《Magus Zero》Prologue

Five nations. Gloseren, Loche, Veile, Lieza, Meharea. All within the world of Rasec.
Gloseren. Cool to cold weather is prevalent in this nation. There is no summer to speak of here, there is no rainy nor sunny season either. It's always snowing everyday. The mountain ranges that surround this place make the area get little to no sunlight. The same mountains also limit the territory of Gloseren, making the nation the smallest out of all of them. However you can see that the same small nation barely touched by the sun is shining brightly. Because of the condition of the nation, the people here have adapted by learning the secrets of fire and light magic. Every corner is bright, inside of every house is warm. The nation feels like a bright snowball with warm buildings inside.
Loche. If Gloseren was cold, then Loche is the exact opposite. The latter nation is under the direct influence of the hot tendrils of the blazing sun. It looks like an unending, parched land with many deserts stretched across hundreds of miles. It's not false to say that Loche is the largest nation out of the five. With that in mind, it is no wonder that the people in this nation have adapted by learning about water magic, and along with it comes knowledge about life. It may be ironic that the harshest environment is home to the people who are the pillars of healing and life sustenance, but that is the reality of Loche.
Veile. Located at the center surrounded by the 4 other nations, Veile acts like the "capital nation." The weather is a perfect balance of hot and cold, and its territory stretches fairly moderately. The one thing that makes Veile stand out though is its matriarchal reign and the giving of more importance towards women than men. Their Matriarch, who holds the strongest magic in the nation, is being idolized by the female magi and thus her magics which specializes about earth magic and summoning is being copied throughout the land.

Lieza. The nation of intangibles. Lieza is, by other nation's magic standards, a rarity. There's nothing that really stands out about its natural environment. However, instead of utilizing the elements like fire, water or earth, the magi in Lieza utilizes hexes and curses. Unlike the other nations, Lieza will not suffer from breaking down due to internal strife, as there is no unity amongst the magi in the first place. There is no strongest magus, there are numerous strong magi in Lieza, and most of them are loyal to none. With that said, the magi in Lieza make for the perfect mercenaries, and Lieza itself is a mercenery nation.
Finally, we have Meharea. The people of Meharea are "normal." They can use all the elements just fine, and have no specialties whatsoever. The land is moderately vast and the weather is moderately fine. Their ruler is one who has strong leadership skills and has the most balanced mix of elemental might. He knows a bit of hexes and curses, but that's about it.
Five nations. It may not always be peaceful living between them, but there's no real strife between them either.
Until one day. One fateful day when a child was born in Meharea. He was born with nothing, grew up with nothing, and with nothing he determined that everyone else should also have nothing. Thus started the tale of the one of nothing. The one of zero.
Thus started the tale of Magus Zero.

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.

The Devils Of The Biterrain
Zavier was an unremarkable suburbanite living just outside of Seattle. He was finishing up his final semester of high school and preparing to go to college despite a nagging lack of excitement for his future. In the blink of an eye, his life is thrown into chaos when Zavier meets a young man from an alien world named Yafu. Yafu has accidentally been thrown to Earth via portal while chasing the dangerous Poison Fang cult on his world. These two boys quickly come into contact with Arigo, a mysterious and powerful defender of Earth from various interlopers from Yafu’s world, known as the Biterrain. When Arigo discovers that Zavier was used as an unknowing and seemingly impossible vessel for the Fang to try to invade Earth, Arigo decides to send the two boys, along with his faithful assistant Anenna, to the Biterrain for answers on Zavier’s anomalous condition. In this new and dangerous world, Zavier weighs his own feelings of personal inadequacy against the backdrop of his sudden and mysterious importance. Meanwhile Yafu struggles with the limits to his thirst for vengeance and ultimately his future without it. Finally, Anenna must begin to confront a new identity as the last parts of her old one abandon her. In the background of their journey is the mystery around the Immortal King, the mythic founder of the Biterrain’s dominant religion who allegedly disappeared to Earth many millennia ago. Despite the planet being central to the dogma around their messiah figure, Earth has been relegated to myth and conjecture by the general populace of the Biterrain due to their inability to validate its existence in the present time. How will Zavier navigate in a world where he holds its holy grail within his own identity and who can he really trust in a world of such contrived obliviousness?
