《Treasured Ascension》1.10 - Core Disciples (4)

The other core disciples exploded in conversations while observing the hot-blooded fight between their brother and that demon. The atmosphere was bustling and lively. It was as if they could care less about the danger their comrade was in. Instead, they relished in the savage battle.
In the fighting ring, the valiant youth was fighting courageously against the maddened retaliation of the demon.
Thunderclap.
A deafening sound shook the air as the youth was finally sent flying somewhere in the sea of clouds. The projection followed him; the audience could now see his current state. He had scorched marks all over his body, his robe had been reduced to a messy ruined fabric and bone-deep wounds marred his valiant figure.
Nevertheless, he never let go of his ax. He was even smiling broadly as if satisfied with the outcome. Senior brother Sun Luo stood up and motioned with his fingers. The wounded youth was plucked out of the ring.
As soon as he was out, cheers greeted him. Calum looked puzzled and curious about the various reactions.
"He managed to last a bit against a far more cultivated opponent. Of course, he deserves praises. His name is Devan Brute, he is only at the completion level of the 5th state but still manages to duke it out with a rank 6 demon. Do you now understand how great of a feat it is?" Yan King explained as if reading his mind.
"Gratitude senior. I understand." Calum was grateful for the explanation. Indeed, this combat was beyond anything he had ever seen. He realized now even clearly; how weak he was amidst these giants. Still, he didn't falter, it was merely a question of time before he reached their level and even surpassed them.
Yan King nodded seeing his introspective expression.
The Core Banquet was not only a celebration and an exchange, but it also allowed the participants to deepen their understanding of heaven and earth through watching these fights. After all, watching a cultivator fight allowed one to have a measure of their comprehension of cultivation. As such among all those in attendance Calum was the luckiest.

He had just started his path and this Banquet allowed him to experience high-level cultivation laws. Naturally, the benefice for his future path need not be explained.
"Who's next?" Sun Luo asked the audience.
"Allow me to test myself against this bull senior." A bald man with tall stature and a simple face spoke.
"Very well, Junior Miolir have at it." Sun Luo nodded. The bald man jumped into the ring without hesitation.
He soon appeared in the same sea of clouds as the previous disciple. He casually searched for a while before he found the demon.
The demon was sitting cross-legged, he seemed to be in deep thoughts.
"Greetings, I've come to send you to your maker." The bald man, Miolir spoke plainly. In his voice, there wasn't an ounce of arrogance but the sound of a fated inevitability.
"Another human who overestimates himself." The demon spoke for the first time. It had calmed down from the fury and savageness it exhibited previously. Its tone was full of dejection. It had realized that it could not escape this place. It was not powerful enough.
"Still, I am powerful enough to crush a measly human!!" The demon suddenly bellowed. Standing up, it dwarfed even the tall Miolir.
Crackle!
Lightning bloomed from its body as the demon left numerous afterimages. In a blink of an eye, it had crossed the distance between it and senior Miolir. The demon casually punched forward. The momentum of its attack was unmatched, ripples and strands of lighting spread with the moving fist.
Senior Miolir showed no sign of wariness from this fist. He simply reached with his palm and caught the punch. There was a brief silence before an explosion impacted the atmosphere. Violent currents dispersed the clouds.
When things were clear again in the projection, the audience drew in cold air, giving rise to a loud gasping sound. Senior Miolir was still standing in the same position while the demon fist looked worse for wear. The bones seemed fractured, and the skin had various gashes gushing blood.

The expression of the demon became comical before a deep fury colored its face. It quickly retracted his punch and moved backward.
Calum had his eyes wide open with shock. He didn't see any defensive spell cast; this senior had blocked the charge of a demon with his bare palm.
How tyrannical!
"Truly each year the progress of my fellows leaves me in awe. To think Miolir reached the initial level of the 6th state…" Yan King commented.
"Even so senior, how is his physical body so intrepid?" Calum asked with curiosity after hearing this comment. After all, though one cultivation would affect the physical body slightly, it was not to this exaggerated degree. Of course, Calum wasn't to be taken into consideration as he wasn't a qi refiner, not really, he was treating himself as the treasure assimilating other treasures to become stronger. All in all, he was a unique existence. Even the Saint, creator of the method he was practicing couldn't estimate his future.
"This brother is practicing one of the most powerful scriptures of the sect. Naturally, it was created by the Saint. Almost all our methods are his creations. The Titanic Transformation Scripture. Although Miolir is still a qi refiner, this method allowed him to use various types of qi to strengthen his body before refining them into the spiritual qi stored in his consciousness sea." Yan King paused to let that sink in.
Calum marveled at the methods possessed by his fellow disciples. The Treasure Assimilation Scripture wasn't the only creation of the Saint. He became more and more unfathomable in Calum's eyes.
"As such his body holds immense power, power even superior to ordinary demons' bodies. His style of combat is simple. Pure power and extreme speed. Although simple it's an extremely difficult path to realize." Yan King continued.
Pure power and extreme speed!
A weird light appeared in Calum's irises. An idea seemed to have passed through his mind, but it was still blurry and hard to grasp.
Meanwhile, inside the ring, the demon had already recovered from his injury. Despite the anger blazing in his heart, it wasn't rash. It stopped underestimating its opponent.
Senior Miolir cracked his neck and moved his shoulder blades. Melodious popping sounds came from his articulations.
"That was average, come at me seriously if not you won't be long for this world." Miolir calmly stated.
"Don't get cocky because you possess a slightly impressive body, human!" The demon replied, the last word like an insult. Even though it answered like that it started mobilizing all its demonic power.
Crackles!
Like a playback from the past, the gigantic lightning horn made another appearance. The terrifying power made most disciples move at the edge of their seats; their attention now fully drawn into the fight.
Miolir eyes lit up, "Now, you're talking!"
"Go to hell, human!!!" The demon pressed forward with the lightning horn. The void was ripped to shreds following the movement of the strike.
Miolir's muscles bulged, and he transformed into a 10 m tall giant. Now, it was the demon who looked like a toddler in face of Miolir. Despite the changes in his opponent, the demon was undaunted.
The gigantic horn fell upon Miolir menacingly. He didn't flinch in front of the attack, he simply made a fist and sent it flying against the horn.
Bang!!!
Strands of lightning spread from the broken horn while the demon was sent hurtling back, blood pouring out of its orifices.
"Disappointing," Miolir spoke after seeing the state of his opponent.
Outside, the audience was on fire. Discussions about the fight and the prowess showcased by senior Miolir were the only thing one could hear.
"He is getting closer…" The stern one of the Devil Duo, Jerran commented.
All the 6 others knew what he meant.
He is getting closer to our level.
