《A New Life to Live (PJO FF)》Magic Forest

They fell down the building, the wind pushing up their hair and clothes.
Nico shut his eyes tightly and brought his arms closer to his chest, Percy held him closer to him.
"Percy!" Nico yelled and suddenly there was a loud sound and Nico couldn't feel himself falling anymore. He slowly opened his eyes and saw them gliding through the night sky. His eyes widened in amazement as he took in the bright lights from the city below. "Woah."
They admired the lights with the sound of the city echoing around them. The sound of Percy's wings flapping above Nico.
Percy changed direction and started flying upwards. He moved Nico in his arms so they were facing each other.
"You okay? Do you want to go down?"
Nico shook his head. "I'm good. I like it up here. It's...calming, I guess. Different from on Earth when I think Zeus will shoot me down at any moment."
Percy nodded. He kept flying upwards toward the sky and Nico could see something in the distance above them.
"What's up there?" Percy looked up to what Nico was talking about.
"It's something I made a few years after my father brought me here. I go there when I need to think or when I.... never mind that. It's just somewhere that clears my head."
Nico furrows his eyebrows at what Percy was going to say. Percy seemed to have noticed and sighed. "I stole something from Chaos a long time ago. He never noticed it was gone but I used it a lot. It would show me... things. Things that I want to see or tell me something that I want to hear." Percy looked away from Nico. "I used it when I fell back into the past and needed something to bring me back. Something that would make me feel better. It was good for a while. It helped. Until one day I just came to terms that whatever I saw and heard was never going to happen, but...." he trailed off and Nico put a hand on his cheek.
"What?"
"It did happen. And now I'm glad it did." Nico smiles and carefully put his arms around Percy's neck.
They finally land on the floating space and Percy lets go of Nico only to grab his hand and pull him. The floating surface was filled with glowing trees and there were pixies flying around and coming up to Nico.
"Be careful." Percy said. "They bite."
Nico quickly retracted his hand and let it swing by his side. He continued looking around and saw a shadow run by them.
"What was that?"
"That was a shadow panther. I found that one a while back and he likes to play with the pixies. Except when they bite him too hard." Nico watched the panther as it jumped into a tree and pawed at a group of pixies. They made a noise and the panther jumped at them. A purple monkey appears out of thin air and jumps on the panther.
"All the creatures here play together all the time. They sometimes jump on me but they try not to if I'm in a bad mood." Percy pulled Nico along as they ventured deeper into the magic forest. When they step on the grass it glows and fades away after a few seconds. The flowers move when the couple past by them and when Nico listened closely he could hear a faint humming noise.

The noise was soothing and helped Nico find himself becoming more and more relaxed the more he listened to it.
Percy glances back at Nico then puts his mouth to his ear. "Don't listen to it too much. It'll send you right to sleep for hours." Nico blinked then shook his head and focused on the sight of the forest.
"I once got put to sleep for a whole week. Father was looking for me and the warriors were freaking out thinking I went on a mission and somehow got myself killed. On the seventh day, Dad finally thought to look up here and had to bring me to a room down there to get me away from the humming. Good times."
"You can wake up on your own, right?"
"Yeah, it just depends on how you felt before you fall asleep. I was feeling like shit because I had a nightmare and when I go out to sleep up here, all dreams are basically the best dreams ever. Unless you want no dreams at all."
"Sounds like something we should've had during the wars."
Percy nodded. "That's why I made it. Because demigod nightmares are messed up."
"But you're not a demigod."
"No. I'm not. I'm kind of like a primordial but I'm stronger because I'm Chaos's birth son. I think Chaos just made the others."
"Can I meet them? Your brothers and sisters?"
Percy looks at Nico in bewilderment. "You actually want to meet them?"
"Yeah. They're your family and you love them right?"
Percy just nodded, too shocked to say it. He stares at Nico before he can speak again. "I thought you wouldn't want anything to do with them. Because of what happened."
"You said they're different. That they were in a bad mood. I want to see them when they're happy."
Percy smiles. "Okay." Percy led Nico to a tree and they climbed up to the top. "You can meet them after." When they reach the top branches, Nico looks down and sees the whole forest, filled with life and colors. The pixies are singing and the creatures are gracefully jumping through the trees.
"It's beautiful." Nico whispers. Percy smiles.
"Yeah, it really is."
They stay there for some time, just talking about anything and everything and watching the lively creatures of the forest.
————
"Are you ready?"
Nico nods. "You sure?"
He nods again.
"Alright." Percy takes Nico's hand and walks through the door. He's immediately crushed to the floor by his siblings.
"Percy! We missed you!"
Percy laughed. "Get off of me! You people weigh a ton!"
They slowly got off Percy and Nico was just staring at them, wide-eyed.
They look at Nico and walk around him in a circle, looking him up and down.
"Nico di Angelo. It's nice to see you again." Gaea told him.
"Uh—you too?" Nico looked at Percy and he just gave him a reassuring smile.
Nico looked at the faces of the five primordials.
"There are more primordials but they're out right now. These are my siblings the others are like my nieces and nephews or... something."

