《Dreams of the Aasimar Cleric》Cackle carried on a icy wind

A dream:
You are walking through a heavily wintered forest, pine trees swaying in a steady wind. As you look around the perspective seems off. You seems shorter than you are used to. You look down and you are wearing a short sleeved shirt made of some kind of homespun cloth and a skirt made of the same material. The ground is covered in snow yet you are barefoot. As look down you can see your fingers and toes go from a pink flesh tone to hints of blue to a darker and darker blue tone as it moves down to your fingers and toes. You do not seem to be recoiling or suffering from the cold as you continue to walk through the forest. As you move around and through the branches of the trees you notice that you don't seem to be sinking into the snow with each step. Instead you seem to only be stepping on the surface of the snow without sinking in, you leave footprints behind but do not sink into the snowbanks. You can feel the weight of a small pack on your back and a belt of pouches on your waist.
As you continue on you are becoming more and more and more aware that you are not alone in these woods, you can hear movement in the bushes in the distance, it is more than just the wind blowing around, maybe its footsteps? It could be man or beast. You can feel your pace quicken but you show no other signs of recognition that there is something else out there. As you move further away you can hear the movement still behind you. Whatever it is it is most certainly following you now. One thing? Maybe two? Hard to tell from just the snow crunching coming from that direction how many it may be. You take of into a short sprint just a dozen or so yards before you duck behind a tree. Keeping your back up against the tree you listen for the footprints coming closer. Well whatever it was it has decided to outright chase after you now. You can hear the footprints coming fast. You can hear it coming from slightly different directions there is definitely more than one of whatever it is. Well what are you gonna do now?

As the footsteps get closer and closer you can hear them slow. They must suspect that you stopped running. Crunch, Crunch they are so close you can hear the individual footsteps in the deep pack snow. You jump out from behind the tree and there standing in amongst this clump of trees is tree small figures wrapped in bits of cloth and fur, sticks laced together with leather strings to form a kind of simple snowshoe is strapped onto small feet also wrapped in cloth. Little bits of slightly greenish skin peak out of the bits of material covering them. That along with their size and the shape and material of their weapons confirms what you are almost sure of. Goblins. They aren't normally this far south, too cold for the unsophisticated little creatures. All three quickly raise their spears and the points all settle in your direction. So what is it gonna be? Is this person you are watching through are they gonna run? Hide? Negotiate?
A small gentle snicker escapes your lips eventually turning into a roughing laugh. The goblins seem confused understanding that they are being laughed at. They each in turn begin to move slowly in your direction flanking out to the sides in an attempt to surround you as they closed in. You see yourself raise your hands out in front of you palms forward in a gesture that might be taken as a sign of surrender. Do goblins take human prisoners? You are hoping you are not about to find out if they do through this young woman's eyes.
They move closer and closer they are on either side of her with one approaching her from the front each about 15 feet away. The laugh has settle back to a gentle snicker almost under her breath as the three attackers move closer. Then suddenly you take a deep breath in, your feet come together and the laughter stops. The goblins recoil from the sudden movement. Your hands clap together and as you pull them apart a blue light shines between them and you hold one arm out in the direction of each of the goblins trying to flank. A blast hits each of them and they go flying back several feet and are knocked off their feet. The one on the right strikes a tree as he flies and falls to the ground limply the other lands on its back in a snowbank. Apon seeing this the third starts rushing straight at you. You quickly go down on one knee and slam your hands into the snow and sheets of ice force their way out of the ground around the small creature encasing it in a sphere of solid ice, it looks to be at least a few inches thick. The creature inside begins to panic and starts to smash at the ice with his spear you can see small cracks appear in the impromptu prison but it will take him some time to free himself. The one the left begins to stand painfully. Once on its feet it grabs its spear from the snow and begins to rush in your direction. You form your hands with thumbs touching thumbs and small finger touching small finger with the other fingers outstretched as a bit of blue light forms in between your fingers before bursting forth and striking the small creature. It quickly becomes immobile, frozen solid. You move the few feet over to it and pull the spear from its hand also wrenching free the frozen hand from the rest of the stiff frozen body. You sling the spear and the hand comes loose and flies off into the snow. You twirl it around and strike the near statued form in front of you and it shatters as if made of glass. You turn back to the third small figure still struggling helplessly to free himself from his containment. When it sees how quickly its friends were dispatched it quickly throws down its spear into the snow and falls to its knees inside the ice half sphere. And then you hear it again that small giggle of a laugh coming from yourself, once again erupting into a long continuous cackle.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
