《EMBARGO》8: Why

Gaia gets further away from them until the blue planet is only but a blotch in the distance. Yuuta assumed it would have taken them longer to get this far, but he supposes the station is too big to be compared to the gravitational pull of satellites he once worked on during his first years of training. He wonders if whatever it was that was after them has been driven away by the sudden motions, and tremors, that continue to attack the station’s floors, and walls. And then, Yuuta asks himself if he did the right thing after all, because Xander is staring at him, as if he were a ghost—as if Yuuta is but a fictional piece of his imagination.
Xander’s lips are parted; they shake, and yet, Xander does not know what to say.
Yuuta waits for a moment, giving him every opportunity he might need to speak.
But Xander doesn’t.
“Xander?” Yuuta asks, waving a hand before his friend’s frozen features. “Are you okay?”
“You jumped,” Xander says, his voice a breath away from becoming a whisper. “You pushed her. You jumped,” he echoes.
Yuuta nods. “I did.” However, what comes next is a reaction he does not expect, especially not from Xander—his ever so calm, always-analyzing-everything-Xander.
Xander grabs his shoulders and shakes him. “Are you insane?” he shouts, his voice dry, raw. “Yuuta, you’re going to die here! Why would you do this to yourself? Why would you— I…” Xander’s inhale is sharp, shaken, as his head hangs low. Yuuta notices the goosebumps rising on Xander’s arms. “I volunteered so you wouldn’t have to,” he mutters, his grip loosening around Yuuta’s skin that had gone red from the pressure.
“You think I was going to let you die alone?” Yuuta blurts, surprised by how much his own voice has also grown unstable. He shoves his fists into the fabric of Xander’s suit, that covers his chest, and tugs him close, until Xander finally accepts to look at him again. “You really think I’m the kind of person that lets his best friend die alone in the middle of fucking nowhere?” Yuuta shouts, shaking him in turn. “Like hell I was going to do that, you asshole!”

There is a roar from afar as the ship creaks again.
Yuuta’s fingers unravel from Xander’s collar. He traps his lower lip between his teeth before averting his gaze. “We should go,” he says.
Xander nods. “Yeah.” His voice is breathy and low. “Do you still have your map?”
Yuuta frowns. “Don’t you?”
“Just checking.”
“Okay…”
Another roar, and the sound of claws being dragged along metal—the station’s walls—resonates throughout the lobby. “Sleeping quarters sound like a good plan to you?” Xander asks him. “We can make an inventory of what we have left and look into drafting a plan once we’re there.”
“Y-yeah,” Yuuta mutters. “Honestly, anywhere is good as long as it’s not the main control room...”
To this, Xander cannot help but snicker a little. “Agreed,” he says.

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. What happens when a few thousand humans are thrust into a world with magical Energy and hostile entities with unimaginable abilities? How will Morgan and his friends cope with the trials and tribulations? Will they grow in power, solving the mysteries of their new world and beyond, or will they succumb to the many forces aiming to impose their will upon the newcomers? A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
