Slow Eddie Holcum was a one time loser and didn't have a chance. He stretched his six foot frame up to the afternoon sun and let his thoughts skim past the last two thousand and five days. Grinning to himself he knew today would finally be different. As the cell door shut behind him for the last time, only Heaven knew what would happen to him now... or perhaps Hell.

Raphaella waited by the window. It was so cold. Rain poured down. She was so hot and thirsty and itchy. When would he be back? How long had he been gone? How long did it take to get it and come back to her? She knew where he went. He'd started going to sketchier and dirtier places despite her protests. He didn't need to go there. But he had the money, so she let him have her way. Which wasn't like her at all.
Dammit! It is Raphie's way! She thought as she pulled on her raincoat and stepped out into the pouring ice cold rain to search for her lover.

Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though.
