A Dream :
Stretched out before you you see a collection of small huts most of them appear to be covered in grass, appear to be covered in large leaves of some kind. there are several campfires in between these different huts. You seem to be off in the distance watching the small village from behind some foliage, there are others with you there men in armor, they all appear to be kneeling down or ducked behind trees, trying very hard not to be seen. You can see yourself stretch out a sword to push a small branch out of the way in order to get a second look at the village. You don't see any movement in the village, all around you are concerned faces, all these men look worried. Most of them have their hands on their weapons, several of them even have them drawn, lines of men with tall shields and short swords some with spears and some with bows. there is a man maybe a dozen feet away from you his helmet looks different than everyone else's, he look around and nods the men then rushed through the brush and form lines, just the other side of the foliage, play move together in small clumps some groups of five, some in groups of ten. Still no movement from the village, the man standing behind a line of shields turns to archers behind him and raises his hand, a volley of arrows shoot over your head, they appear to be on fire. A few of them land in the dirt but most hit their marks, the small huts begin to burn. It takes them some time to fully catch as most of the materials in their construction is still green. some of the arrows even go out before being able to catch anything on fire. Still there's no movement from inside the camp, small cluster of men that contains the leader begins to move forward and just after him all the other groups begin to move up in sequence as they do the once straight line of shields begins to bow and almost form a point at the front, like two sides of a triangle. The point of which has now made it to the edge of the small clump of huts that continue to smolder and burn. You are in one of the groups out on the left wing of the formation, you are in the center of a ten man formation of shields. You move slowly in concert with everyone else in the group, in a practiced definite movement. The large shield covers you from neck down to your feet, you crouch slightly and you can just see over the top of it, as you slowly progress. The men all around you grumble quietly to each other and to themselves, they seem more nervous now than when they were hiding in the woods.

The formation narrows to two lines of troops facing away from each other shields facing outward, the group slowly makes its way toward the fires in the center of the cluster of huts. Still there is no movement from anywhere around, A small group breaks off from the end of the line and rushes inside one of the huts, quickly they rush back out. The shout a warning of some kind up to the leader, everyone stays in position and the leader shouts some orders to the men still waiting in the trees, the archers that were laying in wait. Everyone begins to look around and as you look down you can see the sand at your feet slowly disappearing, falling, forming little hollow spaces and funnels of slowly falling sand. A shout goes up and there is a crashing sound, a whole section of the village near the center collapses and falls into the earth. The campfires that were there also fall into the fire, there is a large rush of air as the objects begin to land in whatever lies beneath. There is a great eruption of fire from the hole where they fell. From the woodline you can hear screaming and shouting and what is left of the line of men begins to try to get out of the cluster of huts. More and more of the village gives way falling into the inferno below. The few men that make it to the edge before the whole thing give way stare back at the large hole that remains and the pools of burning liquid. A large group of orcs come rushing out of the trees their weapons stained with blood already, You and the small group that remain cluster together and try to arrange yourselves as best you can to defend against them, you duck behind your shield and brace for the impact. You feel a large crash as the armorclad body of an orc warrior smashes into the other side of your shield.

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Due to a goddess's shortsighted error, Perry finds himself transported to a distant Universe with new proportions and a different identity. Instead of cowering before the deity, he demands she opens a portal home or provides reparations for him and his bereaved family. Unfortunately, standing up for himself doesn't earn Perry respect. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will. Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world. And so begins, the bard's ballad. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

A voice speaks to him in the darkness and it awakens a hidden power within him, launching him onto the path of becoming a Paladin, and towards something more. It is a semi-realistic take on being reborn and how that might feel like. It is meant to be immersive and to help you feel what it really might mean to be reborn with powers you really don't understand. The character is somewhat of a power fantasy but not outrageously so.
