《Pottorff's Sister // DISCONTINUED》Chapter 6

Kian and I have been driving for like 3 hours, and Sam is constantly texting me, my mom gave it back to me for school, so I put my phone on airplane mode so I don't have to listen to it.
"Kian, you know this isn't usually what I'd do, right?" I say looking over at him. He looks over at me, smiling a bit.
"I could tell. At that party you barley took your eyes off of your phone." He says and I laugh a bit. I wait a couple minutes, listening to the music.
"Why me?" I ask him, "You could've chosen any other girl at that party, some so much more then me, some have so much more to offer, ya know?"
"I don't know, Sage. I felt a connection, I guess." He says then takes an exit off of the highway. I decide to turn my phone on, many calls and texts from Sam, my mom and Alex.
From: Sam

I sigh, placing my phone back into the cup holder. Waiting a while, then picking it up again.
To: Sam

"My family sucks." I sigh looking over to Kian. "They don't trust me to make my own choices."

"I know the feeling." Kian says turning off of the road. My phone buzzes, but I leave it.
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere special." Kian replies, and I shrug, leaning back in my seat. We drive down a dirt road for at least an hour, then Kian turns, going into a giant field. He drives to the middle of it, then gets out. He runs over to my side, opening the door, grabbing my hand and lifting me out.
He pulls me to the bed of his truck, where there are some big baskets. He pulls all of them out, opening one pulling out 5 blankets, laying them flat in the bed. He opens another, that contains pillows. Then another with 2 huge thick blankets in it.
He leans down to me, placing his finger under my jaw, tipping my head up towards him. He leans in, placing his lips on mine, then pulling me up from sitting in the grass. He places me in the bed of the truck, pulling my shoes off. Then he takes his off, also climbing into this mass of blankets and pillows.
He lays down, pulling me towards him. I accept, and let him feel my body while we make out. Soon enough, I have many hickeys on my chest and the sun is slowly setting. I place my head on Kians chest, listening to his heart beat while watching the sunset through the trees.
"Sage, today has been fun." Kian says, looking down making eye contact with me, slowly leaning in. I wait for him to place his lips on mine, it takes a couple of seconds, but he does.
The sun is now set, and we have an amazing view of the stars and moon. Everything is so breath taking, and Kian and I make small talk until I fall asleep on his chest.

I wake up the next morning, the sun shining into my eyes. I slowly wake up, seeing that Kian and I are on the road again.
"Good morning, sunshine." Kian says and places his hand on my thigh.
"Good morning. How'd you move me without waking me up?"
"You're a pretty heavy sleeper, Sage." Kian says laughing a bit. He moves his hand to the steering wheel, "We're like 45 minutes away from town, so I'd suggest calling someone, alright?"
"Okay." I say and pick up my phone. I don't bother looking at the texts from last night, and I call my mom. Its nearly 7 in the morning so I'll only be a little late for school.
"Sage?" My mom picks up.
"Uh, hey, mom."
"Where are you? We've all been so worried about you."
"I'm 45 minutes out of town. I'll be at school for second period."
"Okay. Don't think you aren't in trouble for this, by the way."
"I know.. I love you mom. I'll see you when I get home from school."
"Love you too, sweetheart." She says and I quickly hang up.
"Fuckkkkk. Kian." I say laughing a bit. "Last night was fun. I like you, boy." I look over at him, to see him grinning.
"I tried to be stealthy with my hickeys, by the way. None above the line on your sweatshirt." He looks at me and laughs.
We make small talk, talking about what happened last night for the rest of the ride. He soon pulls in front of the school. I have 10 minutes before class starts, so Kian and I climb into the back seat, making out again. I soon hear the bell, removing myself from Kian, sighing. I toss my hair into a pony tail, taking off my shirt and taking Kians sweatshirt. I pull the handle of the door, but Kian stops me.
"Wait, Sage."
"Yeah?" I ask turning back to him, and he has a stupid grin on his face.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asks, making eye contact with me.
"Yeah, I think I will." I say, peck him on the lips, and quickly jump out of the truck. I run to the school doors, before turning around, seeing Kian in the drivers seat of his truck. I wave, and blow a kiss. I see him laugh a bit, before I walk into the school.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Leave Bad Enough Alone
Something has been amiss in the city’s theaters as of late. The local bards have long done a respectable job of keeping the audiences entertained, weaving high concepts with skillful performances. But lately, a new set of bards, and their illusionist cohorts, have captured the crowd’s attention. Compared to the theater’s usual fare, their work is hackneyed and poorly plotted, with unskilled acting, bad special effects, and unsatisfying resolutions. Worst of all, the audiences like their work more, and these upstarts are far more profitable than the city’s decent bards! Clearly, there must be some dark secret behind the success of these newcomers, and it’s up to the city’s true artists to find out what it is and expose the conspiracy! Or maybe the city’s bards have just become too hopelessly pretentious and derivative. It’s hard to tell. But investigate it they must! Failure is not an option! Victory, or...well, they’ll have to get day jobs or something. Original cover image generated by NightCafé.Master story list here.

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