Nico nodded. "Okay so uh—how's Tartarus here?"
Percy blinked then looked at his brother. "Oh. Hello there. Didn't see ya."
Tartarus's jaw dropped. "You can be a terrible little brother, you know that?"
Percy rolled his eyes. "I'm great. But anyway he is still in Tartarus but a form of them always remains here. It may be weird but you get used to it."
"So can you do that?"
Percy grimaced. "I do not like the idea of splitting myself into multiple different versions of myself. Too chaotic."
"And he doesn't know how."
"Oh, that's true too." Percy grinned. "I missed you, brother. You have no idea how hard it was to shove my sword in your chest."
"That was not fun."
"You brought it upon yourself."
"I didn't know Father was going to send you to stop me. If I had known that I wouldn't have tried to kill the demigods."
"Oh, well then I guess I should say this now." Percy narrowed his eyes and they darkened. The temperature in the room got colder and the primordials involuntarily shiver. "If any of you decide to to take over a planet.." his face brightened and he let out an innocent smile,"you better invite me. You guys always take all the fun and I've got to play hero because Father says I have to stop you guys."
They stare at him. Then they blink.
"What the hell was that?" They yell out.
"I could be an actor."
"You scared me!"
"Oh, Nyx you'll be fine. You know I wouldn't hurt you."
"Yeah, because you too did the dirty."
Nico's eyes widened and he looked at Percy.
"That was an accident!" They yelled.
"How was that an accident?" Gaea asked in disbelief.
Percy and Nyx looked at each other. Percy looked back at Nico. "Wait so you guys actually...?"
Percy froze then he slowly nodded his head. "Accident. Remember that." He looked at Eros and narrowed his eyes. "It was you. Wasn't it? I mean I never saw Nyx that way because of.. certain.... things and she is totally in love with Erebus so why?"
Eros shrugged. "Erebus got on my nerves so I decided to cause some mischief but I didn't want to be the one to sleep with his wife and Tartarus was not there so you were the only option."
"Oh, please! You've got to be kidding me! You slipped one of those stupid things in our drinks didn't you?" Percy ran a hand through his dark hair. "Oh I should hang you by your gods damn toes, Eros!"
"But the aftermath was priceless. You two couldn't even be in the same room with each other."
"I remember that. Father was so confused."
Percy rolled his eyes. "I hate you guys. I really do."
"Nah, you love us."
"I hate you."
"You really shouldn't lie to yourself like that."
"I haven't been lying to myself."
"Then tell us the truth."
"I wish I didn't bring Nico to meet you."
The primordials looked at Percy then to Nico.
"Huh. He's still here."
Nico gets confused. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well normally." Erebus starts. "If someone, from earth, finds out that someone did..that..with his sister they'd be out."
"But you and Nyx are siblings."
Erebus looks at Nyx then back to Nico. "Okay, I guess so. But a lot of humans don't like that sibling stuff. Didn't know about you."
"You guys have been around a long time. Doesn't really matter. There's a lot of that stuff that goes around with immortal beings."
"Alright can we stop talking about all this? I would like to get away from the fact that Eros made me sleep with my sister. Gods that sounds wrong."
Nico laughed. "Damn."
Eros grinned. "See he thinks it's funny."
"At least he doesn't think lowly of me. That would probably be bad.
"Why?"
Nico and Percy looked at the immortals. "Well, my dear brothers and sisters. Meet Nico di Angelo, my boyfriend."
They blink.
"Thank Chaos! We've been waiting for this for years!"
"We have. It really hurt us to see you all mopey."
"Especially when you went to your forest."
Percy snapped his head up. "You saw that."
Nico raises an eyebrow. Gaea looked sadly at Percy. "Yeah, we did."
Percy looked down. "Well, that's over now. I'm good now." Percy looked at Nico and smiles. He grabs his hand and they interlace their fingers.
"So, I've got a question." Eros started.
"Eros don't you dare finish that or else you will be missing some limbs." Percy said.
Eros pouted. "But I want to know!"
"No!"
"What does he want to know?" Percy looked at Nico.
"You don't want to know."
"Can I ask my question now?"
"No, Eros!"
"Hey, it's not that bad!"
Percy stares at Eros. "Not that bad? It's our life not yours Eros. You don't gotta know!"
"Is anyone else confused?" Gaea whispers while Percy and Eros argue back and forth.
"No, I'm confused too." Nico says.
"Well, I'm not." Nico and Gaea snap their heads to Tartarus.
"How?"
"What is Eros the primordial of?"
"Love." Nico answered.
"And what part of you and Percy's life would he want to know." Nico's eyes furrow before his eyes widen in realization and his face goes red.
Percy notices his face and his face goes pink. "Welp. Guess Nico knows now."
Nico slowly nodded.
Eros smiles. "Well now that you both know. Have you?"
They shake their heads. "No!" They yell their faces turning even more red.
"Shame." Eros shakes his head.
"Well, it was nice to see you again, but we've got to roll. See ya!"
Percy pulled Nico out the doors. "That was a lot of stuff that got revealed huh."
Nico grinned. "Yeah."
"Hey, it wasn't my fault."
They continued walking down the long hallway, taking a few turns every once in awhile.
"Guess it's time to find the other warriors now."
"Well we did kind of just leave them."
Percy grinned. "I know."

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The system isn't a game. It's the rules for the universal operating system that all things work inside. Note: You do not need to read the first book in the series to read this book.
