Awake
How long has it been?
All I wanted was escape
From the arrow on my skin
"I like my arrow just fine." Aang stated.
All I wanted was escape
From the peril I was in
Didn't want responsibility
I just wanted friends
I just ran away
Thought that later I could make amends
Gyatsu
He would have to understand me in the end
Right?
Aang frowned a little, where was this going?
But that adventure led me to descend
It would be 100 years before I saw the light again
When I did it was a friendly face
Katara was her name
With her brother Sokka
"Hey! That's us!" Katara nodded, "Duh."
Three of us we bonded right away
I had to go and see my brethren
And see what had became
"Oh no." Suki whispered.
Of the temple I was raised in
I'm sure they were okay
But as soon as we arrived
Aang made a face.
I knew that everything had changed
Everything that I had known was gone
Nothing was the same
That was when I saw him
Nothing left but his remains
From a fire bender battle
And then all I felt was Rage
(I can feel it
I can feel it
I can feel it
Hah hah
"Oooohhhh that's hot!" Sokka grinned at the screen. "Woah. That's really good." Aang wowed at the beats.
"Yeah. But that's a weird picture." Katara stared at the Avatar State Aang. "Not really. I saw him before." Aang admitted. "When?" Katara was interested, "Er, I'll explain later."
I can feel it
I can feel it
I can feel it
Hah hah)
How could this happen?
All my people dead
And I could've made a difference
If that day I never fled
All these different emotions
Advertisement
Now parading through my head
How could I betray my people?
When they needed to be lead
They did all they could to not stare at Aang. Of course they knew how he felt, they were his friends after all, but they never imagined it would go so deep. Katara was the only one Aang had told the entire story of his disappearance in full detail.
With the power of the avatar
I'd repay the debt
I'd avenge my fallen people
And the memory they left
I would learn the different elements
And journey on a quest
And with those new developments
Unshackle the oppressed
Be the greatest that there ever was
Extinguish fire lord
"That's some quest." Zuko smiled softly. "And something we do need to finish." Aang tugged at his robes.
And with all of us together
Then the balance is restored
Destiny is where I'm headed
Victory I'm going towards
And when I can control it
It will be the end of war
But before then
I just had to learn
I would travel to the different tribes
For knowledge that I yearned
Roku said it would be the end
When Sozin did return
So I sharpened my abilities
To ready for the burn
It would end with me arriving at the temple in the East
To unleash my inner chakra
Taught by guru man Pathik
"Oh, him." Aang remembered the onion banana juice.
He told me to release
That I would need to face fear
Let go of any guilt
And any shame based drear
Free myself of any baggage
For abandoning my family
"That's a good thing." Katara stared at Aang.
Accept that I'm the avatar
And always how it had to be
Then he told me
Free myself of all illusions
And the nations we are one

And are strongest as a union
"That guy seems really wise." Suki stated. Aang nodded. "He knew Monk Gyatso." He said sadly. "How? He must be over a hundred years old." Katara said.
"He looked over a hundred, I'll tell you that."
When we reached the final chakra
I was ready to pursue it
And that was when he told me
Give up what had made me human
He said give up all attachments
Had to happen in the end
I would need to let Katara go in order to ascend
Aang cringed at that, they didn't have to know that. Katara glanced to side.
"Wait, wait, what does Katara have to do with-" Zuko was about to ask, but Aang had nudged him on the shoulder. Nobody needed to learn and he really wasn't willing to tell after what happened last night. "It's nothing. The Guru just wanted me to let go of the attachment I had to the people I loved, like you guys, so I could master the Avatar State." Yes, it was his friends who attached him to the world, but mainly Katara.
"Wow. That's...not that great." Suki cringed. Aang chuckled, "Tell me about it." Katara really couldn't help but see a second meaning to the 'the people I love' after his confession on the balcony the other night...
Was this why he seemed so unsure of himself whenever they mentioned the Avatar State?
(I can feel it
I can feel it
I can feel it
Hah hah
I can feel it
I can feel it
I can feel it
Hah hah)
"Wooooooooo, yeah uh huh!" Sokka did a little dance, to which Suki facepalmed at.
"You gotta admit this is goood!" Sokka grinned ear to ear. "They should've made a rap about me instead. 'Toph, the best Earthebender in the world'." Toph didn't deny the quality of the song though.
How could this happen?
This is how it ends?
And could all of this have been avoided if I never fled
But if I don't release
Then everybody's good as dead
How could I betray the people?
"Is this about what happened in the crystal catacombs?" Aang asked.
Nobody answered, only Sokka's humming was heard. "Literal chills. Man, I wonder what other stuff these people make."
When they needed to be lead
With the power of the avatar
I could repay the debt
Could avenge my fallen people
And the memory they left
I have learned the different elements
And journeyed on a quest
So was all of that for nothing?
Naw I'll carry the oppressed
Be the greatest that there ever was
Extinguish fire lord
Bring the nations all together
Let the balance be restored
Destiny is where I'm heading
Victory I'm going towards
I'm the master of the elements
And ender of the war
"Go Aang!" Sokka raised a fist in the air. Aang giggled, finding Sokka's extremism charming. Katara only shared her brother's enthusiasm, a rare time. Aang was just that great.
I won't kill you
But you deserve it
So obsessed with power
Was it worth it?
The people that you led
They were scared
Fear doesn't motivate
Real loyalty you earn it
I'm giving you a sentence worse than death
I won't take your final breath
But your power it is worthless
And now I can finally say
That I now Aang have fulfilled my purpose
"That's a nice ending." Aang smiled. "Nice? Man, appreciate it a bit more! They made a whole rap about you." Aang cheeks tinted a light pink, "Yeah, you're right." He gave him a sheepish smile. Aang didn't understand how anyone could understand all his struggles and put it into a three minute song. (How they even knew what was going on his head, he'll have to ask later.)
But it did feel a little violating knowing how his friends had just learned his most secret thoughts so easily. He was just glad they didn't seem to judge.
"Honestly, this is pretty great. They did well." Zuko's compliment was a rarity, too. The firebender just thought the last lines were really neat.
"Would you even call it fire?" Sokka grinned. Zuko groaned, he was wary of this comment coming up. Aang and Katara snickered, "Flameo, Sifu Hotman."
The firebender sighed.

Natural Alchemist
Will is poor. This is a fact he does not like about himself. Even back at his home village he was considered poor, but poor in the big city means something completely different than poor in a small village... It means ten hour days of hard manual labor with barely enough money to survive, and poor living conditions. He's sick of it, and desperate for change. Perhaps that was what made him decide to spend such a large portion of his savings on a mysterious potion from that beggar... That, and it seemed so special when he held it. But ever since that day, he's been having the strangest dreams... And the work is really starting to take a toll on his body... Author's Note: I wasn't sure which mature content warnings I should put on this novel, as I'm pretty much pantsing the story. I'm putting them there mostly as a percaution, but also to not limit myself as to where the story can go. This is my first time writing and publishing anything substantial. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
