the retriever's messages. He truly was blessed to have Jack as his friend.
Thanks Jack. And don't worry, I'll come home as soon as I close.
The wolf put his phone back into his pocket and continued cleaning, his tail wagging idly behind him.
Now he had egg sandwiches to look forward to at the end of the day.

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
