《Red Moon: The Beginning》Chapter 3 Part One

Roxanne does not know how long that she stares at him, but Arawn gave her a strange look. So she looks away and looks around the area. They were on a field where the grass was green but darker than the area she was in before. At first glance you can tell something was different. Everything in this area is unnatural. Especially the little flying creature past Roxanne. It was bright. Too bright.
“A pixie,” Roxanne whispers.
She focuses on what the pixie working on the flower. The pixie grabs something that looks like pollen, but it has this glow. When Roxanne walks closer towards it, it saw Roxanne and flies away. Roxanne sigh. She turns to Arawn who is now giving her an interesting look.
“You look like you never saw a pixie before,” he said giving her another bright simile.
Roxanne scoffed, “I see a pixie before. It just I haven’t seen one in a while.”
Roxanne looks Arawn up and down then turned away towards the sun.
“Westwood does not have magical creatures. While we are witches and wizards. The council wants us to focus on one thing,” she turns to look at him, “healing and potions … but I am sure that you know that.”
“You know from the little amount of time I have known you,” he continues, “I got a feeling your from here.”
Roxanne gave him a smirk.
“You are very observant for a necromancer, but yes I am from here,” Roxanne pause, “I was born and raised here until I was ten. My parent was from here, so was the rest of my family. Most of them were raised here … but born from another place entirely. What about you? From the little amount of time I know you … I have a feeling you are from here.”
She teased Arawn and he smiled.
“Me, well … I was told that I’m from here born and raised, but I have no memory of it,” he sighed as he looks down on Roxanne. Giving her a small smile.
Feeling conformable with him. Roxanne turns around and looks into his eyes.
“Why you don’t remember your past.”
He was surprised at this question. Not expecting her to acknowledge his problems.
“My Dad said that I was terrorized from the past that makes me forget, but he never tells me what happened,” he shrugs his shoulders, “But I guess it is more painful for him. What about you? You said you’ve haven’t been here for a while.”

“Something happens with my parents and I have to stay with a trusted friend in Westwood,” she said looking back at the sun, “I never fit in. I never really felt home with Westwood. Never had friends that like me for me, so I thought being here in Dulore would give me a chance to fit in.” Roxanne glance at him. She saw him agreeing with what she was saying. “I guess we have to figure it out how we fit in with the humans and Immugus.”
Arawn raised an eyebrow, “We as in both us together.”
Roxanne looks at him with sharp eyes, “A necromancer and a witch that are both human and Immugus, in which both of our races hate and despised in their every heartbeat. We can be a team. Working together. Show them we can survive in their world without chaos and destruction.”
He shakes his head then looks at Roxanne and smiled, “Your right. Maker! I know something is going to happen and I don’t know if it anything good.”
Shouts from afar can be heard behind them. They both turn to see a castle on a hill in a distance.
“Looks like the fight between humans and immugus started,” Arawn commented, “Lucky we are here rather there. Otherwise, we’ve would have been slaughtered.”
Both glance at each other and walk towards the castle.
The walk to Dulore academy was long, but the view makes up for it. The dark green grass matches the violet trees with dark olive leaves. The pixies move at of Arawn and Roxanne's way. The wind moves the grass and trees with grace and elegance. Roxanne and Arawn also move along with the wind. The breeze feels like home to both of them. To Roxanne it is remembrance and to Arawn it is familiarity.
Soon they found a walkway that seems to go towards the academy. The walkway is decorated with dark-colored rocks with small diamonds or rubies. The gems are variable to the human society, but here in immugus society they are worthless and are meant to be decorations. As they walk farther, the stumble an upon valley of roses. Not just any kind of roses.
“The Bloody Rose,” Roxanne marveled. She looked at the sign in front of them saying: In memory of Princess Elizabeth. Roxanne passes the sign and into the Bloody Roses valley. Arawn points where the academy at but follows Roxanne once he realizes he was ignored. Both come to a stop once, Roxanne found a Bloody Rose that was ripe. A ripe Bloody Rose looks like it was dripping blood, but actually, it is juice from the stem. A non-ripe Bloody Rose would look like a red rose but darker in color.

“I never thought I would see these here,” Roxanne said picking the flower, “They always been my favorite.” Roxanne snaps out of her dazed and stands up while putting the flower in her pocket.
They went back to the walkway and stopped. Roxanne feels herself not breathing. They were so close to the academy. Arawn put a hand on Roxanne's shoulder. She breaths in and out and continues on to the castle.
It took them an hour to get to the academy. The opening of the academy is clear.
“I guess they went inside,” Arawn said while glancing at Roxanne. She glances back at him. Both took in their surroundings. Dulore Academy is a gloom but a beautiful castle. It stood tall before them with the light shines on it. The castle old, but it is questionable what age it was. Behind Arawn and Roxanne, there is a beautiful craved metal gate and a bridge that connects to it. The ground that they were standing on resembles the rocks on the walkway.
The castles have four large towers. Two on the front and two on the back. On the castle, there is a dark brown stone with several windows in the front and on the sides. The window is scattered across the walls in a symmetric pattern, along with neatly hanging archers and artillery.
Roxanne and Arawn walk slowly towards the massive door. The door must be the main entrance as it was big and very decorative with flower carvings. They push the entrance door and went inside.
As outsiders, there was no one, but they can hear loud talking down the hall. The entrance was the opposite of the inside of the castle. It was bright and well as dim. Rather than having lights, several candles are on the walls. The walls were decorated with gems and stone. The stone is midnight black makes it look like you are looking at the stars on the sky.
Roxanne feels her hands shaking, but she hides it from Arawn so he would not feel the same way.
“Here we are Dulore Academy. The once strongest and well-organized school of all the worlds,” Arawn commented, “I never thought I see the day that I would be in this school. Dad always told me the stories. Some good, but the bad he never talks about.” The last comment makes Roxanne and Arawn look at each other knowing that this could be life changing.
Roxanne was about to speak to Arawn, but the doors behind them opened. What appeared was a young but older woman who is tall. Taller than the headmistress of Westwood. Like the headmistress, she holds this elegance in each of her steps. Her long curly dark brown hair slinks back to a pointy tail. Her dress matches her caramel-like skin. Her sharp dark hazel eyes stare at Roxanne and Arawn as if they were a piece of meat. For a moment her eyes flash red but went quickly. She scoffed at the sight of them then she smirks.
“You two must be the new students,” she said while glazing at them, “Let me introduce myself. I am your etiquette teacher Ms. Camelia Erebus.” Her words are directed to Roxanne. However, Roxanne was more focus on her name.
“Erebus! As in Royalty. As in one of the first Ancient Vampire families that every exist,” Arawn grasps in excitement. Roxanne, however, rolled her eyes when the etiquette teacher feeding off of his excitement and even looked smug.
“As a matter of fact. Yes, I am one of the first families of Ancient Vampires,” She said smugly, “I am guessing that you,” pointing at Arawn, “Are a necromancer and you must be a witch.” Roxanne just stares at her. Camelia chuckles at Roxanne's behavior. “I can tell that both of you are magical beings by your smell. It was very distinctive and powerful.”
The entrance door opens again with a girl who looks like the etiquette teacher. Her hair the same but it is more of the wavy-curly side. She seems to be the same age or year older than Roxanne.
“Mother this place is glassy. I wonder how people from the past live in a place like this,” the girl whined.
Roxanne tilts her head backward. I rather deal with chaos than with these people, she thought.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
